When was ESO the most "Balanced" in your opinion?

One Tamriel was the last well played card from the Devs imo
off course "balance" is an "ever moving target" but instead of narrowing the balance curve, they are widening it 😵

Hypeing for a game is normal and okey, but telling that you play a game what you look down on is very strange and begs the question, why didn't you quit already.

I'm a casual player with one character that I play, so balance wise cannot say. It was after Morrowind and after Murkmire when I felt my character got weeker.

Many years later u will note all of this: lag, game crashes, more lag, long loading screens, more lag, premades ruining BG, broken npcs, set nerfs, gold sellers, the same type of mounts, more lag, the same type of pets, xp events (more lag), free crown crates (??), the same type of dlcs (always the same), maybe a new "pay to win class"- unbalanced (simil warden), "stuck in combat bug", animation cancelling, screen freezes, dye bugs....... but hey is my fault right??

ESO has never been "balanced" because regardless of the various nerfs and buffs to classes over the years, ZOS has NEVER figured out how to balance Stamina and Magicka. I fear that the flawed relationship between Stamina and Magicka is so entrenched into the game, a fix may not even be possible!

@Aixy I never said and implied that any of this bugs/errors etc is your fault. I just don't undestand why would someone play a game in her/his freetime what she/he clearly doesn't enjoy.

On topic as @Emma_Overload has a good point. Also there is the fact that in nearly all PvP/PvE games there are playstyles which few can play well, but they can dominate with such playstyle, and casual players who try to achive same results without succes will say that it needs a buff. On the opposite side many will call for nerf because there will be many who feel outperformanced by a niche playstlye.

Thus is why I am a skeptic of the term "balance" because what can seem OP can also be based on player skill as well.

Get me back to pre-MW changes to sustain, and keep rest as it is now. Murkmire is probably one of the more balanced patches ESO has had since 1T launched. Argueably, stamina are still favoured due to their mobility, except a few HA-stamina sets that's overperforming disgustingly when you add in the other variables into the equation..

But in general this patch isn't too shabby. (Before the bleed meta-bois came in to the picture tho).

Probably prior to One Tamriel, which substituted horizontal progression and meta chasing rat races for the previous grindy vertical progression.

Now, I have no desire to go back to the game prior to One Tamriel, but since then, the Devs deliberately nerf the meta so people have to grind new gear/classes just so they can stay on top.

"Balance" is an ever-moving target and often deliberately moved by the Devs to make players chase the meta and thus play the game longer than they otherwise would.

The only solution is to quit, accept that you have to regrind to be meta, or quit the rat race and be content to be slightly less good than the meta chasers.

At least all of the gear is "free". Imagine playing a P2W game where everything is gained through paid chests. And then they nerf what you spent hundreds/thousands developing. The whales laugh and spend more money, everyone else resigns themselves to being second-class citizens.

Or what about the game model where the company comes out with a new (paid) expansion, and all the old gear is completely obsoleted by quest greens and blues?

I have personal experience with both of these models. ESO is sunshine and rainbows in comparison.

If game "imbalance" (changing meta) is a consequence of the level of itemization that ESO allows (instead of having a few completely OP sets) then yes please.

When soft caps were a thing. I guess 1.5. Although DK's were really OP and nb's were underperforming, i still remember 1.5 being pretty okayish
        NB enthusiastic:
        1. Woodhippie stamblade - DW hard-hitter / PvE
        2. Know-it-all elf Magblade - Healer / PvE & PvP
        3. Hate-them-all elf Magblade - Destrostaff AoE monster / PvE
        4. Cyrodiil-Refugee stamblade - Stamina Tank / PvE

        Go dominion or go home

Nightblade-Hipster. I played Nightblade before it was cool - from 1.5 onwards.

        Balance -
The state in which the game gives me enough Advantages while giving differing builds a surplus of Disadvantages to make things "fair".

It's not really that "Unbalanced" now. I see the same tactics roughly working, the same set ups still being done. Some people just jumped on a "Nerfmire" bandwagon and changed EVERYTHING to compensate for the perceived "nerfs". Amateur move.
Things will normalize when our ever-famous Streamer Community puts out new "meta" setups for the uncreative and unskilled to get back to normal after freaking out about everyone saying this-or-that was nerfed to being useless and changing it instead of investigating or finding workarounds.
I mean, people can't be expected to think for themselves, right?

Balance = everyone on the same par or level.. everything being equal..

I like where the game is now. You have lots of viable build variety, and this is not something we have had ever in the past.

Sure enchant meta dot meta, but thier is always the meta. Atleast we now can effectivly counter meta specs instead of just re rolling to a 1.5 sword and shield mag DK.

Past patches have always felt so limited, and the meta has been much more powerful in compasison to metas today. so balance wise i think the game is best today.

Now lag on the other hand... it honestly seems worse now then in the past. lag wise i want 1.5 back.

The day before One Tamriel turned ESO into Disneyland.

agreed. no levels and scaling is a horrible idea for a MMO, essentially TAM one was NGE for star wars galaxies. even the biggest IP ever could not survive bad decisions post development
