OTOH a new class would be cool because, presumably, it would be wholly unique and have a lot MORE abilities to play with than a skill line. BUT if they go with a new class then it's high time we got the much longed for class change token at last. and at least ONE free one should come with the purchase of the chapter.
new class = You want to play with the new toys, you need to make a new character [or hope against all hopes that zos releases a class change token]
new skill line = you can use the new toys without making a new character.
just bear that in mind you lot.

As an act of sacrilege and evil... it absolutely does make sense.
Indeed! I was hoping necromancy was going to be added as a skill line so my Templar could pick it up, making him more akin to a D&D-style black paladin.
Problems arise when you have to use the new skill line because it's BiS (see Psijic Order when it came out). Not everyone wants a character that casts both holy magic and uses necromancy.

Necros worship daedra and the skills should be daedra skills not just daedric pets like the sorcs have which honestly, sorcs should not have daedric pets. If they wanted to give sorcs pets, they should have been something else. Not all sorcs worship the daedric lords.

Skill line will end up the same as other guild ones, you choose one skill which is good for your build and the rest is ignored.
There are slots for 5 skills and 1 ultimate per weapon. You don't use all of the Class skills.
I hope when Spellcrafting comes out, we will not have any more Classes.

We don't need new Classes. We need new, dozens of Skill Lines!
COME ON, ZOS! Please?!
But creating the character is where the fun is from the skill line could have 25 skill and 30 passive i couldnt care less about themjoaaocaampos wrote: »LukosCreyden wrote: »Nope. I want a CLASS. Not 5-6 skills and a few passives. I'm tired of Sorcs, Templars, NBs, DKs. I did NOT enjoy Warden at all.
Let me have nice things.
That's why there are new Skill Lines! You stop being what you are today without having to create a new character!
And ZOS need not only create 5 active skills and 5 passive skills. It can be 10, or 15 as long as it's a skill line.
Classes were a mistake at the very beginning of the game. It was absolutely not a TES thing and still aren't

LukosCreyden wrote: »@joaaocaampos That is a terrible idea. If new skill lines are to replace my class skills.... then everyone is the same. Because everyone is using the same skills.
More classes means more diversity, rather than everyone running the same BiS skills, regardless of class.
Dragonknights are Dragonknights, Templars are Templars, Sorcerers are Sorcerers, Nightblades are Nightblades, Wardens are Wardens. Necromancers should be Nercromancers.
More diversity is good. Less diversity than what we currently have can only be bad.

I want a whole new play style, something I can look at and sink my teeth into. Something where I can find the broken abilities and abuse them, where I can role-play as something else, something where I can create 3 separate builds all varying in their abilities.
A skill line is not enough. I want and I think the community needs a larger umph this time!
Thank you ZoS, you answered our calls! x

Classes feel so wrong for this game since its started to go more and more into the legit "anyone can be anything" angle. Personally I struggle to play some classes because as a warden main im now so attached to having dedicated self healing abilities from green balance.
