When was ESO the most "Balanced" in your opinion?

It depends on your playstyle. As a solo/cooperative non-competitive PvE player I've never noticed any adverse effects from changes with the various updates, where necessary I've found adapting to something like heavy attacks pretty intuitive, and with many characters of assorted classes and builds I've always found them all pretty balanced in what they can and can't do. I can appreciate that for those heavily into PvP or trials etc it will be very different.
@Tandor What hit my build the hardest with the resource nerf simply because I was a Khajiit Mageblade. I still have the video of my cute kitty beating V maelstrom and also our first VMOL first boss and second boss completion as my khajiit mageblade but lo and behold......nerf. High Elf it was. Of course I do have a Mageblade Khajiit still but you can tell the difference in resource management so the kitty is a heavy attack build. I just feel the race passives need a makeover so it's more friendly towards diversity in races but also keep some lore open. That's just my thought and what disappointed me the most in any update. It all comes down to the fact that I love cats.

At launch like basically ever MMO until the Min/Maxxers get their hands on it and create the "meta" everybody feels like they have to follow.

You really can play with almost any build you want in this game and could do all the content. Sure would it be harder and take longer yes, but it would be doable. You can't do that though cause even in guild runs people only really want to run with people that are doing the meta builds.

Tamriel Unlimited ruined ESO, and One Tamriel outright killed it

I think the game was better in the early days, but in no way was it more balanced which is what drove many of the changes.

Stamina builds simply didn't exist in end game content. You could run a stamina build in PvP but were laughed at if you showed up to a trial with a stamina build.

The stick and dress meta was the tank running sword and board, the other 11 wearing light armor and using 2 resto staves.

Yeah we should have known when Reso staff was more DPS then destro staff that ZOS would do some wtf kinda balance changes.

The Imperial City DLC i felt was the best all around balance. Everyone was strong, didnt matter your class, all that mattered was your skill level.

In terms of how well content was balanced to the amount of dps etc, it was 1.5. I guess this should really be called scaling. Anyhow, then they dropped soft caps and added champ points. People also discovered cheating soon after this. With all this stuff in play they have never done a half way decent job sense. Content now lurches between crazy easy, impossibly hard dps checks, or just unbelievably and pointlessly long fights. The quality mechanics on newer fights is also inconsistent. Sometimes good, other times inexcusable.

In terms of how resources and classes are balanced, it was probably the update before homestead. There were lots of compelling PVP and PVE builds for most classes and resource combinations. Raids tended to be the most mixed at that time and PVP groups were pretty mixed as well. Combat was also in a pretty good place as far as fluidity and fun though the proc sets were an issue. I believe that every single update since then has been a net negative. It's a pretty long unbroken record of failure at this point.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

      Balance -
The state in which the game gives me enough Advantages while giving differing builds a surplus of Disadvantages to make things "fair".

It's not really that "Unbalanced" now. I see the same tactics roughly working, the same set ups still being done. Some people just jumped on a "Nerfmire" bandwagon and changed EVERYTHING to compensate for the perceived "nerfs". Amateur move.
Things will normalize when our ever-famous Streamer Community puts out new "meta" setups for the uncreative and unskilled to get back to normal after freaking out about everyone saying this-or-that was nerfed to being useless and changing it instead of investigating or finding workarounds.
I mean, people can't be expected to think for themselves, right?

Probably before 1tam. I like a game having a progressive feel, like I am actually getting more powerful. and early game was fun when things were a challenge all the time. Now I cruise through the levels with crap gear, and nothings a challenge. I remember back when the main story was hard, and people actually had to back up a bit and watch what they were doing in solo instances. Now I have to solo "group" delves just to feel like i need more then my auto attack.

I wasn't a fan of having to run the Cadwell in a specific order, but I enjoyed the feeling that I got when I got to the next stage. I had accomplished something. Now I have a half dozen toons that have never completed the main story. It doesn't feel like I'm actually working towards something. There's no mountain worth climbing cause there's nothing at the top. No top really. Just a constant climb.

I was NOT a fan of the VR system though. It was horribly designed and punitive, and benefited a small group of class builds (remember Elder Staves Online? I do :P ). but the current sleep mode isn't necessarily any better. Course, CP may have allot to do with that, but I've ranted long enough. Most MMO's Glory days are the early ones, for sure.

before summerset you could use almost any set combos and do the same dps it was glorious... then time to sell summerset and farm some trials gear.

Has ESO ever really been balanced? Ive not been around since the early days but it seems like it’s just been in various stages of imbalance. Granted some were more fun and allowed for amazing 1vX builds, but calling it balanced wouldn’t be accurate I don’t think. That said I think it was more fun when sustain wasn’t such a drag and combat wasn’t a slop fest of snares and massive AOE damage and proc sets. I think the fun really started to be taken out of PvP with the Morrowind. It had its low points before that, the instakill stambalde proc meta was horrible obviously. It was fun when Stam DKs were gods in CP. Even as a PvP noob then I remember being able to survive and kill very easily. But that wasn’t balanced at all.

For me best update ever was homestead (2 much fun furnishing), tbh I see no balance in this game ever beside the nerf to proc sets patch. Now we have heavy armor tank meta in PvP or sneaky type, is there veen anyone still using Light Armor in Cyrodil ??? Shows how much balance game has...

I think it was the most fun when the game was still pretty new and we relied on skill to become powerful (as opposed to proc sets, enhanced weapons, etc.). The best time was back when IC was new.
