I'm not saying gimme, but I'd like to see the fighters guild/mages guild skill line progression tied to their story lines like psijic line is. I literally did those quest lines one time on my main, then never again.

It's a terrible idea. And it ain't gonna happen, so not sure why people keep entertaining these threads. Saying that other MMOs do it completely ignored that ESO is designed differently to those other MMOs.

Opinions and wishes such as that brought the mmo genre to state we have now. Casualized, dumbed down dps races...

Yes, and clicking 400 rocks for the 10th time is so HARDCORE. That one time, you wouldn't believe what happened to me when I tried to get a Skyshard - I *** you not, but I MISSCLICKED. It was the most intense thing ever. Never mind vet trials - those are for babies. Real men click rocks and books for hours to no end, because that's HARDCORE, DEEP and ENGAGING content.

It's not about that. It's about putting effort into a character. I have several Alts who have barely farmed a shard at all, most skill points picked up through levelling and healer or tank specs to get dungeon points and cyrodiil entry points. That gives me enough to make a viable build when I hit cp. It means respecting now and again, and forgoing some passives, but if I want to level up mages or collect skyshards I'll do it. And why bother with lorebooks if you don't like grinding? Meteor Vs destroy ultimate is hardly a massive incentive. But if you want it, farm the books. I can't be bothered with it any more, so I make do without. It's important if you want that extra 1k DPS, but if you're that fussed about Mon maxing then you'll probably out in the time. My DPS is crap, but I'd happily predict that anyone asking for these qol changes is not good enough that they wouldn't improve their play far more by improving their gameplay rather than leveling mages
Who actually needs those 405 rocks? Unless you want to level crafting etc, you don't need anywhere near max skyshards. If you want full writ rewards, vampire, undaunted passives etc, why shouldn't you put some time into character development?

Not what some of us want is the ability to do that but also with return to the difficulty you had with VR levels

I remember first aging and not understanding the game fully and being terrified of a mud crab cos the first one I ever saw literally ate me alive it was so over powered ... I miss that sense of danger when traversing the open world

Now everything is so week n pathatetic they're just like a mosquito annoying your journey but not really slowing you down

Caldwell's gold and silver offered a replay of essence at a harder level they no longer ...

So as a compromise if you complete the main stuff with all the achievements for quests and skyshards which is a lot off effort on one character why not let us create a new character with the same power to play through the content again but made more challenging

    No thank you

If it doesnt affect you and the option is there for others why not?

The skyshards are linked to achievements and I feel achievements shouldn’t be account wide as it would bad for the game. I know there’s achievements linked to cp but you have to allocate them before you unlock the achievements and they’re generic. How would it work for skyshards? The skyshard achievements are specific and hunting them down is part of the fun.

Making achievements account wide or removing the achievements for skyshards would affect me hence why I said no thank you

Wouldn't affect you if when creating an alt you get the choice create a linked character or a new character

A linked character means they would share all the same achievements be at level 50 already and unlock a harder overland version playsble by all linked characters.

Caveat would be you must on the first character have all sky shards, all side quests all main quests and both guild quest lines completed Inc Caldwell's gold n silver

A new character is totally separate and functions as it does now

I understand the compromise you are trying to build here and appreciate it, but I'm not sure how you could create an instanced combat scenario for a player character in the "hardmode" while you're fighting along side a PC in "normal mode." I guess you could put a permanent debuff to all stats for the "hardmode" but that wouldn't be in line with vertical character progression...

I'm not sure either ... But I can't face doing the run n collect thing over n over especially with the content being so dull ...

We have overpowered characters that are underskilled, so why not let them be equally as skilled as they are powerful and then let them try the content again but harder with no need for the trivial collection of skyshard n stuff ... But agreed ... No idea on the logistics of making that actually happened.

Sounds like a good idea to me, but instead of giving it all at once, spread it out over the levels.

I mean people who say no are just being silly, if you done it once, you really don't need to do it again. It is not enjoyable or engaging game play.

Or just give players a option, you can't say no to player choice.

Disclaimer: I am on the fence as to whether I want account-wide skyshards and lorebooks.

But it all depends on why you want the alternate character. Is it to play a different style/class in PVP? In endgame PVE? To get an easier class to farm VMA with? Or is it to re-live the game from day one?

If its the 2 former answers, then there should be that option. Nobody wants to play through tons of PVE overland stuff just to get an alt to run Cyrodiil. Same for PVE endgame.

If its the last option, then okay. I get it. Everything should be new. And you can even refuse to apply your CP from your other character. But here's the rub: how many people in here railing against account-wide skyshards do this? Because I feel if you apply your CP points to your Level 1 character, you're kind of being a hypocrite about the skyshards

VMA is a reason I started to level up an alt. He's now turned into a PVP-centered character. My main is an endgame PVE character who has run 90% of the overland stuff and nearly all of the PVE group content. It takes time. I feel like I am turning into an account-wide proponent. I know it will never happen, given that ZOS wants you to play as much as possible. I don't fault them for it, its a good business strategy. But the grind to level up alts gets tedious.

