it will be a problem it will discriminate other players italians for example. game have chat zones for officially localized versions only.
you know when you are in a small company and you need to socialize with people in it but they deliberately use language you dont understand whereas they can speak yours then it can be rude. when you are on a street crowded by thousands of random people from all over the world which are chatting with each other while passing by you cant expect they will speak english only because you can occasionally hear their words. you cant tell them to go away because you cant understand their languages and it makes you anxious otherwise you are rude, dangerous to society and should be isolated.

Rip EU server. ☠️New Bethesda studio has been opened few weeks ago in Moscow and also there's a russian community manager for teso, at least thats how it was anounced in some videos. So prepare yourself Mother Russia is coming.

It was like this long before and will be long after. It's a bit like english for smaller area: language most common and understandable.
In their countries - sure. In internet? Not so sure. I see too much people using ukrainian on russian websites/social networks (which means they at least can read without any problems), and too much people making typical mistakes, and too much people normally using russian, but when discussions mention politics... Also meet quite many people only country/city in profile says they are not russian.StormChaser3000 wrote: »It's shrinking. Young generations in post Soviet countries use it less and less.

We'll see the dynamics in the future. Mentioned Ukraine, for example, is going to introduce more hours of English classes is schools while Russian was removed from almost all schools. Yes, kids will still learn it from parents (well, why not to know an additional language), but better knowledge of English will allow them to communicate more with English speaking communities and feel themselves more confident in English versions of games.
I was born in Eastern Europe and Russian is one of my native languages, but when choosing between between Eng and Ru version of MMO, I will never choose the second one. Partially this is due to the quality of translation and the voice acting (when Eng is original, Ru often sounds and looks meh. It just can't capture all sublties).
Single player games can be a different story tho.
Oh, come on, this forum buries servers every patch. I see often a German language in Auridon /zone, but all is ok: nobody crying, all playing as before. Also I see a lot of abusive language and flood in English, but again all people are satisfied.StormChaser3000 wrote: »Rip EU server. ☠️
Agree. More hours isn't high quality. To understand language you need to live with it. We learning simple British English when Internet very often is using an American English. Education preparing you for tourism level, you will never understand a literature language which is used in games, movies. Personally for me English sounds emotionless and I'd like to read/hear my native language than something that could means everything. Judging people who don't understand high level language they don't use in real life is stupid.Enemoriana wrote: »For most people school english wouldn't be enough. Belorussian, Russian and Ukrainian are pretty much the same except for minor differences, you won't see any other Cyrillic language being used, because the other people try to speak in English.
how do you know they dont try? do you have a special way to tell the difference between english speaking russian players and english speaking german players?
When they speak in Russian, it's obvious they aren't trying. If they are attempting to speak in English, then they are respecting everyone else who is trying which is commendable. You can't tell people's nationality by the way the speak English, why are you making an issue of that. It was never an issue.
so do you expect english skills from every single russian player? its ridiculous. eu is multilingual. its normal to see different languages in the chat. i dont know why its a problem for you. is it because of low self esteem?
Not really. We have RuESO - unofficial text localization. It isn't finished (about 60%, mostly AD remains), but still. So some russian players that use it doesn't really have even "basic understanding" of any other languages.Anyone playing this game has at least a basic understanding of either English, German or French, since those are the only flavours this game comes in.

For them we are still enemies, damn capitalists and they love every minute if they can do something to anoy us. Their society is build on principle that the cool guys are those, who can make others life miserable, you can get all the respect for doing such things. Thats why they love putin so much lol.
Some russian players here already stated that they dont want to see more of their natives here and it's because of what I said above.
Sorry, but it is still about politics for them than happy and healthy international gaming.
Sorry, it's YOU to whom this is politics and YOU stuck in the Cold War, soviet mindset, thinking to know Russians from the trash mass media, but actually having no clue. Citing one Russian guy shaming of his natives is by no means a set standard or hallmark. Again, that is so typical of Slavs to go against each other. I have never seen Germans, Brits or French being ashamed of what they are and how they write. Nor did I see threads here about Germans storming the zone chat (it happened so many times - zone, BGs, Cyrodiil). It's all about Cyrillic alphabet and Russians - 1000% politics, 0% tolerance or "happy healthy international gaming", as far as this thread goes. Luckily, in RL, it's much better.

I wouldn't buy a Russian game, because it's useless to me. Same goes for them the other way around. Anyone playing this game has at least a basic understanding of either English, German or French, since those are the only flavours this game comes in.

what makes you think so? what do mean by basic level? is it cefr a1 or something else? you dont need any language skills to buy a game and press a play button in the steam store because it has a localized ui. anyway other languages are not forbidden by rules thus you can think whatever you want about russians and other nationalities.
Well, didn't know about RuESO so there you go. xD I don't think I'd ever buy a game I'd only be able to play with the continuous support of one very specific add-on, but that's not up to me to decide for others.
There is no profit to make localisations for Ukrainians. It's because developers see that Ukraine will soon be wiped out from the world map. Guess by whom?Enemoriana wrote: »Also it's much easier to find russian localization of games than, for example, ukrainian.
