Nope well worth it to me, ESO is one of the two MMo's I play and I spend 75% of my free time in a MMO.

More and more states are starting to do this now.

Not paying taxes on out of state purchases was a great way to save money.

I figured that would come to an end sooner or later.

I canceled my monthly till the yearly comes out (I'm on xbox). It'll be about the same price, or a little less depending on the tax percentage. Massachusetts 6% for me.

Does the tax go by a certain state or the one you're in?

I have always said 99.99 for a yearly sub to any MMO worth playing is the sweet spot. Dropping a buck per month here and a buck per month there isnt enticing anyone to join longer. The people who are going to sub anyway will pay whatever. "giving' them the discount just makes those guys feel a little better about themselves.

But 99.99/yr can be justified for people who arent playing every day or even taking weeks off at a time. The discount is real enough to have them sign up. That saves them from looking for 'free trials' or 'special' offers just to log in when maybe they wouldnt normally.

But it still comes down to maths...14.99 randomly 7 times a year for these people outweighs the 99/yr [price. But I suspect some of these people dont sub for 6 months out of the year and if they do it might be a couple 3 month options. So whomever the bean counter is has to figure out if such a deep discount gets more flies than the money they would get from random monthly sign ups when people feel the urge to play for a little bit.

But what is also sometimes lost is the idea of a perpetual sub itself. If youre signed up for a year youre just paying a bill here and there. I know the monthly bill is similar psychologically. BUT it also means if youre paying for a year you might not log in as much (trying to feel like youre getting your monies worth) Which ironically is better for the game as it lessens load and resources but theyre already paid up front. Its more of a psychological and frugality/cheapskate process for the player though. The companies always cater to the fans for some reason who will always pay to play. But they have to start appeasing the people who are looking to play an MMO fairly steadily but also offer a price point they can justify as a yearly expense. Especially when there are so many half decent free to play MMOs out there.

These new sub changes seem OK but theyre still not nearly enough to attract people who dont sub already. Because crowns are crowns and people will always wait for those to go on sale, so offering another 150/mo as part of a sub people are already getting isnt going to change much. If they want to give 'loyalty' that would be a next step. Start with the cheap yearly subs then start handing out loyalty rewards (that are decent) for people who sub for x amount of months and years in a row. Most dont do that because those 'deals' actually do offer something 'special'.

Or they could scrap it all the sub stuff and rent the bottomless bag for 9.99/mo or 99.99/yr on its own.

yeah I would guess lowest they would go would be 129.99 MAYBE 119.99 (basically 9.99/mo).

119.99 might get a few people to bite on a year long commitment, but a lot of the people like me who go through phases with this game (logging in for more than daily reward and actually playing it for extended periods) will still buy a month here or there when the urge hits them.

I'm with you. $9.99 per month is what I consider reasonable for any MMO I play. Perhaps because I like to play more than one at a time, and often switch up which I'm playing more than the others.

Ideally that would be the month at a time rate, with lower rates still for multi-month plans.

But I would hope ESO is at the $9.99 monthly price point for the 12 month plan.

Ha! If you meant US $9.99/mo, that is. Long term use of Skooma is bad for you. At best, it will be US$11.99/mo. There is a fair chance it will be somewhere between $11.99 and $12.99. I am pinning "at worst" being $12.99/mo.

I am still figuring that they think that people will bite at anything at about US$150 for 360 days. Nice round number, pretty much selected at random, and that seems to be how they operate. That means $12.50/mo, give or take. Since they seem to have a thing against even numbers, call it $12.49/mo, or $149.88 for 360 days. Whether they also sneak in a price increase for the shorter terms is yet to be seen. Remember, they are increasing the Crown allocation. They would not tell us that this also includes an increase in ESO Plus pricing until they are closer to Nov 13.

As people said in the other topic where you asked this question they don't charge US tax to non-US residents. But many other countries charge taxes on digital purchased too, and if that's the case where you live then ZOS are legally required to collect and pass on that tax to your government.

Yeah, I'm aware of the exchange rate, I was more commenting on the availability of having multiple month options at a discounted rate, not specifically the single-month rate comparison.

However, at 8.99 pounds per single month. The current exchange rate is 1 pound = 1.30 USD. 8.99 x 1.30 = $11.69 per month. That's still a sizable discount any way you slice it.

The price stays the same but the exchange rate keeps changing, sometimes it's a better deal, sometimes it's about the same and sometimes it's worse. The worst was when the pound crashed at a time when the dollar was rising and UK residents actually ended up paying significantly more. Although I think paying more for ESO+ was the least of anyone's worries at the time, it's amazing how much chaos can be caused by half a country agreeing something should happen in 2 years time.

I assume if the exchange rate ever shifted long-term they'd adjust the prices...although that's only happened once when they put the UK price of crown packs up, and funny enough it never went down when things went back to normal.

It's a shame there's no way to choose which currency to pay with, although I don't have a US bank account any more so I suspect the fees on paying in a foreign currency would wipe out the benefits.
