It is fun to hunt SkyShards? Huh? Not here. It is a pain to do the same thing on several characters.

Give an option to zero them out if you want for those who really want to hunt them again.

Though why must Lore Books be on a single account? What value does that add in the slightest? How does having those help me? I pick them up when I see them, but that is all. I have yet to find a reason to actively hunt all of them.

This basically boils down to those who want to grind more and those who want to enjoy the game more. And the grinders have won so far, unfortunately.

The grind on alts is what will likely ultimately drive me from the game. I am not there yet by any means, but I can see that on the horizon already, unfortunately.

Lorebooks, sure. Who cares. But skyshards? Eh....

I can see both sides of this. If you want to roll a new character, it is a pain to do a lot of the quests again. The tedium of some is numbing. That side makes me want to say yes, skyshards should be across all characters. Plus, I would go a step further and make new characters start at a CP 160 so I can outfit them with the gear my other guy collected. Why not, if the point is convenience.

But, the flip side is you do learn how to use different skills, see how the new class works, etc. And then there is the ZOS angle of wanting you to keep playing. And if you are going to create a new character, he/she is a new character, so they should be treated like one (even though the CP system says otherwise).

I thought I was adamantly against this until I posted this. I still don't know

I mean the 1-50 grind isn't too bad. I dont mind levelling alts just so I can learn how they play. Recently my other fav game allows you to buy chracters at 70 percent level wise. I think it's good because at least you get levels to learn your class. Dlc skill lines could be account wide. Ill never do psyjic on alts ever it's just not happening.

Depends on which lorebooks you mean. I think the mages guild books being account wide would be terribly disruptive.

Why then aren't you arguing for all your characters to get your main's xp and levels? After all, you've already done the quests once and earned the xp, and it was you the player that did the quests and not the character (or so we are always told) so therefore your other characters should get the xp and levels too, surely? Isn't that the usual argument when applied to a few things that some players don't enjoy repeating?

That raises the point some people miss in this debate. You have to draw the line somewhere between having characters repeating content and having them all credited with one character's completed content. That's why ZOS strike a balance with all characters having to level from 1 to 50 but sharing CPs, for example. Collections and dye unlocks are shared, but achievements are not. It's a fair balance in my view between the different approaches players have to their gaming.

As much as I love to re collect 1000 collectables it would be nice to only have to do this once per account. Nothing burns out new users more than a necessary grind to make other characters viable.

It's been said a million times before, but I'll agree again.

Remember when you had to grind to Vet 16 on each toon, plus skyshards, lorebooks, and you didn't have 150% xp pots?

And when Assault/Support took 10x longer to get for each character....

And we had to lick the road clean.

We could only dream of being able to lick the road clean!

This is where I am leaning. I am currently at a place on my magblade alt where I need to level the psijic line. I find myself leveling PVP skills instead. And I'm definitely waiting until that character's riding skills are close to max. The thought of doing that again, on a map where I have to unlock dozens of wayshrines, deal with more adds, and listen to that stupid skull is aggravating.

I can tell you this, none of my alts are going to Coldharbor. Nope. Not dealing with those "run over your footsteps a million times" quests again.

Are you willing to share your skillpoint pool across all characters?

I don't mean, you collect ten points on character A so character B has ten points also. I mean if you spend 6 of those on character A, you have four left for character B.

You may have 'earned' those points on one character, but you've equally consumed them on that character.

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    Earn it.

Already done on pc with mods, rather much have it account wide without having to go to the same exact things 15 times

It really is not going to happen.

!. granting the huge amount of skill points all the sky shards grant to any ne lvl 1 character rolled is doubtful to interest Zos for what should be obvious reasons.
    2. this one is much clearer, granting a fully leveled mage guild line to every lvl 1 character is 100% a bad idea. OMG, lol, below 50 cyrodiil would be no place for a new player when much of the field would have meteor on the first day the character is rolled. Not to mention some of the other skills and passives.

Why don't we just sell instantly maxed characters in the crown store. That would solve the issue you are facing. Win/win situation. We get it so easy it is boring and Zos makes some bank. 25k crowns each.

I'm just using this comment as an example of how this could possibly work. It's just a beginning idea.

Here is a possible way to fix that skyshard problem. Maybe someone has other ways as well. The skyshards would be counted as completed for alts, but the skill points would become available incrementally each 10 levels. This = no level ones with max skill points, but no hassle to get them again either, unless they check an option to do so. Boom. Most sides are happy, and we can maybe move on. I'm on the fence about the guild lines. They maybe shouldn't unlock until 50 imho. Reason= It might turn leveling into a faceroll for players on new chars imho. Caldwell gold should also be completed imho.

    No thank you

If it doesnt affect you and the option is there for others why not?

The skyshards are linked to achievements and I feel achievements shouldn’t be account wide as it would bad for the game. I know there’s achievements linked to cp but you have to allocate them before you unlock the achievements and they’re generic. How would it work for skyshards? The skyshard achievements are specific and hunting them down is part of the fun.

Making achievements account wide or removing the achievements for skyshards would affect me hence why I said no thank you

Wouldn't affect you if when creating an alt you get the choice create a linked character or a new character

A linked character means they would share all the same achievements be at level 50 already and unlock a harder overland version playsble by all linked characters.

Caveat would be you must on the first character have all sky shards, all side quests all main quests and both guild quest lines completed Inc Caldwell's gold n silver

A new character is totally separate and functions as it does now

I understand the compromise you are trying to build here and appreciate it, but I'm not sure how you could create an instanced combat scenario for a player character in the "hardmode" while you're fighting along side a PC in "normal mode." I guess you could put a permanent debuff to all stats for the "hardmode" but that wouldn't be in line with vertical character progression...

This would definitely be doable. There's really no excuse for not having a system to give skyshards to alts anymore. Especially since there are multiple ways to get it done, without OPing a low level, and without taking away people's choice to get them manually.

Y’know that beginning part of the game right after character creation and the game asks you if you want to bother repeating the beginning again or skip it!?!?

Yaaa...lets just do that option again with Skyshards....

I’m fine with option being given at level 50....but can make it incremental every 10 levels if that is preferable

Account wide shards and books? Where would the challenge to the game be? Every new character starts with 50 - 100 free skill points and is level 5 in mage guild?
