Remember when daily log in rewards weren't even a thing. Nobody cared.

Now they're a thing and people expect too much and become more greedy. They don't offer crown crates. So what. Think back before when you didn't get any anyway. smh.

I would miss these crates, if they would drop something...interesting. Other than potions and poisons.
At least, I was pretty unlucky with them.

Not like my guild mate, who just logged on after months because he was bored, and got some cool cat mount.
Oh wait. Actually...me, playing the game every day, paying ESO+ why would I need such a thing...? How dare I think to get something more than potions? My apologies.

Sorry. Sometimes this frustrates me, but like life itself, games aren't famous for being fair. I (have to) accept that.

No body cared because we don't have enough players back then.

As I have said from time and time again, this is a necessary move in a marketing perspective to keep your customers on a tight leash specially in MMOs. You either adapt & innovate your product or wither slowly into oblivion, in other words, you can't stay the same as it was 4 years ago unless you want to expand.

So we have the first month of daily rewards where there is no crate and people already assume they are forever gone from the daily rewards table. Previously people were always crying about the mere existence of crown crates, some going as far as not even opening their free crates, and people were wondering why we don't get free mounts, pets, collectibles, etc. Mounts especially, because those who don't pay any money are stuck with the basic horses. And now people cry about getting a FREE GLOWING GUAR MOUNT and two hats, and NO CROWN CRATES. I'm seriously amazed by the community sometimes. We even got a DLC for free. And god knows how many pets. Why can't people be happy for free stuff?

I do not. I come off as someone who doesn't like being told how to spend my money, that I work my ass off to get.

I enjoy the surprise of crates and I like the collectables and I cash in what I don't want for gems to buy what I do want.

If I like to open some crates and maybe get a thing or maybe not (I never depend on getting anything FANCY) then why is it anyone else's business?

If anything, I'd think people would be glad that likely about 10% of us pay for all their freeloading no sub gaming time.

I am just staunchly against anyone telling anyone else what they can and cannot enjoy with their own time and money.

Edited to add: not like we’re all ‘everyone must buy sub or all dlcs or gtfo, and that is NOT fair for people to be able to tell people to spend what they don’t want to in a game; any more than it is fair for anyone to try and police what people DO spend.
You need to calm all the way down. I was only joking, If you didn't notice the "LOL" at the end there?

I'm kind of surprised by how quickly daily login rewards became all about free crown crates for some people. Especially since the crates themselves usually only give the kind of stuff you get from login rewards anyway. Just imagine this months crates give you 2 hats, a mount and some consumables and it comes to the same thing.

I wouldn't be surprised if their hope with giving out free crates was that we'd see how great they are and look into all the amazing stuff we can get from them and buy more, especially if you're just short of having enough gems for something you want. I also wouldn't be surprised if the exact opposite happened and players started buying less crates because they wanted to wait and see what they got for free first. Which might explain why we're seeing less of them in recent months.

Or it might be just that ZOS are still experimenting with different ideas, they've tried crates and not they're trying other things.

Or they know a lot of people are away in December and will miss a lot of days so they tried to avoid the kind of things that people complain about missing.

If the FTC bans loot crates, what direction do you think ZoS will go to make up for the lost revenue?

More crown store items at a higher price, my prediction. Or fixing game issues and making an overall better game to attract new and retain current players.

I hate to repeat myself but people lack insight on this matter.

As I have said from time and time again, ESO is rated M for Mature which theoretically, we shouldn't have any kids doing online gambling. So If under age kids got their hands on ESO, it is not ZOS's fault but the third-party resellers and parents buying them an M rated game.

Furthermore, the reason why loot crates created such an uproar that had FTC investigating this matter is that, under age kids becoming addicts to online gambling but also for ethical reasons. One of them is the companies preying on these children to enhance their gaming experience via pay to win mechanics inside gambling crates, EA's Star Wars:Battlefront II for example and casual mobile games.

2 hats I will never use, 1 mount I will use once to see how it looks than go back to mount I always use. GG, nice tradeoff gimme my crates back >.<

18k AP for ... Heck no clue I got everything I need after 3 years of playing, might just get those to help me rank up in the Alliance Rank.

2750 Tel Var stones, so that we do not need to waste those 15-45 minutes of our time to get them ourselves.

3k gold is a good joke, especially when not so long ago ZOS claimed there is 2 much gold in game issue yet they give it themselves now again.

Exp scrolls - good for newbies and new alts GJ, they will be able to jump faster to end-game
Tri stat potions - always welcome, saves a bit of my mats.
Poisons/Soul Gems - absolute garbage, well poisons might be good for PvP poison users.

Repar kits - good at vMA I guess ?

Overall, happy we get something, sad we get such garbage.

You can't please everyone all the time. And inevitably, displeased someones will complain.

I seem to recall that when ZOS announced the logon rewards, they said that each month would be different so that everybody would eventually get the kind of stuff they like, and in general there would be a variety of things to try out whether it was favorite stuff or not.

In general, most of the items are the kind of utility and consumable things that come in the Crown crates anyway, just without any RNG attached if it's a specific item. Once or twice a month, one of the better non-utility/non-consumable items comes up, RNG-free. Having crates just offers up some RNG chances for something better than consumables or utility items, FOR FREE. The rest of the time, it's mostly the various in-game currencies. Everybody can make use of them at some point.

About the only thing I never seem to find a use for is poisons -- I don't make use of that in my builds (at least not so far). I've deleted them if they pile up in inventory too much. But other folks probably find them helpful, so no worries. Before the rewards, I never used potions much. But with all the tri-potions piling up, I've found them useful, especially while tweaking a squishy character. And they tend to add up faster than I can use them, so it's turned out to be convenient -- and something I wouldn't have tried without being introduced to it with the rewards.

Giving away Murkmire didn't have to happen. (Yes, some may feel that Murkmire might have fallen short as a standalone DLC and would need to be sold at a reduced price, but still -- it didn't have to be free, not at all.) It's darn nice to give it for free to active players. ZOS definitely didn't have to do that, an I'm thankful they did.

I could survive just fine in the game without the freebies. But since I log on virtually every day anyway to do horse training / run something with guildies / just chill in Tamriel, it's no trouble at all to click a button and collect something that might be helpful or fun. And changing the lineup every month is nice, really. More variety.

It's free. Just enjoy it for what it is. B)

The main issue is that the whole ESO+ rewards system was to value those with a subscription. Instead, those exclusive 'deals' are more of a slap in the face. They used to give 6 free crates to ESO+ members during free ESO + events, now they don't. They're also being pretty cheap on crates in the daily logins. To me, these things don't show appreciation. No ESO+ members needs that many XP scrolls. If anything, it probaby kills revenue from the people selling Mythic Ambrosia.
