Why put a different timer on dremora skulls then normal world events?

I do not recall the time I did different events yesterday and should not have to track it like this.

If Zos wants to have this absurd timer they can at least have a means for us to know when that timer is up.

There is your big deal. Poor planning. Poor implementation.

Edit: it also means that many will miss out on one feather per event.

It’s up 20 hours after you do it..

Edit: I understand no one wrote down what time they did anything yesterday but surely you can do them again today and base off that for the rest of event. Or just rant about it here and don’t do event at all.

Can you tell me when I started yesterday and order I did things in? I have yet to get a dremora skull yet.

Way I see it is Its free stuff for doing normal activities, it's all good. Sure I'll miss a bit here or there but it's all good.

I'll caveat again I do know timers are annoying when they are unclear or uncommunciated, I get that. But the max out 100% mindset seems a bit full on if it leads to upset.

Not trolling, and can sympathise, just my view.

You misunderstand. It has nothing really to do with 100% maxing events. It 's something much more general than that. There are things in our daily lives as well as in games that are so unremarkable and trivial that we just tune them out and do them on auto pilot without even thinking about them because they're just not worth our attention.

Daily event timing is one of those things in ESO. I've been here for 4 years+ and the new day starts at 11 PM my local (Pacific) time. I don't have to think about it nor do I want to think about it. It's just the way it has always been in ESO. I can focus instead on doing the fun things playing the game and just rely on that trivial new day start to carry on as it always has.

This has shaken up that triviality and forced it onto our consciousness for no discernible good reason. It's an annoyance that we didn't need and that has no upside.

    Understood.

I used to do daily writs before work, they moved the timer 1hr. I then couldn't, annoying.

But my point stands, the timing only matters if you want the max amount, play daily and want to hit them all. If you wait a day the reset time doesn't matter.

I appreciate to those that want 100% chance at max skulls that's not an answer.

As other people have said it's not about wanting to "max things out to absolute capacity", it's about the difficult of keeping track of what you've done and what is now available to do.

The only thing I want from the event is event tickets. I couldn't care less about getting everything and I'm certainly not going to be grinding it. Last night I killed 1 boss 3 times (because for some reason it took 3 attempts to get the ticket) and then logged off.

The problem for me is that because it didn't occur to me to write down when exactly I killed that boss I only have a very rough idea of when I can do it today and so my options are to risk wasting a lot of time trying to get a ticket which cannot drop yet or leave it until very late when I'd rather be doing other things. And then tomorrow when it's Saturday and the most convenient time for me to do it is in the morning I can't because it won't have reset, I'll have to wait until the evening (and potentially miss a day because I'm not sure I'll be home in the evening).

All of which could be avoided if they put it on a fixed reset times like most of the daily stuff.

If there was a large cluster of players on the boss, that's your problem. Only the top 12 damage dealers get credit and a drop. If you have 20 some players working over the same enemy, it's entirely possible you won't get a drop (in this case no Plunder Skull, and no Ticket.)

I started doing mine in order yesterday as soon as event started(10am EDT). Finished one account then did my other two. Logged in this morning then after 6am I did the same thing on each account and ended up getting at least one of each page for my main account. When you start go to obsidian gorge wayshrine in Deshaan, do the delve there, come out do the dolmen there, take two steps northwest and so the public dungeon, come out and trot west And kill boss, run through normal fungal grotto or something, run through normal maelstrom and then jump in a trial when you can. Do that then the next day do the same thing.

That's fine but in my case if I do them at say 2100 to 2230 tonight.. tomorrow I can't do them until 1700 then I have to remember which one I did first. Well tomorrow at 1700 I will be away from the computer. This is fine for those who can do the exact same thing at the exact same time every single, for those that need flexibility its a *** up. Not even flexiblity.. just add them to the list of things that reset at the prescribed time, i.e - like writs, daily quests, etc.

I have a trial tonight, so I can’t do event stuff before and certainly don’t want to push it out even later. I guess I’ll skip a day this weekend to reset the timer to a decent time of day. Not the end of the world, but not the most convenient.

Small tip by my side, get alteast 1 Skull, so you can earn the eventticket for this day....motives are cheap af already so they shouldnt be a problem, neither the achievments.

All the timers should just be on a daily reset. The servers would benefit greatly from a single procedure running daily rather than tracking all the random various timers.

This just makes the game much more complicated than necessary and removes some of the fun factor.

I don’t disagree but do we have any other choice other than to make best with what we have? Hopefully they fix it Monday to reset with others and maybe add 3 days onto the event to make up for the confusion.

