After 4 years Zos has not server stability.

I have never played a game that was without bugs. Some bugs not fixed after years of existence.

However, I have never played a game that after 4 years has such poor server stability.

A group of us in Cyrodiil have been kicked out to log in and it is taking us multiple attempts to get back in. Some attempts we do not even get back to character select.

The event is no excuse since campaigns operate at pop locked every week.

And we are getting kicked again once we got back to the keep under attack. It so much worse than it was during the first year of Cyrodiil. It was even better last year.

Someone needs to be hired to figure out what has challenged the team so far.

    10,000,000th thread about this

They are fully aware of the issues, we are fully aware of the issues, everyone is fully aware of the issues

    Does it suck? Yes
Has it been a long time, too long? Probably

Im sure they are still working on it.
I am sure they would LOVE to have the servers run smooth as butter every day all day, 365 days a year.
Im sure they would have fixed it totally by now if they could.
In my experience its better than it used to be but I know that others dont match that experience.

I have a feeling that the game is bigger and more complex then they anticipated with regard to what the current server technology can handle. If thats the case, they should just admit it instead of letting everyone continute to wonder about it.

Unfortunately they dont talk enough about it and what they are doing to improve it.
They probably should but corporate probably wont let them.

They aren’t doing anything, nothing to wonder about. A professional company shouldn’t need 4 years to figure this out, all while not saying anything about it and continuing to release events they know the servers can’t handle.

You can’t be mad about there being a lot of threads on the issues, being able to play the game is pretty important to the gaming experience.

I dont have the feeling that they are working on it tbh. Nothing gets better. With summerset they said they changed how the server handles the passives and what a great impact it would have on Performance. Nothing improved. NOTHING.

Not a single word from ZOS or @ZOS_BrianWheeler .

For console it got even worse. They only care about crown store and how to make money fast.

This is so frustrating. So many friends leaving thid game due to this Bad server Performance. Soon pvp Servers are empty.....

They have a full team working on stability, as they stated during their last ESO live. The issue isnt the team, its problems that can not be recreated for troubleshooting. Ive never been kicked out of Cyro, personally.

I dont know what's worse, a company that knows there are issues and cant fix it or one that knows about the issues and does nothing. I cant quite work out which it is for zos but either way we are suckers. In the past I thought that they were making far too much money from crown crates to invest the infrastructure needed to fix server issues. In any case we got what we got and I doubt it will improve.

People really shouldnt complain about the number of threads about this issue. They will never stop. I mean new players come to pvp and deal with it every day so they will inevitably come here to voice their complaints. Older players who are sick of it. And people who are just simply angry about it.

While they most likely will never fix it, it is good to criticize them so they know we arent happy. If it takes 100000000 threads for it to sink in then good. The more the better. One day when page one of the general section is completely performance threads then maybe they will realize they need to do something now...

The number of threads pointing out the server instability is really hitting a high. I honestly don't think server stability will ever be fixed/repaired. I don't think ZOS is able/capable of making the fixes. In my opinion, the infrastructure of the game was made in a way that is substandard and the most ZOS will be able to do is apply band-aids.

That is, unless, ZOS has a secret team of developers working on overhauling the base code that makes ESO run. In that case, it might be fixed in say two or three years.

having played 30 mmo, i can't recall any that have 100% stable servers, even ff14 has problems, same for WoW which gets ddos'ed every expac launch. ff14 has instanced queue every story update since launch of stormnblood.

fixing it is not easy, as it involved pretty much buying completely new server clusters, which cost money that the devs may not have. All mmo have server issues.

It's not what you say that gets you banned, it's how you say it. In any event, all the same posters are still here so while a few may get the odd day or two suspensions now and again there doesn't appear to be much evidence of proper bans as such.

Sadly... after the years and all these times, you will have to accept that they are unable to fix or improve their servers; or care to improve on it. Plus, it is my belief they don't really care about this too much. I think as long they can sustain the game going and keep dishing out and adding into more DLC and new contents and additions, this game will always have plethora of new players/customers; thus, the company will continue to profit with or without am improved servers, stability or whatnot. It is the nature of the beast of the gaming industry.

It's one of those things. If you don't like it, then the players/customers can opt to not play, but they realized this game will keep getting in new players/customers base who will continue to dish out money on the in-game products (i.e. crowns/crown store items, new DLC and chapters.) They have nothing to lose with an unstable game and servers where more people are constantly entering this game. Plus, it will surely cause the company/developers more work then they probably would think necessary to improve their servers and stability and likely eat up on their profits.

Well, hate to be the negative pessimist, but I am as frustrated and disgusted about the stability of the server and in-game as anybody else. Damn same crapshoot over and over again with every new addition of DLC and chapters.

What really annoys me about this game is that they ARE aware of it, but wont give an statement to the topic or information about work in progress or whatever. And on top of that it extremely annoys me that when you go over the bug-fix section on patch notes and all they fix is quest ***, which no one cares about.

