People expect free stuff all the time in this gimme gimme culture. People who like to play the game will see it as an extra treat. People who log in just for the free stuff will possibly suffer disappointment. Regarding the post that free repair kits will be missed, do equipment writs and you will get repair kits as part of the reward hand-in. You get out of a game what you put in. Put some effort into it. I was upset there are no crates, because I can’t afford buying them and I like costumes inside. Free ones gave me some gems at least, so I was always waiting for them impatiently.

✭✭✭✭It became clear a couple of months ago that they are better off giving out in game gold - it is just pixels, and people will use it to trade for stuff from the Crown store, and crown sellers spend actual irl cash on that - so Zeni would now prefer that rather than giving away crown stuff directly and not getting as much income as a result.
For me, personally, I really liked getting crates as login rewards. It's something I would never buy, so was a nice little bonus that was fun, just having the occasional crate to open to see what nonsense I got out of it. I really don't need alliance points or Tel Var and can't get excited about those rewards, it's just really bland. Same with the mounts and pets and costumes we've had, everyone gets the exact same thing. I'm a little sad to lose the crates but I can understand why they would take them out there were a lot of free gems coming at us. 0 -

You are obviously new in this type of industry.
It is a nice gesture but it is necessary in a marketing perspective so as an MMO dev, you'd have to improve the old system more so the paid ones if you want to keep your loyal customers on a tight leash, this is how the MMO business works. However, what ZOS's trying to display recently with all the in game nerfs and the nerfs on these "nice gestures" as you call them was aimed to please/help new & incoming players. To conclude it, they gave with one hand but take away with the other just to please the new child.people are really complaining about things they get for free? It's FREE. That's a huge assumption...Optimistically, they are being general with the rewards this month because people have lives during the "holiday" season and they'd rather we actually spend time with live human beings than worry about daily log-ons to a video game.
Is that why they have Events during every major holiday that are sometimes nearly month-long?

I do not. I come off as someone who doesn't like being told how to spend my money, that I work my ass off to get.
I enjoy the surprise of crates and I like the collectables and I cash in what I don't want for gems to buy what I do want.
If I like to open some crates and maybe get a thing or maybe not (I never depend on getting anything FANCY) then why is it anyone else's business?
If anything, I'd think people would be glad that likely about 10% of us pay for all their freeloading no sub gaming time.
I am just staunchly against anyone telling anyone else what they can and cannot enjoy with their own time and money.
Edited to add: not like we’re all ‘everyone must buy sub or all dlcs or gtfo, and that is NOT fair for people to be able to tell people to spend what they don’t want to in a game; any more than it is fair for anyone to try and police what people DO spend.Edited by Mureel on December 1, 2018 10:56AM3 -

I was hoping for (3) gems too but hee, it's just a little marketing to get people to log in and they will do that in december anyway, because of the events, tickets etc. Rather would have the servers not going down for maintanance on a saturday than get a crate.
