Why are there more players on the PC Servers than Console servers?

PC sucks trust me. It's not legit gameplay, you can never how other player is playing, because there's so many ways to cheat using macros/cheatengine. while at consoles is more fair game because you cant run any third party programs. PC in large battles fps goes down to 20, while at consoles I bet you get more stead fps? Addons - yeah they're kinda great , but not in my point of view, it takes less skill to play, you just run bunch of addons and reacting to whatever it says.
If I havent started playing eso on PC from beta I would probably have moved to consoles, less cheaters, steady fps and better graphics. The only thing we share in common is unplayabble gameplay that zos gives 0 crap about it (probably broken engine that they cant do nothing about it).

Better graphics on console?, better fps on console? oh dear, your rig must be a potatoe ye? :p

It's just my point of view , Im not saying im right with it. If i run eso 4k on my tv it will run like a potatoe, but i tested at work on xbox 4k and it looks really good, smooth perfomance. for good pc u need to invest alot, but for consoles u just need to have good TV.

For the record: I bought a laptop with a nVidea graphics card so I could play games on it. Sadly it doesn't have the spec required to run ESO... even though it's Win 8.1 and I believe ESO can run on Win 7.
But, having seen all the threads about cheat engine etc I think console is better. Even without the addons. Even if I have to pay $80 annually just to play on PSN. If I did get a PC capable of running ESO now I think I would only want it for the PTS.

Buying a PC costs up to 1500$. Consoles cost max 500$.

So it's technically cheaper to play ESO on Consoles. But when you login to Console servers, it's always empty or not full.

I think more PC players should try playing ESO on Consoles.

I was a PC Beta Tester and I enjoy playing on Console, it's a bit different and not as Good as PC. But it is Good enough.

Why even try use wooden sticks for eating when I have a fork?:)

I think playing game like ESo is much more convenient on PC but thats probably a matter of prefference.

And don't forget about overall quality - I play on older computer set but in 2K quality and game looks great as MMO - console is not even close that quality.

My TV screen is 32" (watching from 3 meters) while my PC screen is 27" (wathing from 1 meter) - I really see no difference.
I usually buy top specs. PC every 6-7 years so they are more than enough. Never bought any console, because PC is much more convenient in use and gives me privacy I need (TV screen is usually occupied by others from family). PC is an obvious choice. I don't see a single reason why should I change to console.

You can create and run MMORPGs perfectly fine on Consoles, FF14 is a prime example of that. It's just the ZOS doesn't have the knowhow or willingness to so support that code base more then is absolutely necessary.

Funny, at 31, I’m one of the youngest people in my primary PVP guild. The GM, who is absolutely lovely and a hell of a healer, is a grandma. There are also several retirees in the guild and plenty of folks pushing retirement age. I also had an amusing zone chat in Summerset just the other day in which MANY of us lamented the fact that the college students of today are too young to remember the frustration of renting videos that weren’t rewound, of blowing dust out of console cartridges, of where they were when 9/11 happened... Don’t forget: the original PlayStation came out in 1995, and lots of us owned that system at launch.

Anyway, OP, PS4 NA is plenty populated... Please don’t ask more people to play on console, as the weekend queues to get into fully pop-locked Vivec are bad enough as it is. :)

Too much of an old timer here.

The PS4 console is just pure convenience. Power up, start game, grab controller and go, everything including voice is integrated. The only issue I ever have is waiting for an update to finish downloading.

So many memories of fiddling with configs on PC made even worse because I'm a Linux user and had to play so many games over Wine.

Having said that PC playing matured ages ago and there are not really many issues apart from shonky release day code and with Proton I've suddenly found myself with an extended back catalog which just..... works.

I'd actually not consider trying ESO under Proton just because of the add-on and potential cheatcode stuff.

There's another benefit for PC: long-term support.

See, at some point, Sony and Microsoft will release a newer console (let's call them "XBOX2" and "PS5").
They may not be backwards-compatible with games from previous consoles (wouldn't be the first time they do that).

And after they are released, at some point the online services for the current consoles will be terminated.
Will ESO keep on running on unsupported consoles?
Maybe you can transfer your account to a new version for the newer hardware... but you'll also need the newer hardware. And maybe even to buy the base game again.

Meanwhile, on PC, you are not relying on anyone but ZOS in order to be able to play the game.

Oh god... DOS based games were the worst (never had experience with Linux). Choose your graphics and sound cards from the available lists. Oh, yours isn't shown? Go through them one at a time until you find one that works with your PC.

Well, I do have to disagree with you. I'm 57, and a former IT professional. My aforementioned best friend is 59, and I talked him into getting a computer, oh a decade ago or so. While I will agree a kid could never afford a rig like mine ($5k+) unless his folks make a ton (or he has a million followers on YouTube) like the OP said, you can get a good gaming rig for grand or so. Since lots of folks could likely afford this, and the kids would almost certainly co-opt the box for games, to say only adults would play on a computer is perhaps a tad short sighted, methinks.

I'm surprised anyone would have acknowledged that comment. Using his logic, why would any 'adult' be wasting time playing video games full stop. If him doing exactly what the rest of us are doing, but only using a different piece of electrical equipment to do so, makes him more adult than the rest of us, then he needs to get out more.

Maybe that's how he deludes himself into thinking he's mature and all adult like. It's actually embarrassing tbh.

One has to wonder who the real children are... console players in their 30's simply living their lives and playing their preferred experience (be that not worrying about OS updates mucking something up, having to manage or trouble-shoot conflicting mods that may or may not work after a game update, or preferring a controller vs mouse/keyboard, etc) or the PC elitists calling console players "children"...

because most people own a pc all over the world, even console players own a pc but a pc player will most likely just stick to their pc and never own a console.