If they really wanted to fix server stability, they should stop producing crappy crown store stuff and focus on your REAL issue which is..if people can't play your game you have not profits and no job. I'm appalled that this still takes place. It's really sad. I guess I'm going to be playing overwatch today :/

    This ^

And there in lies the problem. If the company admits that things will never improve, well, that will be some mighty bad press. So they save face by remaining silent. Not much face mind you, but they save more than admitting to the extent of it.

they are not gonna list everything, more so back-end stuff that may open them to hacks/ddos.

also quests are game play and should be fixed.

Lastly all mmo have server stability issues, WoW, ESO, ff11, ff14, eq, eq2, tera, ddo, NW, you name the MMO it has issues.

Sometimes the issue is player base size, where too many players play and the servers can't handle it. ff14 and WoW suffer this issue as far as I know, as WoW gets ddos when a expac drops, and ff14 patches more so story have queue stability problems.

Server problems are not problems you can just throw money at, and they are fixed.

Zenimax ignored the pvp lag right off the bat (among other things). The pvp audiance never developed because many left due to poor performance. This cycle repeated itself almost every patch for the first couple years of this game, and every new patch the cyro pop was atleast halved.

And now because the audiance was stunted so bad from poor early decision making it will never be a priotity to fix the issues of a minority.

Hope this helps explain why this will never be a focus of zenimax. And why they will always push new content that they dont test properly in pvp. If you like pvp get used to the lag or save yourself the pain and move to a better game.

Size of the playerbase is definitly not the issue whats making the ESO servers lag... (cyrodiil is a ghost town besides the emp keeps and Alessia Bridge) several other MMOs can handle tenfold (or more) the amount of players on a spot without servers completely blacking out, so thats no excuse.

The Place by Tony Walsh Please Read
This is the place in the North West of England

It’s ace, it’s the best and the songs that we sing

From the stands, from our bands set the whole planet shaking

Our inventions are legends! There’s nowt we can’t make and

So we make brilliant music. We make brilliant bands

We make goals that make souls leap from seats in the stands

And we make things from steel and we make things from cotton

And we make people laugh, take the mick summat rotten

And we make you at home and we make you feel welcome

And we make summat happen, we can’t seem to help it

And if you’re looking for history then yes, we’ve a wealth

But the Manchester way is to make it yourself

And make us a record, a new number one

And make us a brew while you’re up, love. Go on!

And make us feel proud that you’re winning the league

And make us sing louder and make us believe it

that this is the place that has helped shape the world

And that this the place where a Manchester girl

Name of Emmeline Pankhurst from the streets of Moss Side

Led a Suffragette City with sisterhood pride

And this is the place with appliance of science

We’re on it, atomic, we strut with defiance

In the face of a challenge we always stand tall

Mancunians in union delivered it all

Such as housing and libraries, and health, education

And unions and co-ops, the first railway station

So we’re sorry! Bear with us! We invented commuters!

But we hope you forgive us – we invented computers!

And this is the place Henry Royce strolled with Rolls

And we’ve rocked and we’ve rolled with our own Northern Soul

And so this is the place to do business, then dance

Where go-getters and goal setters know they’ve a chance

And this is the place where we first played as kids

And me Mam lived and died here, she loved it she did

And this is the place where our folks came to work

Where they struggled in puddles, they hurt in the dirt

And they built us a city. They built us these towns

And they coughed on the cobbles to the deafening sound

Of the steaming machines and the screaming of slaves

They were scheming for greatness, they dreamed to their graves

And they left us a spirit, they left us a vibe

The Mancunian Way to survive and to thrive

And to work and to build, to connect and create and

Greater Manchester’s greatness is keeping it great

And so this is the place now we’ve kids of our own

Some are born here, some drawn here but we all call it home

And they’ve covered the cobbles, but they’ll never defeat

All the dreamers and schemers who still teem through these streets

Because this is a place that has been through some hard times

Oppressions, recessions, depressions and dark times

But we keep fighting back with Greater Manchester spirit

Northern grit, northern wit in Greater Manchester’s lyrics

And there’s hard times again in these streets of our city

But we won’t take defeat and we don’t want your pity

Because this a place where we stand strong together

With a smile on our face, Mancunians Forever

And we’ve got this* as the place where a team with a dream (*Forever Manchester)

Can get funding and something to help with their scheme

Because this is the place that understands your grand plans

We don’t do No Can Do, we just stress Yes We Can!

Forever Manchester’s a charity for people round ‘ere

You can fundraise, donate. You can be a volunteer

You can live local, give local. We can honestly say

We do charity differently, that Mancunian Way

And we fund local kids, and we fund local teams

We support local dreamers to work for their dreams

We support local groups and the great work they do

So can you …help us help… local people like you?

Because this is the place in our hearts, in our homes

Because this is the place that’s a part of our bones

‘Cos Greater Manchester gives us such strength from the fact

That this is the place. We should give something back.

Always remember. Never forget. Forever Manchester.

Don’t worry as they have been going down the same path for years. Ignoring the performance issues and paying attention to crown store cash cows. It will all work out in the end when the player base gets to the population that the servers can handle without issues. We are almost there in PvP as we have 1 main server And a few one sided pops. Soon enough when all servers are 2 bar and pve zones are only 1-3 incences it will all “work as intended”.
