This is how I feel right now. Paid for the most expensive version of the game, and barred from playing because Gamestop hasn't delivered my game (and won't until Wednesday). It's almost as if Zenimax looked at every successful policy in MMOs then said "Yeah, let's not do ANY of that".

Under any other circumstance, I would say this is unrealistic from a business perspective, and absurd to expect.

    However,

It seems to be the only viable option to make customers happy again.

Should Zenimax worry about extending the grace period say, 3, 4 days, to people who bought that game (Generally the CE), or have very angry fans, and have this blemish on their company launch history.

Same here. We have the Early Access code tied to our account, so we clearly have the game, why kick us out? I preordered on EBGames and the tracking code they sent me shows that expected delivery is April 8th. That is very unfair seeing as we paid the most money!

I am very much in the same boat right now. Physical Imperial buyers have been screwed, again! The other was with no preorder items during early access which those who bought the digital versions have. They are screwing over those who are obviously the biggest fans of the game and now I can't even give them another $78 for my 6 month subscription. Very bad business!

I agree this was not thought through or planned out correctly for people who bought physical copies. Its more of an insult for people who ordered Imperial Editions. I hope it is addressed soon and corrected.

The fact of the matter is, it wouldn't hurt them ONE BIT to extend the grace period until this upcoming Friday. It's going to hurt them QUITE a bit if they don't. The people affected are the ones who paid the $100 for the Imperial Edition. It already hurts to have hundreds of $60 copies coming back. Imagine thousands of $100 copies, that after word of mouth gets around, will sit in a warehouse unsold. They need to do the right thing, but they obviously don't care. This has been going on for 8 hours now, and not a peep from them, other than to assure us how "easy" it is to sub....

Not that I am defending them but you do realize that they had no control on when the games were shipped to you only when they were shipped to the retailers which happened a while ago. So if it is taking a while for you to receive your copy then that is a fault of your retailer not Zenimax. And just so no one thinks its different with the digital. Some received their codes sooner others later depending on were they purchased the game because most retailers had the codes much sooner than the games impending release but were to wait until a agreed upon time and day to send them to their costumers. So again if you had trouble getting your purchase start looking toward the guy you purchased it from which in this case is more than likely not zenimax the developer.

Same here. Ordered the expensive physical version from Amazon.com. I have gone through numerous beta weekends and now through the early access. I won't be getting my physical delivery until Monday. So, Zenimax rewards me with kicking me out of the game. Way to go! Apparently, not a lot of thought went to much of the logistics of this game. During the betas I was disappointed with their ignoring the most obvious bugs in quests, trading, and other issues from one beta to the next. Yet, I dutifully reported them. Now, another thank you of being shut out of the game.

    Sigh....another fanboi,

Yes, it is ZOS's fault. Retailers have been dropping the ball on releases, we know this. Guess what? MMO companies have mostly prepared for this by extending grace periods. EA gave swtor a total of 10 days to have your code entered. The 10 days counted towards your first free 30 days.

Its sad when EA, a company thats known for nickle and diming its customers, handled this better than ZOS is.

Having worked for Gamestop for years, I can safely tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about. Yes, Gamestop probably had the copies for about a week. Know what else they have? A contract with the publisher not to ship them until a certain date, and another on when they can put it on the shelves. I had copies of movies and games for several days prior to release in the store, but was threatened with punishment by law if I sold them before a certain time. So no, this IS Zenimax's fault, no matter how much you want to play the fanboi for them. Want to know yet ANOTHER reason why it's their fault? EVERY game with an early release in recent history has allowed at LEAST 5 days after launch for just this reason. Not everyone is going to get their copy of the game 1 day after release. That expectation is stupid.

You know, if it were only one or two retailers having this issue, I would believe you. But here's the deal - read the threads, people are having this problem with Best Buy, Amazon, GameStop, EB Games and shops I've never heard of in Europe. In fact, we might be hard pressed to identify a single retailer that got all of its CEs out on time. And these are not little names in the "shipping video games on time for pre-release" industry, they do this A LOT, and most of them do it with far better results than we are seeing here.

So what's the common factor? Zenimax. Something that Zenimax did or directed, whether that was the shipping timeline, or management of getting the proper quantity of boxes from suppliers to distributors, caused this to happen. The USPS, Fedex and UPS did not wake up on April 3 and decide not to deliver these boxes. EVERY supplier across two continents did not forget to put a reminder in their calender to get these boxes out on the 2nd or 3rd.

Either they did not have the boxes because the supply chain was borked (and that's on Zenimax to choose good suppliers and keep them moving), or they had their hands tied by a shipping embargo or other restriction from Zenimax.

This is not a "too bad, so sad, get with the future and buy digital" situation. This is a Zenimax promised and could not deliver and they expect their customers to be happy with that.

    Of course that's true.
But there is a grace periode, because everbody knows many boxes/keys will not be delivered on release day. Apparently that's also true for the day after the release day, and in many (most?) countries there is no delivery on sunday.

The sad thing is that TESO had a very smooth launch so far, and after all of their technical achievements, they are burning parts of their merits by ending the grace period on sunday and requiring payment checks...

The sad thing is that the item is actually pretty good, the CE art book... is just exquisite, like leather... but sigh... why can't 3 & 5 day access just have 30 days attached... why can't we decide on a sub or other payment after the 30 days... only bureaucracy can create this current situation, and it's only going to hurt the game in the end...

Yeah I've played every ES game since Daggerfall, always been a huge advocate for the series and company (not that I expect anything from it, just how I felt) and once I get my refund I am going to happily walk away and never look back. :)

Overall, WE will get burned by this. This will turn off prospective players. In turn, there will be less people to play with, and less money coming into Zenimax, which in turn will translate into even worse customer service and low quality content. Like I said somewhere, it wouldn't hurt them ONE BIT to extend the grace period for a week and take that time out of our 30 days. It's how almost EVERY recent launch has handled it. It's going to wreck them if people flee from this game in droves due to poor customer service.
