For pvp some time after 1.6 and before proc sets became overly toxic.

1.6 was the high point of the game for some people others prefer re tam one one was .5 hist patch

Early days of 1.6 befor player geting to much cps, that allowed them to perma dogeroll, block or having massive shilds in pvp. And to much damage negation and damage in evry pve content.
PVP Saint-Bud magicka Templar: AR 49
PVE Lord Victarion mDK : dro'm-Athra-Destroyer pre Morrowind retired for crafting
PVE Ramsay-Bolton magicka NB: Voice of Reason Clockwork City Patch retired
VAA hm/ VHRC hm/ VSO hm/ VMOL hm/ VHOF hm/ VAS hm clear

Stop playing PVE because its boring, content not disigned for melee players and class balance and sustain is ***

If having no CP is the best balance for you then would 1.5 not be the best answer?

1.5 was the best patch for me, but the game was called elder staff online those days, so for best best balance in game history i vote for a patch were stam has its place. But yes, 1.5 with a good stam and mag balance would the best for the game.

    1.6 handled stamina wrong.

There should have been all-stamina brawler classes and let the magical classes be magical so that there was more diversity all around.

Redesigning the morph system so that every morph needs and identical stamina counterpart was just a garbage idea if I'm being honest.

Stamina belongs in ESO, sure, but it needed it's own set classes and weapons, not to shoehorn in on magical classes

1.5 and 1.6 (before people got 1000 champion points in a month)

If ZOS had implemented the fixes in 1.6 without adding champion points, it would have been pretty balanced.

But removing softcaps meant that heals, shields, and damage scaled wildly with resource pools and that led to the 50% battle spirit nerf, probably the worst bandaid in the game.

I always find it amusing how ZOS says they don't want to balance PvP and PvE separately because people would not be able to transition easy between one and the other, and it wouldn't feel consistent.

And yet when you want to figure out how hard you hit, heal, or shield in PvP, you have to divide your damage in half from the tooltip. Yeah that's a consistent gaming experience.

But also need to quote this from @VaranisArano because it is straight truth.
"Balance" is an ever-moving target and often deliberately moved by the Devs to make players chase the meta and thus play the game longer than they otherwise would.

The only solution is to quit, accept that you have to regrind to be meta, or quit the rat race and be content to be slightly less good than the meta chasers.

Game balance and design comes from the marketing department in this game. Not from any desire to make the game feel better for the end user.

When Marketing people get to the top of a company, it RUINS products. Especially when you have a highly profitable monopoly (which ZOS almost has in this sector)
