600 GEMS for ICE CAT MOUNT??

The crown store feels like a marketing experiment to see how far they can go with getting people to waste huge amounts of money. It’s starting to get gross, and I hope that gambling crates will be disallowed soon.

Ok, so I did buy the ice kitty. I have an obsession with the kitty mounts and pets, as some people know. I do like it, I will find somewhere with a character for it to fit right when I am not busy with other things. But, there is another reason I bought it too. While I did 5000% think it was overpriced, I am working my way through whatever I have in game to use towards the things I want. I'm tinfoil hatting over here, because I'm pretty sure they intentionally changed the drop rates within the crates. I would buy a couple large packs every season and end up with all the things I really wanted. Until this season, where I bought way more, because I accidentally super liked a radiant level mount, and ended up with far less that I wanted than ever before when I spent less. I know its all random, but at least I felt like I could obtain what I wanted. I don't think that anymore. Even without the radiant mount, I should have got everything else I wanted. So, with that, I'm pretty much done spending money unless they make it right which isn't going to happen. I'll spend the gems I have, I'll use the crowns I have. I'm cancelling the sub on my second account and my main is subbed for a year so that will remain. I'm not quitting, you can't have my stuff lol, but I'm really grumpy with them right now so they can't have my money.

There is no way you have any actual evidence to back up this claim, especially not so emphatically as if it was fact. This type of thing is what stirs up trouble, you may have experienced your 2600 possible connections dwindling, but that means nothing in the context of the population.

Actually I do have evidence against your claim. The steam player charts indicate that the average concurrent player count for ESO has been at an all-time high this year. That's concurrent active players, not just sales. Yes, I am aware that this tracks only steam players and we don't know what percentage of PC players are on steam. However, you literally have no other numbers to go off of, just your flimsy anecdotal evidence.

Take off your ZOS-hate tinted glasses.

I have the feeling they cut down on Ouroboros crates as well - the drop days are fewer, and I have had no drops the last couple of days. Strictly anecdotal, I know, but it fits the theme of too many gems floating around and ZOS trying to change that.

The whole thing just reeks of deceptive practices to milk the playerbase. It's no longer enough to exchange real currency for digital currency to buy a digital item. It's no longer enough to exchange real currency for digital currency for digital RNG crates for a CHANCE at a random digital item.

No, what we've got now is to exchange real currency for digital currency for digital RNG crates for a CHANCE at a random digital item that you can choose to destroy for yet another different digital currency to buy the desired digital item. That's ridiculous. How many layers of abstraction do you need, ZOS? I'm certain that they increase their profits with each additional layer too. But don't bother trying to figure out how much that 600 gem mount is actually worth in real currency, it's limited time after all so buy it QUICK!

Don't know what you are all moaning about, don't like the 600 gems don't buy it.
I had 600 gems from all the free crap I changed for gems so I got it. Simple.
I just want them to stop all mount, skin, more crap content, clothing, housing, all the things that don't matter and make the game work properly, sort ping out and put tin content that isn't brain dead boring.

Back in the day with Pay to Play only mmo's you could get any item in game by playing the game, but even as an ESO+ member mounts and other "cosmetic" items are behind a huge pay wall.

That it does. It feels gross logging on to see a giant ad every day, then we got ESO + exclusive "deals" & more extra advertisements. Now, they added this nonsense with the limited time gems only mounts. As if digital goods will expire or run out of supply. I have purchased plenty of crown crates and purchased lots of crown packs in the past (they can check my purchase history), but lately their more agggressive marketing has been in poor taste. Even if I have the gems, I wouldn't purchase this re-skinned mount. Maybe once they work on multiple bugs & start banning people who deserve it in pvp, then I'll support ZOS again. But it won't be through overpriced gem-only items.

I thought I'd be set to buy these limited time gem offers with my 400 or some odd gems saved up, given the apex mounts go for 400 gems. I wasn't expecting a raise up to 600 gems for a mount, but I guess zos knew people had a lot of gems saved up from free crates.

You make a good point. People often don't admit how many crates they bought for the Radiant Apex mount. How much money one spent on digital goods is a personal decision. However, a person could have bought 300 crates to get that Plague Horse, but tell you they just bought 4 crates and got lucky. It's hard to tell who is being honest.

People's posts get deleted quickly if it stops being too tame, if not worse. They can't do that deleting on reddit.

It has the same texture as the ice horse, which doesn't really look all that icy. The frost draugr senche looks icier than either of these. I'm disappointed in this mount. Glad I don't have 600 gems to waste on it.

I actually bought it by accident, meaning that I thought I was paying 600 crowns for the mount, thinking that is a nice bargain. But afterwards, I discovered too late that I had paid with crown gems. What’s done is done. It is not that I was doing anything with those gems anyway.

Funniest dang thing I saw yesterday was an Argonian with a mage hat on (I assume he was a sorc of some kind) riding a Dwemer spider at full speed with combat maneuvers (he was hauling across the landscape) with a chicken literally chasing him at full fly/run.

I simply can't get the image out of my head....

If you look out the window, most of life (politics, marketing, retail, finance, etc), seems to be an experiment to see how far they can push people people in order to make them think they got what they want.

(Also, I'm not looking forward to whatever badly-worded half-a** 'law' idiot Congress-critters come up with, that will end up screwing us over far worse than loot boxes ever did.
