Broken content that is. No need to go blind here, stuff goes live broken and stays like that forever.

Hopefully it’s not a PvP game. Can’t see anyone in their right mind rushing out to buy it based on how they’ve treated PvP in this game.

Dude... Game breaking? Unfixed for years? Console player, maybe? Because I'm sure it isn't PC. I play PC and I can't see anything game breaking that lasts over a few days. But whatever... You seem like the average angst teen, even if you're older. Not wasting any more time with you.

Zenimax is a conglomerate of many game studios, companies that are all published by bethesda softworks which then become zenimax media. Zenimax is a very different animal than most game studios or game publishers. For all intents and purposes Zenimax is simply Bethesda and vice versa. People love to say 'its not the same people who...' You people have no idea what you are talking about.

Well i play on the PC too. Tho i have no idea why playing on PC means you can ignore sprint bug -still live- dozens of bugs like dead spheres casting draining ballista, recharged bombers glitching to reclaimer, 5 people spamming purges yet still failing to cleanse some specific person in group -all still live as well- game freezing like every 10 seconds in Cyrodiil... On and on and on. All of these are reported issues and most of them are older than a year if not all.

Of Course ZOS is working on a new game.

They have been working on ESO since 2007 (11 years now) I am sure they are getting sick and tired of it by now.

How would all of you like to be stuck at the same job working and doing the same exact thing for 11 years? Burnout is one of the top reasons people quit jobs and move on to other companies. If you want to keep good people, you can't let them get burnt out. This is why Bethesda pushed back TES6 because they were getting burnt out on it per Pete Hines interview back in 2014. Hence we get Starfield something completely different.

I wouldn't be surprised if they shut ESO off completely in the next 24-36 months simply put because anyone, I don't care who you are, anyone, is going to get burned out working on the same exact project, the same exact things for 11 years. If they go 2 more years, thats 13 years on the same project...Either Firor and Co are allowed to work on something else, or they will all walk at some point and move on to other jobs where they can do something else.

Its obvious that Bethesda/Zenimax Media values ZOS, for that reason, much like Bethesda allowed Howard and Co to take a break from TES, ZOS will be allowed to take a break from TES and work on other ideas.

nothing lasts forever, and expecting them to work on ESO forever like some WOW is unreasonable, Zenimax/Bethsda is NOT Blizzard and they don't operate that way. Bethesda/Zenimax doesn't treat their employees like dirt and indentured servants like other companies do.

ZOS will be allowed to explore other avenues in the future, and those plans won't include ESO.

This is a GOOD THING. I am excited to see what ZOS will do in the future, they were a young company starting out, i bet there are many things they would have done different with ESO if they knew back then what they knew now. This is how studios grow, Howard wasn't perfect and great out the gate, it was something that was worked on overtime. If ZOS learns from their mistakes moving forward they have a chance to be one of the great game studios, they have a lot of talent their, and a lot to be proud of to pour their soul into a new project and idea, all of us will get lots of enjoyment from this. Never be afraid of a bright future!

I would personally prefer an ESO 2, but I'm fine with a new IP, as long as it's not Fallout/Wolfenstein/Doom online as I don't find any of those universes interesting. ZOS is the best MMO dev out there by a fair margin, so I'm intrigued by this new project.

I doubt that they will do an ESO 2. At least, not before they do some other game to prove that they are not just the Elder Scrolls Online Division of Zenimax Media.

However, I do hope that they build on the same engine that ESO uses, fix some of the problems they had due to it being a V1 engine, and spend the money to bring the improvements backwards to ESO. That would be major undertaking, though. Think along the lines of replacing the foundation of a skyscraper. That means it is not likely to happen.

Interesting. As I recall, the timing would be right. Their new Creative Director was already soliciting for people to join him at that time. That is how I noticed him a few months back. I have been following him on Twitter since then, but I don't like to mix gaming and politics. His has a terrible SNR in that respect, so I won't give the name. It might be against forum rules.

    Interesting.

Not sure how I feel about ZOS potentially working on two products considering the time pressure they already face just for ESO. Although considering the masses of jobs they're advertising it would seem it'll be two very different teams.

I wonder what it is though, as it says new IP.

A new IP altogether or a new IP for them …?

Would be very risky taking on a totally unknown IP and this one cannot see them doing that no.

Therefore it must be an already well known IP that isn't yet an MMO.

Do we already have a Harry Potter online?

Good point, I guess it could be a new IP for ZOS but an IP already owned by Bethesda. I wonder which ones would be strong enough to hold up as an MMO though?

My theory is that it won't be a medieval fantasy setting. It will be Science Fiction/Space or a contemporary. Too soon to tell, but I have been watching for a few months now to see if I could pick up clues.

No way will it be a traditional MMO. It's a dying genre in the West.

All the Western "MMOs" in development are all either unconventional, lobby based or PVP free-for-alls. Even Amazon's upcoming MMO will be of the "drop all gear on death" variety.

    Responsibilities:

Some predictions for MMOs that this one has no knowledge of them existing - as based on popular IPs:

If any of these are in development Khajiit would like a lifetime sub in return for her future seeing powers please yes.

    Totoro the Barbarian

    Runescape: The Next Generation

    Game of Daedric Thrones

    League of Moomins

    World of Westworlds

It could be any of these no?

Everquest, Runescape, Old School Runescape, FFXI, etc. are still going even with minimal updates (though some of those games still get expansions). Some even still have subs and content devs who love interacting with players.

ZOS is hiring new people, not telling current staff they have to do double-duty, and not everyone at ZOS has been working on the project since 2007. ESO will stay open as long as it makes a minimal profit and helps draw players in to other Bethesda/ZOS content, no matter which staff stays or moves on to other projects over time.

There's no reason to expect a successful game to shut down at a studio that is doing well enough to start yet another project.

I am seeing possible migration from ESO to Game 2, with backfills on the ESO side in the form of promotions. It is hard to tell from this side of the fence, though. I am concerned a little about migration, since ESO has some talented developers that I like and I would really like to see them continue working on ESO.

I know it is ES VI. It now needs co-op gameplay ala Fallout 76, ergo MMO engine, although it is not a true MMO. Group PvE, and perhaps dueling & Battlegrounds. Maybe traditional capture-the-flag style (not exactly) PvP. Perhaps player guilds and guild traders for mats & collectables/furnishings (at the very least a simple game-wide auction house ala WoW). You can be assured there will be player houses and/or perhaps even group clubhouses is my guess, maybe even buildable like Fallout 4, with random bot assaults to test the defenses. Like I said, the best way to implement this is with an MMO engine.

They said they were holding off on developing ES VI until Fallout 76 was released, which is now scheduled for less than a month away. C'mon guys, use a little common sense here. Perhaps Bethesda is developing the single-player elements, and ZOS does the overarching MMO envelope.
