Maelstrom weapon style pages should drop in vMA

I'll keep it simple: I really like the style of the vMA weapons, but I hardly use any of them anymore, since nowadays there are almost always more effective options in PVP and PVE (not counting the bow and staves of course). There was something iconic about that greatsword, and the battleaxe style holds a special place in my heart, but there is now no way to use those styles outside of very specific, niche builds. What's more, vMA weapon rewards are significantly less valuable than they used to be, after the changes to 2H weapons and a few significant shifts in the PVP and PVE metas.

Now that outfit style pages are being added to dungeons for monster sets, it's high time that Maelstrom weapon styles were added as drops from vMA. I don't care whether they only drop from Mr. Voriak or whether there's a chance for them to drop from earlier bosses, but (a) vMA needs a new, interesting reward and (b) I really miss those weapon styles.

(An aside to new players: you may be overwhelmed by the idea of yet another reward locked behind difficult content, but trust me when I say that if you stick at it, one day soon you'll have vMA on farm. It's really not that bad once you figure it out.)

I personally hope they don't. Vma is challenging content and the weapons are the reward and a sign of prestige. It would be like if they started offering achievement skin look-alikes in the crown store.

    Oh wait...

That's exactly my point -- the weapons are a sign of prestige, but except when I'm on my PVE DPS, I can never display that sign (since the non-bow/staff weapons aren't that great). Let me get a style that has a chance to drop from Voriak Solkyn, and I'll get to display that sign again. After all, only people able to beat vMA multiple times would be able to wear the style -- just like before.

Another way to put it is that adding outfit styles to vMA is the way to restore the old status quo, where one reward for beating vMA was that people would see you wearing a vMA weapon.

Of course I agree the styles should never be in the crown store. That would be terrible and demean the achievement of everyone who has worked their ass off to beat the arena.

Only if Master weapons were added to DSA. All 3 Destruction Staves are easily the best looking staves in the game and it sucks that they're so bad

Yeah, that would be great too! And for the other Master's weapons. I really like the shield style from vDSA.

Though note that the Master's Frost Staff is identical to the Draugr style. I don't think the others are available though.

And yet, I disguise mine with costume staves because I think the staves look like B movie sci-fi buttplugs.

I support the idea! :) I love the look of MA bow, 2h sword and 2h axe.
The pages should drop from veteran arenas, should be just outfit styles (not motifs), and should not be tradable. Well, pages from DSA can be tradable for 2 hours between your group members... Also the drop rate should be high enough, and no possibility to get duplicates.

I believe those weapons are "Tier 4" racial weapons, fire staff being Dunmer and the lightning staff being Altmer.

You can steal weapons that look like them from vendors, so they're in the game aside from Master weapons...we just can't craft or loot them as anything worthwhile

    NO. Just 'NO'
I don't want a bunch of friggen motif pages added to the loot table ... NPC merchants won't buy motif pages and it's not like you can decon them. I don't want the loot table diluted any more than it already is.
There wouldn't be 'two' loot tables (one for the regular loot and a separate one for motifs). No, it doesn't work like that. Motif pages would be added to the existing loot table which would, in effect, dilute the 'existing' loot table.

If you like the look of the weapons, then equip the weapons and don't select a 'costume weapon' to hide them.

Ya let me just just gimp my build and equip the vma shield or dw weapons which sets are now *** sets instead of good sets

The addition of a new drop doesn't have to dilute the loot table. It's not as though I'm proposing vMA be changed to give you either a weapon or a style page.

It's not really a choice for me to equip the weapons, at least most of the time (I spend most of my time in PVP and I don't run a gap closer). I know I'm not the only one who finds most of the weapons suboptimal at best. I'm just asking for ZOS to do with the vMA weapon styles exactly what they're doing with the Monster helm/shoulder styles.

    I think it's a great idea.

Simply, once you earn the weapon you get the corresponding style. Would make getting a weapon you don't want not too bad if you get to use the style in the outfit system.

I think they should be added as a random drop from the last boss, it would add some more longevity to vMA. I would also like the same to happen with the weapons from vDSA.

I'd be fine with it if it was a page drop after completing Round 9 (and it's bind on pickup).

You have to complete vMA to get the weapon style.

Sounds like a great idea but be careful what you ask for...

“We’re introducing weapon styles to Veteran Maelstrom Arena! Now when you deconstruct a vMA weapon you have a small chance to gain an Outfit Style fragment for the corresponding weapon type! After successfully gaining 100 outfit style fragments you can buy the Glue-That-Binds-Like-This from Tutor Riparius for 100k gold to bind your fragments into a completed Weapon Style page. Start completing your vMA weapon styles today!”

They’re on a bit of a kick with these damn fragments lately.