And don't even get me started on that psijic line nonsense

So even if the option was given to us that would be great, like a toggle on/off option. Suggestion from another member included a soft cap on skill points earned from skyshards for every 5 or ten levels until level 50 where the full amount is earned. And even a soft cap on the mages guildline for lorebooks. And with the most recent DLC this still is relevant. Perhaps give consoles the ability to use the skyshard addon? Give us something we spend thousands of hours and dollars on this game. Even some feedback would be alright.

Account wide shards and books? Where would the challenge to the game be? Every new character starts with 50 - 100 free skill points and is level 5 in mage guild?

Granted I like the CPs, but this would way unbalance things

    Not a good idea

End game and levelling to 50 and gear collection. I hate to say it but if you soft cap skill points your point is moot. You can level mages guild straight from level 1 and people do it for under 50 whats your point? Skill points arent hard to come by. But for end game you can never have enough and that is what thisbis about.

This highlights the problem that people with no interest in normal PvE content are lobbying to change the way PvE operates. Perhaps those of us who have no interest in PvP content should draw up a list of demands for changing the way PvP operates  !

The argument that such changes would be optional doesn't work on something as critical to the gameplay as unlocking achievements and allocating rewards. ZOS would have to run two totally different systems alongside each other and allow players to switch between them. Moreover, what is described as optional quickly becomes mandatory as soon as you want to avoid being kicked from groups because you haven't unlocked or allocated the skill points considered necessary by the rest of the group.

they should also make skill points account wide as well? you know just to be sure you dont have to work all 49 levels
story mode account wide as well? that way you wont have to redo the story on all 6 classes
also the skills you know..mage fighter undaunted legedermain thiefe because its hard to work on those for 6 different chars

tell me lies howards... should definitly consider making the whole game account wide

you guys want to play eso but you want all the japanese rpg features ( 1 char all classes and jobs) without the japanese rpg
features...would be like wanting to be a mma world champion without earning your title.

You don't have to 'redo the story' either. I can happily provide screenshots of sheer lack of skyshards and zero progress on main line quests (haven't even talked to the prophet.)

The time and effort required to be viable is minimal, at best, and nowhere near L50 + 100 hours, even if you dual spec.

Yes we click and press and move, but the character is in the world, not us. It does not matter who we are(Or at least should not). When we create that character and play with it, we sort of become to that character.

Anyways, besides that, having tons of skillpoints would pull different characters even further away from each other than the CP allready does. At least CP can be removed for PVP while in Cyrodil. Game allso needs some mechani8sms that are grindy and while they are not fun, game needs them to keep people in. People get a small reward from getting a skyshard, if these are taken away from new characters, many players would loose some progression and gameplay that feels rewarding while still being grindy enough to take some time.

Besides addons help locate the Skyshards and books allready. It does not even take that long to take huge amount of skyshards and get some new skillpoints. A new level 1 character does not even need a ton of skyshards.

Books in the other hand are tied to mages guild progression. Having everyone have a full skillline open with level 1 character is not a good idea. There needs to be some progression.

Unfortunately, the pros outweigh the cons of implementing a bunch of account-wide stuff. It just means 'vets' in low level pvp have even more tools to make 1-50 bgs (even more of) a living hell for people leveling up. However, I am definitely behind giving console some much-needed UI/QoL help...tbh I don't know how you all survive xD I don't think I could do it. Addons cover a multitude of sins, and it's time ZOS realized how much help their game is getting from the player addon devs.

    ok @Tapio75
when I create character I play how I want and play literally same way on every character but only different skillis depending on class...if I could I would play only 1 character without any alts but I cant...

if could have readed some post before...account wide things wont be onlocked till you hit 50lvl character and problem solved for under 50lvl pvp ( @Tonturri ) so this wont make any impact for players under 50lvl even while leveling/playing on pve
Game allso needs some mechani8sms that are grindy and while they are not fun, game needs them to keep people in

I dont think so it is working well

do you see how many peopl are sick with just grinding guilds for their every new cahracter?

this grind is reason why I preffer to go afk or just look witht nonsense at memes I have seen long ago instead od repeating it on my alt - so thanks grind like this for every character I just dont play this game longer

ofc I have made 10 character to 50lvl and thats all - I have no any willing to grind them all more to be at playable state

I could play more than even 5 character...but oh well...as I wrote this repeating all over again is just keeping me to not play them at all and keeping them only as magazines unable to do any better content and so I play only single character....mmm play...better I could say I barely play as Im really bored of playing same class for years
yes I stil ahve many things to do in this game in veteran content as I was in quit for long...but while I play on my alt (only character besides main in proper playable state but still missing some things) I just dont care about completing all in game like I wanted on my retired main
now all I do is jsut staying afk in game waiting for call by anyone to maybe do something with him if even

thats only because as that many things are character locked and if I complete something on my alt this wont count to my main and vice-versa - this is my point why I dont play this game to complete in 100% anymore as it have no sense for me since not playing on my main

Keeping people from Bgs until 50 is also causing more problems then it solves. That was the point. O.o
