Amazon delivery solution

  • redefinedechoub17_ESO
I guess this is going to go unanswered. I've emailed them and offered to pay for my 30 days upfront while my retail copy is in transit, but even that didn't get a response. Reps are responding to bugs and other gameplay issues but ignoring those of us who have paid and are willing to continue paying to keep our game running while this "mishap" is taken care of.

Here is my interpretation of what SHOULD have been said, but wasn't.

PS: Zenimax: your PR person SUCKS. I can not even believe that PR would have told you to remain silent. That person is due for relocation, if ya catch my drift.

Anyway, Dear Zenimax, I wrote this letter for you so you don't really need to think anymore. It contains all of the things you should have said 24 hours ago, and still allows for you to put the blame on Amazon. Ready? Here it goes, with many declaimers:

This is the CS announcement that Zenimax SHOULD have made, but didn't:

NOTE: WHAT FOLLOWS IS NOT AN ACTUAL REPLY, IT IS MERELY WHAT MY PR DRIVEN BRAIN HAS CONCOCTED. IT IN NO WAY REPRESENTS ZENIMAX OR ANYTHING OFFICIAL AT ALL. (see how I totally redacted any responsibility from Zenimax there?)

What should have been said 24 hours ago: (and wasn't, and still hasn't been) :

Dear Customer (or appropriate gaming type salutation):

It has come to our attention that many of you are experiencing delays in receiving your physical copies of The Elder Scrolls Online. We are deeply sorry for this issue. (note: this expresses remorse and compassion for what folks are dealing with)

While we can not hasten delivery of your product to you (note: places blame elsewhere here without actually blaming any company), we want to show goodwill and appreciation for those that pre-ordered physical editions of the game, and to the community as a whole. (note: this makes them sound like they are awesome, and fighting the good fight for the little guy).

In order to alleviate these problems, we are extending the early access cut off until Tuesday (insert some bull**** time that is way off what I deal with as time on the West Coast here. I suggest noon, EDT, as that gives pretty much the entire world enough time to sort stuff out). This should solve game access issues for many, if not most, of those effected.

In the event that this does not solve your issue, please contact (insert some dedicated service reps that have some authority to make a decision here). We will do our best from this end to rectify the situation.

We want to express thanks to the fans of Elder Scrolls and the community as a whole for helping to make this version possible. We could not have done it without you.

    Sincerely,
some EOS suit's name gets inserted here, with title, cuz that makes us feel like someone is ACTUALLY paying attention.

AGAIN: THIS IS NOT AN ACTUAL RESPONSE. THIS IS ONLY THE RESPONSE THAT I THINK SHOULD HAVE BEEN GIVEN TO THE COMMUNITY.

PS: ZOS: you totally have my permission to copy and paste this letter to the responses you are sending people. My response is WAY better than the response you've given to your customers. Please feel free to use it. I release any claims to it, in any way.

Also, ZOS: when you're ready to fire that balogna piece of Banta dung running your PR office, I'm available. PM me for a resume.

My standard edition was delivered by UPS on Friday...to someone else. My replacement is coming from Amazon tomorrow. Honestly, when I saw that the early access grace period was ending Sunday morning, I was surprised but not worried. I was sure someone over at Zenimax/Bethesda would hear a chorus of folks with delivery problems and extend early access through at least Sunday night if not through Monday or Tuesday. What did surprise is that never happened. I was pretty disappointed to get up this morning and find myself locked out.

Any official word regarding the mysterious extended play time?

Don't get me wrong, I am definitely not complaining about this. It is just weird, though, that they wouldn't put an announcement out about it......

In fact, the banner announcement I had this morning said "Early access now closed".

ZOS: I know you're out there. For the love of freaking Pete, PLEASE JUST MAKE AN ANNOUNCEMENT. I even wrote a letter for you to copy/paste in this very thread.

My C.E. was slated for release date delivery and the day before release Amazon had to estimate a new delivery because they didn't have the item. Amazon's delivery estimate isn't always correct but it sounds like it was a Zenimax distribution problem. Might be why they aren't responding.

Posting this here in this thread in an attempt to keep this on top.

The hardest question for us remains - will we quit because of this trashy treatment or not? In the end, ZOS believes they have us by the balls. They think so highly of themselves that they don't believe we'll go anywhere and are treating this thread like simple whining.

What I'm frustrated about at this point is feeling completely powerless. Nothing I can do will really make a difference at this point - not boycotting this franchise, continuing to try to get support, or continuing to hope for some kind of response. But you know what? Here's a reality check for you ZOS -

SWTOR was hyped up more than this and their customer base evaporated practically overnight because of let-downs that started with customer service and ended with content. This game isn't nearly as anticipated or popular as SWTOR was and their player base practically vanished. If you hope to keep your game P2P and in demand, start by taking care of the people that support you instead of spitting on them.

Now, Bioware have their ducks in a row where customer service is concerned. But, guess what? It's too late. Most of their players have left and even bending over backwards will do nothing to bring them back.

