well im actually the original Lord Noctus. the game final fantasy got released 2016 november when i remember right and release of eso was 2014 april. im a beta player so i had this name before final fantasy was even a thing. the big coincidence is that the protagonist of that game is royal making him a lord too >.< (making it nowadays rly hard to use that name in other games)
im just more active at night also like the deadric prince Nocturnal. i have been playing elder scrolls games before eso and see my character as a "antihero". im refered by friends sometimes as Lord of the Darkness which i actually kinda like :D . dont get me wrong im not goth or anything i just like the dark romanticism.
what also rly fits into it all im playing a NIGHTblade (magblade to be exact). thats my only character....

I always call my main character in western RPGs Danielle Aurorel. Danielle goes back to Ultima Online and is literally just a name I liked which stuck. Aurorel goes back to Neverwinter Nights and means dawn star in Latin/Quenya.

But in TES games I always play a khajiit so I made it Danika instead, to sound a bit more like a khajiiti name. (I did play with adding a hyphen or apostrophe to make it look like there's a prefix/suffix but I didn't like how it looked.) I included the surname because just Danika was taken. The story is she adopted the surname from my other main character to try and fit in better when she moved to Highrock.

I used Danielle Aurroel for my 'second main' who is a breton warden. It's even sort-of lore friendly because a lot of breton names are influenced by French.

I'm not strict about choosing lore appropriate names, but I do try to pick something which won't stand out as obviously not a Tamrilic name, unless I'm deliberately making a joke character or a cosplay one.

My very first ESO character has got my usual nickname I had use back then: Eremith, which is a variation of Hermit, Eremite.

Now I mostly use Ermiq, so my other characters are:
Ermiq Flamehold (DK), because, you know, DK holds a fire, a flame inside, kinda simple.
Ermiq Forsair (Warden), 'forsair' is a Scottish(Gaelic) word which means forester, woodman, because trees, flowers, animals...

And I have a couple of female Dunmeri ladies:
    Templar healer Healyu Virian,
    NB thief Stealyu Virian,
because, as you already got it, Naryu is awesome. :)
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

I had no originality, so I picked a name from one of my SWTOR toons that fit her, "Brenna Tellan." She's been deleted since. Don't know why I made it up in the first place when I was playing SWTOR. I'm using the same last name now on my main Breton mage, "Helena Tellan." My other alts are a little more Tamriel-friendly, if not perfect.

When I created first char I thought it should be same as account name, and my name is Martin, but it was obviously taken by someone already, so I changed it to Martini... and added fitting whiskey name.

My second char is classical elf tank, so I took Aribeth as name from Neverwinter Nights elf paladin and a tribute to now half-dead Bioware and AD&D system (though NWN was already a backstab to AD&D).. and Laphroaig as a surname - this is very spectacular scotch whiskey btw.

But actually I prefer Johnny Walker so my healer was named Mercy (OW, sic :s ) Walker.. result sounded more like a death knight then a healer, so I was forced to pay enormous sum to switch her race and name to something more inspiring like Amari Owlker (Amari - nickname of healer Ana from OW, owlker sounds almost like "walker", and also there was that amazing OW skin for Ana with owl).

My Imperial guy is called Valerian Africanus - Valerian from SC2, Africanus - from Roman history - Scipio Africanus.

A long time ago, in a teenage fantasy far, far away, I imagined myself a Celtic warrior much like Sláine from 2000AD (the brit cult comic in the 1980s for those unfamiliar with it). A legendary warrior needs the love of a good woman, a heroic, skilled, assertive and completely mental woman.... his wife, Níamh.

Wikipedia has this to say about her, woefully short though it is to describe a woman of such legendary anger:

"Slaine's strong-willed wife. She is very assertive even for a woman of her times and prone to anger and jealousy, often beating up Slaine's other wives and concubines."

It also neglects to describe her fighting abilities, being as she was also a skilled warrior.

The idea of such a woman certainly left an impression on the putty of a young and imaginitive D&D player's mind and she has lived on ever since in many gaming fantasies. :*

(With a foot-note to the effect that although my now wife is not called Níamh, she is certainly prone to anger and jealousy, although I am not stupid enough to entertain other wives and concubines for her to beat up.)