I believe EVERYTHING should reset with the 2 AM EST/EDT timer. We can do a /dailyreset to check the time until the next reset. It is just simpler, especially for players with varied schedules. It really sucks to do something not realizing your personal timer isn't up yet and then not get the reward. The daily random dungeons also use this timer (unless they've changed that) and it was very frustrating during the event last year that gave rewards per character for clearing a random dungeon!

@ZOS_GinaBruno @ZOS_JessicaFolsom Is there a /command to check the timer for the event ticket and each of the dremora plunder skulls?

    Dear zos,
Today I discovered to my great unpleassure that you put each and every event dremora plunder skull drop on a timer.
Meaning I have to keep a schedule of what time I did what so I can make the most out of it.
And then offcourse the event ticket is linked to that.

Please for future reference put it on a daily timer like the pledges etc.
That way you can do your game time when you want to and don't have to start counting when something drops.

If you refuse that then it would be nice if there was a way to find out the cool down, as you can see on the daily dungeon.
A command to summon the stats? It's a simple database query that should be possible to put in.

I wasted time today doing Maelstrom Arena expecting a golden skull I didn't get because of this. Well, maybe not a complete waste. The round bosses do drop purple skulls. But still, it would have been nice to have known this so I could have waited to finish it. So I agree with you.

I would have preferred they just reset the timers at a specific time like they do with everything else.

The Witches Festival is also your first opportunity to acquire Event Tickets! As detailed in our announcement article, you can acquire one Event Ticket per day when you acquire your first Dremora Plunder Skull.

Just pulling this over from the other thread... current PTS patch 4.2.4 includes this note:
    • Quests that grant Event Tickets during holiday events will now refresh their ability to grant Event Tickets at the same time that Daily Quests become available again.
That seems to indicate that they already know there is an issue here (possibly from PTS feedback?). However, for the purposes of this event the wording appears to refer specifically to the event ticket that you get with your first Dremora skull refreshing with dailies (2am Eastern) instead of all the Dremora skulls generally, though that remains to be seen. Not totally sure how if it really applies since there are technically no "quests" granting the tickets?

Considering the patch will go live on PC on Monday, and the event lasts another 2 weeks, it looks like this will be addressed during the event. So, yeah, for PC players THIS IS POSSIBLY CHANGING ON MONDAY although it's unclear if the change is just for the event tickets or for Dremora skulls across the board, or if it applies at all since these are not awarded from quests.

Console plebs like myself won't get the patch until after the event ends, so we are stuck (and we don't even have add-ons to help in the meantime ).

People keep posting that patch note, but seem to miss the most important part of the patch note--i.e., that it specifically says quests. Remember, event tickets are acquired differently for each event. For Witches, it's based on Dremora Skulls, which have a 20-hour cooldown. For the Undaunted Celebration, the Group Finder's premium rewards have a 20-hour cooldown.

But for the CwC and New Life events, the tickets are rewarded for doing daily quests. I'm 90% sure that the patch note is only applicable for the CwC and New Life events (which were being tested on the PTS at the time; the Witches Festival was tested on during the previous Wolfhunter PTS), and that nothing will change after Monday's patch.

Finally, ZOS has officially confirmed and documented the 20-hour cooldown:

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/43625
Event Tickets will drop alongside the first Dremora Plunder Skull of the day, and it must be looted in order to gain credit. Once received, it will be found on the Currency tab, not in your item inventory.

Once the first eligible boss is killed, you will immediately be put on a 20-hour cooldown before you can receive your next Event Ticket, regardless of whether the ticket is picked up or not.

Event tickets drop alongside Dremora Plunder Skulls as a separate lootable object, not inside of the skull container itself. For this reason, we recommend being careful to check the loot on all eligible bosses. Turning on the auto-loot option in Settings can also help avoid missing out on any tickets.

If the eligible boss is not looted at all, the ticket or Dremora Plunder Skull will be lost. This has caused some confusion in regards to some event-type encounters, such as Dark Anchors, where the primary loot normally comes from chests. For Dark Anchors and Abyssal Geysers, Plunder Skulls and Event Tickets drop from the bosses themselves, not the associated chests.

    Dear ZOS,

I'm one of the unfortunate few who are plagued with connectivity issues - on YOUR end, not mine, as I can have 4k Netflix open and streaming for 3 days straight. And whenever I ask about these connectivity options, the answer is always "disable addons".

Yet addons are REQUIRED for tracking all of these ludicrous timers. One for tracking hireling mails. One for tracking research. One for tracking riding skills. One for tracking plunder skulls.

Even with trackers I have to skip many of my 12h hireling timers just to be able to get things once per day ... because of time creep.

It's absurd. Please make all timers 20h timers, or reset at the same time each day.
