Tanks without blockade or endless hail = kick from group?

You could literally title a topic with flashing lights and arrows and half the people on forums would still completely miss the point.

lol, sadly it's true, because I was referring to the huge diversity nerf.

Also whoever says that tanks are already using blockade obviously never tanked. Infused crusher (almost) always goes to the frontbar, because proccing it with blockade against multiple targets is not reliable. But don't worry, end game players will find solutions, while 99% other tanks will read updated Alcast's guides and will be forced to enjoy the amazing frost/lightning blockade gameplay.

There are still many tanks (mostly beginners) who use double s&b. There are tanks who use destro backbar just for crushing shock or ele drain. There are tanks with resto staff back bar. There are tanks even with an asylum two-handed sword backbar. And all of these are viable as long as they are dks can keep good debuff uptimes.

Well, now there is only this option: infused crusher enchant backbar procced ONLY by blockade or endless hail. In most cases tanks need s&b frontbar for melee taunt and heroic slash.

So starting next week if you are a tank without these skills, then embrace yourself.

Haha, that dk quip was good. "Meta tanking" is pretty much just as bad as "meta dps" since many groups crap their pants if you try to bring two magsorcs, but tanks are effectively dps buff machines, so unless I'm way out of touch ebon, alkosh, and torugs has basically been tanking set meta for years.

The class limitations on tanking are pretty much directly down to what each class can bring per skill slot. I've been playing around with sorctank again (mostly dlc dungeons), and the one major grievance is a distinct lack of barspace to justify most sorctank oriented skills. Most active class skills meant for tanking pretty much just compete with other skills for the same function, or they do nothing to buff the group.

There's not enough tanks as it is and everyone is talking about kicking. Have fun waiting for "the real " tank. I'm happy if I get someone who can hold boss and not die. If you cant play without that little bit extra pen then you should kick yourselves. Nerds

I won’t be using a frost bar maybe I’m a “noob” but I already hate that I have to use a few magic abilities to be a tank (wish I was a pure warrior tank that only relies on steel and strength ... I’m not gonna ruins more of my immersion by adding a silly staff

Kick me if you like but I’m not ruining my experience

These threads are funny. If you’re a dps in pve your opinion doesn’t really matter to be honest. If you don’t like something there’s a line out the door waiting to replace you. I’m just happy if I get a tank who blocks.
Looking for any guildies I used to play with:
    Havoc Warhammer - Alair
LoC EQ2 - Mayi and Iskiab
PRX and Tabula Rasa - Rift - Iskiab
Or anyone else I used to play games with in guilds I’ve forgotten

Ideally, a tank can choose on which enemy to proc a backbar skill. But that involves accurate timing of bar swaps, something which can't always be relied on for reasons both game related (there are times to hold uninterrupted block) and technical (lag, bugs, etc.). So I'm guessing the backbar DoT approach will be preferred at least as a fail-safe by all who pay enough attention to even care, a very few super-organized teams and individual players perhaps excepted.

Further, I don't think it's yet settled whether using a frost staff for its various resource benefits is best. Some elite(ist) types seem to say "no" based on experience, but a lot of others prefer that option. Certainly it's what I plan to do for starters if and when I ever begin tanking.

My position stands. There aren't enough tanks at the highest level or any level to be kicking anyone. And if you're really part of the 0.1% the tank not running hail or blockade is less relevant because the dps will simply stack, burn, loot and go home.

Tanks are rare only in GF. It's not a problem to find a tank for trial and requirements for trial tanks are pretty strict.

Yeah, trials groups are always looking for final DPS slots. If I don't sign up for a trial early, there's usually already two tanks.

Tanks should only be “required” to use the two weapon types in the game designed for that role, S&B and FROST staff. If the elite start pushing other options (mostly because they increase certain uptimes of dps boosting effects a la lightning staff) that is a fundamental design problem within the game.

Electro staff may be good in 4 ppl group especially without a healer and magsorc, but in trial uptimes on both concussion and offbalance are already high. Plus frost blockade offers some interesting options like slowing yagra for portal tank in cloudrest (and in any other case with lots of adds) so Ill personally stick with it.

If the dps think it's such a big deal one of them can put crushing on their back bar

Yeah, you dps that think this can go eff yourselves and when you die of stupid, I'll be sure to let the healer know not to rez you.

As long as we can hold aggro and not die, we are doing our job, essentially. The added buffs and debuffs are just a bonus.