My others(argonian mostly, again due to my iksar main and I liked the naming tradition) Blood that Howls(ww stamsorc) Black of Soul(mnb) and Makes Grass Grow(magward. I'm coming from a role play background, also in ESO mostly interested in RP / PvE / questing, so I tried to name my (2) characters in a way that the name reflects the story behind somehow.

My main character - Eryn Oakthorn - is a Bosmer Jaqspur Archer with a "prickly" and quick temper. I wanted the name to be lore-friendly somehow, so a reference to trees (the oak for possessing a steadfast heart) and the thorny part of her personality seemed fitting. As for "Eryn", it's a gaelic name which originally means "Ireland". I just like the sound of it and it also somehow refers to the Wood Elves' Green Pact (Ireland > Emerald or Green Isle).

Unfortunately I chose Nightblade as class, I would have loved to make her a Warden archer with all the nature references this class has, but I created her much earlier and deleting was out of question. The NB skills just don't match her personal sense of ethics (with all the thieving, murdering and stabby-stabby), so I really hope we will get the possibility for a class change some day. Trying to do bosses and dungeons mainly with archery skills is really challenging, at least for me. Here the Warden pet bear would help a lot.

My second character - Hild Hognisdottir - is a Nord Warden Side-Tank I just created a few weeks ago. I'm not sure yet in which direction she might develop, but to date, she focuses on the Frost Magic part and some healing and uses sword+Shield which is a lot of fun.

As for her name, Hildr or Hild is one of the Valkyries in Norse mythology, a personification of battle. Hildr is attested in the Prose Edda as Högni's daughter and Hedin's wife in the Hjaðningavíg. She had the power to revive the dead in battlefields and used it to maintain the everlasting battle between Hedin and Högni. (source: Wikipedia)

So she is a true Nord, with an icy aura and glacial presence... ;)

Unfortunately I don't have time for more characters, even the second one is a challenge to level. A healer would be interesting I think, maybe some day. :)

I like making names that are relatively lore-friendly. My first/main character is an Altmer called 'Ceremo Highfort'.

'Ceremo' just popped into my head when I was trying to think of an Altmeri sounding name, and then I decided he needed a grandiose sounding surname even though it's rare for Altmer to have one. I was inspired by the Daggerfall naming section on UESP and ended up with 'Highfort'. I consider that to be the Tamrielic translation, unfortunately I can't find an in-game source of what the Altmer word for 'fort' is so I don't know what it is in his native language.

My solution would have been to find another source of Elven. Even though it would not be technically Aldmeri. It would at least appear more so than Highfort. Take what you can get.

My first character has awful name, the only one from 11 whose name I really hate :D The reason is: when I was creating him, all nice names I wanted to use were already in game... And I didn't have time to think about something good, I just wanted to start playing. That's why he has such a weird name; he is khajiit magblade and I have race change token waiting for him - but I still haven't used it cause he needs "race+name change token" and those were not on discount yet :/

I just took the family name from my second (or third? IDR anymore) Oblivion character and I invented a male name for it (Ethim seemed like a cool name at that time... and I created a male char first, since at that time I was uncomfortable playing female characters in an MMO :P )

The family name which in turn comes from one of the names for Dragon Age Origins human character origins (Amell) which I was really into at that time, and I just modified just a bit adding an 'n' to it, so it wasn't that recognizable  (but I later realized that was also the family name from another fictional character that I didn't knew about at that time...)

My Oblivion character was called Liana Amnell (a Breton Spellsword which I started playing around 2010), and I created a version of her as Sorcerer a bit later too (so sad that I chose EP for her... I would totally change alliance now if I could :D)

My templar is called Lehnnan due to that being my favorite Baldur's Gate character I ever played... a female ranger called Lennan... I just added an 'h' at the time I created the ESO character... don't know why and I still regret that :S

All the rest come from the UESP lore friendly characters names and tes name generator... with some tweaks, like Artorias instead of Artorius (in part also because I like the knight Artorias from Dark Souls)