I made similar "mistake". Preordered physical Imperial Edition. It arrives tomorrow. Thought I would chill out in Tamriel after doing yard work etc - and I am locked out.... So as everyone else is saying - Although I will be online tomorrow I am sure - it is annoying that Zenimax did not really think through the issue of time to physically mail these things and how that would create issues given a Friday launch day....

It looks like our suspicions were proven. ZOS, in fact, does not care about what their customers have to say. The sister thread to this has been closed. Quoting the mod:

"Greetings everyone. As it appears that the comments are no longer adding to a constructive conversation, we will be closing this thread at this time. We understand that sometimes people may not agree about certain issues and that tempers can run high when there are frustrations, but it is never okay to reply with hostility towards one another. Please keep all conversations and disagreements civil, constructive, and on-topic. Thank you."

No longer adding constructive comments? No. That is not the case. A few people got upset, but that is no reason to close a thread. The real reason this was closed is that ZOS wanted it closed to try and silence us.

When the constructive comments turns into people repeating others names in every post just to argue, then yeah, its not very constructive. Didn't know you were speaking for ZOS now, eh?

It is getting rediculous now with no messages to the people, as things seem to be blowing up on twitter, facebook, and the forums. Hopefully they make the right move, and extend the grace period for people and fix there accounts so they can log on.

It's never a good sign when the Thought Police™ arrive and start locking the place down.

To be honest, I'm surprised it took this long. They just want us to all go away and leave them alone, and this is their way of handling it.

I find it ludicrous that they could read enough of that thread to deem it non-constructive without replying to at least one of the constructive statements in the thread before they closed it. There was plenty of comments in that thread that deserved an answer, but alas, no statement from Zenimax.

If the conversation is going to remain constructive, it's time for Zenimax to provide a substantive response to the issues with physical Collector's Editions. As far as I can tell, we have a whole gamut:

    1) Items not shipped on time, resulting in players being locked out after Early Access ended today. This appears to have affected multiple retailers including Amazon, BestBuy, GameStop, EBGames and others. I feel like that points the finger firmly at Zenimax and the suppliers they hired to get the games assembled and to the distributor.

    2) Items arriving damaged or incomplete and Zenimax passing the buck. The Molag Bal statue seems to have had some production issues for a number of people ranging from needing filing to having broken parts. The best response I've seen was from the company that made the statue instructing someone who paid $100 for the box to use super glue (which melts this type of plastic) to repair the item. Brilliant customer service right there. I've also seen reports of people having no codes printed, or codes so poorly printed as to be illegible. While it's all fine and good to refer people to their retailer in these cases, that makes the assumption that these retailers are going to be able to magically conjure additional copies of a limited run item.

    3) Items that just aren't going to arrive. Clearly, the Imperial Edition was oversold by at least Amazon, if not other retailers. Is Zenimax going to do anything to protect pre-order benefits for people affected by this?

    Here's a roadmap Zenimax:
Step 1: Apologize, for anything you did wrong, for anything the people you hired/contracted with did wrong. It costs you nothing and acknowledges our frustration.

Step 2: Commit to fixing the deep issues that caused these problems. It makes us feel better.

Step 3: Affirmatively and confidently state that your customers will be taken care of. Give us a reason to pay you $15 a month. Assure me that even if my box never shows, YOU will ensure that I have the opportunity to buy a pre-order Digital Edition, and make that same promise to people who may have to return their boxes due to damaged items.

Step 4: Update your Customer Service reps about your plans and DEMAND that they use appropriate responses and actually read tickets. When your submission website says the ticket is going to a real person and I consistently get copy-paste responses that are out-dated before I even receive them, you sow ill-will. Please at least delete the stupid responses before you let any more tickets be answered.

Kinda the opposite approach to what I was saying. It makes me mad that they were watching the thread, but made no attempt to answer any of the constructive comments on the thread. Instead they just waited until they decided it was justified that they close it.

There was only one person in-sighting that IMO and unfortunately it looks like that person decided to come to this thread too. So it won't be long before this one is shutdown too.

It's not you by the way.

Sure does. They quick to respond to that, but absolutely hesitant on saying anything about a grace period and the likes. But i truely do feel its just a whole lot going on behind the scenes than we know, but still doesnt excuse them for not giving people some sort of a response by now.

Purchasers of the most expensive version of ESO like myself should NOT be penalized by having their access revoked until the shipment arrives. This is absolutely ridiculous and NOT the fault of the customer.

    a) An apology is in order.
    b) Grace period absolutely has to be extended.

I must say, a HORRIBLE WAY to treat customers of physical collector's edition, plain and simple.

Keeping it on OP. Is that what everyone else is looking for? mainly an extension of the grace period?

But i am sure some orders have to be still wondering around not being shipped yet, im wondering how many people are in that boat, rather than working on the grace period.

its hard to differentiate whos order is lost out in the "wilderness" to whos already getting and it and wants the grace period extended. BY means both parties want the extension granted, but at the same time, how long till these orders get to these people i wonder. Whats the latest date yet? ive heard the 10th.
