    1. Theme song starts in my head at random times
    2. It takes me at least a week to get any project done around the house because I now "theorycraft" everything ;)

Yeah, my SO sent me a link to an article about gaming disorder, which I promptly shared with a guild on Band, adding my own caption: "I wonder if they prescribe cannabis for this."

There is an article in the Wall Street Journal today, titled "Videogame Developers Are Making It Harder to Stop Playing". That is how I found out I have a gaming disorder. :) I think they lied about gamers only spending an average of 7 hours a week playing games. :)

With all the possible negative vices out there that can degrade a persons life, Id wager a prescriprion for ESO would do more good than harm...

ESO has gotten me to travel to places I likely would have not otherwise. :)

It influenced me to start a youtube channel, which now takes up a good portion of "RL" time

Ah yes, the exotic and refined destination of Baltimore, Maryland. Many historians and world-renowned travelers have written of its beauty.

Popular tourist activities include visiting Fort McHenry, watching a Ravens game, and getting stabbed.

I have to put the game down on the drop of a dime. All the time. Some might call it adulting.

Really sucks when you’re trying to do something and 11 other very real people are waiting for you on the other end.

Good luck explaining this to your significant others. They just won’t understand.

Mine does. I simply explained to him that Wednesday evenings after work are for Guild Officer meetings, and Friday night is scheduled PvP night. Everything else is negotiable, but Wednesdays and Fridays are "me" time. I also bought him a brand new PS4 and TV for the other room so he leaves me alone. It generally works.

I've been a gamer back since the very early 90s living alone with my NES... years ago my husband complained that since I was playing Oblivion on my PC and he was at the opposite end of the house watching sport we never spent much time together. These days I game on a PS4 / large TV next to the kitchen table while he watches TV series and movies on a TV next to mine. (When he wants to watch sport he does do on his large TV, which I bought him.)
I never neglect chores... but I do spend a lot of time in ESO these days... :/

I wouldn't say it's affected my real life per se. But it has been a nice distraction, and a nice way to calm down/relax while going through my mental health treatment.

I was thinking it hasn't really, but I suppose it has in some small ways. For example my husband is a TES fan and currently doing a history degree and we've had some interesting conversations about the 'unreliable narrator' issue and how it affects both Tamrillic and real history.

This is one reason I wouldn't actually want a bigger house. At the moment the PC and TV/consoles are all in the same room so we're all together, and the kitchen is just off the living/dining room so even if someone's in there they're still not left out of everything. (One reason I hated our old house was the kitchen was down the hall, separate from everything else so whoever was cooking was shut away.)

And if anyone does want privacy there's always the bedroom.

Interestingly, my doctor has done pretty much exactly that: well, not literally prescribed, but I am under semi-serious doctor's orders to play more video games instead of immersing myself in more stressful activities.

I meet my now wife in the game and through our marriage I moved across the Atlantic from Sweden to the US. I got married in Baltimore while I was at ZOS HQ and had one of my friends who was then, but not longer, a dev of the game as our witness for the marriage. ESO has also brought me friendships that have come and gone that have had a long lasting effect on me as a person.

It also helped me cope when one of my cats died, I made a khajiti in his name and honor. Its funny cause while I DPSed on him for a while he eventually turned into my material farming toon, and my cat is one that would never sit still when he was being petted, he would walk around in circles around you, so I find it fitting.

I also found my love for theorycrafting here and I could let it grow and have fun doing tests and stuff, things I would not really be able to do in other games. Its something to help calm me down and let me focus on so my mind doesn't wander into bad territories.

All in all I owe a lot to ESO and I love it a lot.

Not at all, save for some reason I now find virtual fishing to be relaxing.

That said, If I die in my sleep tonight, I'd be pretty happy to wake up on a beach in Summerset.

ESO RNG is a bit like life... no matter how hard you try, and how much you want something, sometimes its just not gonna happen. Also, not as deep but just as important: some people are very VERY rude xD

I keep dreaming that I'm a magicka sorc or templar, and there's new skills they've added, and I get killed over and over in PvP because I don't know what the skills do :|

Edit: Or that I'm FARMING, haha.
Also, there's a street called Godtemplar-street in my town, sounds epic.

I'm retired, but gaming takes up less of my time than before. I guess it's because of the general lack of stress in my life. Spend more time with the wife and grandkids. I love ESO although I also play GW2, but content is a lot slower there.

I occasionally say prices in gold when shopping. I've drawn a few looks and funny comments from my boyfriend.

Most of my work passwords have some variation of my character names and ESO names. Makes them much easier to remember (and also more obscure).

Haven't made it to the point where I dream about playing ESO, but that's probably more because I don't remember my dreams. Also, it's hard to dream when you inadvertently sacrifice sleep for more ESO time.

ESO and life, I think there is supposed to be a line somewhere but I haven't found it yet...

I go to sleep thinking about Cyrodil battles that I lost, then wake up in the middle of the night with a new battle plan hatching. I feel like I need to start keeping a journal, if for no other reason than to show my future therapist once this game takes the rest of my sanity.

On a lighter note, I found myself in a guild with some of the most successful, driven, brilliant humans I've ever met, and I watch them balance gaming, family, career, and personal well-being like pros, and everyone is supportive of everyone else's success, both in-game and out. They inspire me and motivate me on a daily basis, and I've been promoted twice since I joined them and now have an amazing career with a real future.

I always assumed gamers were weird misfits with poor social skills, but after meeting these guys and interacting with so many of you, I realize it's a rich, diverse community with a wide variety of intelligent and talented humans from all walks of life, and it's nothing like I imagined. That one arbitrary purchase 3 years ago at a game stop opened up a whole new world to me, and the Anthropologist in me is constantly being surprised and fascinated by it and by all of you.

One night in the distance, I saw a low-lying spot light and my mind instantly registered, 'OMG Psijic Portal!'.

If there's low stormy clouds, I can picture (and hear) an anchor dropping down...

On our daily 2 mile walk with the dogs, my husband & I pass by a house that has decorated their front garden with an antique chest. Sure do want to pick the lock on that one! :)
