Bravo for the great PvP performance

It's been a while since I last played PvP, mainly due to lag and performance problems, infintie loadscreens... you know the drill.

So yesterday I decided to give it a go to get the event achievements, and I was skeptical...

But I was able to play at a steady 60 fps most of the time, with no noticeable lag, no disconnects, no 10-minute loadscreens... everything worked! in a population-locked campaign and even zerg vs zerg long battles!

I've never had such a smooth experience in PvP in ESO.

So, to whoever is resposible for that: great work!

I just thought it'd be nice for once to make an appreciation thread instead of the (too usual) complaints.

Your experience, t'is a rarity.

Most of us experience bad lag while others are disconnecting outright.

Yeah, that's what I'm used to, and what I was expecting, too. Or even worse, with the event going on and all.

But I got very surprised at how well it all worked. And at prime time.

Been great for me too, after the 30 minute queue everything has been great. I've had 1, yes 1 long load screen (about 1 minute) when loading into a keep, with a little lag after spawning in, the keep was being zerged by 2 EP groups, 1 DC group and defended by 2 AD groups (about 80+ players in total, more did come along).

I’ve played every night, mostly on Shor, (both NA and EU) and I’ve had no lag, no wait longer than five minutes, and no problems. Good job, ZOS!

I played on Shor yesterday in the evening, and had usual awful lag, even on distant lonely resources

No disconnects though, but they don't happen all the time anyway. I also saw many nearby people lagging; and in very rare 1 v 1 fight at a distant keep, my enemy was also lagging same as I did - we were both melee and it was hard to land attacks for both of us.

For me it's hard to believe that someone can have smooth and lag-free experience in pvp, so I really envy you

No disconnects here either. Just some bad delays on my abilities.

I'm on EU PS4 and the experience has been mixed for me, I've had a crash or 2 with some large battles, mainly due to Red and Yellow Zergs, but some keep battles have been very smooth, Imperial City ran like a dream

I’ve been playing mostly on 2 or 3 bar servers and it really has been good this event. I’m very happy with ZOS - I was expecting things to be on fire by this point lol

Ps4 NA. I'm getting blue screened constantly. I've missed so many d tics. My ap gain is around the same rate as no event with all the tics I've missed

Yeah good job I only crashed 15-20 times in 4h Ata certain point the whole group was unable to log in so we called it a day #sarcasmalert
Not to mention 2 health desyncs where I suddenly had no resources (mind you I have 36k resistances and 33k HP so I don't get insta killed from full HP period) fml :-(

I feel you, sometimes I cast the skill and suddenly I watch myself being 0 on all resources ... the delay in skills is huge problems but good job for getting rid of loading screens I guess

Don't let this thread title fool you: nothing has changed on ZOS' end, except for the addition of more campaigns. What's really going on is that during this event players are excited to plat in non-pop-locked campaigns, whereas for the rest of the year most players (vets and newbies alike) treat Shor like it's not an option. What y'all are experiencing in Kastav and D'albei is the way it is in Shor (virtually) all the time.

Like the performance you've been getting during this event? Ditch Vivec and come play Shor when its over.

Not really. I've played Shor more than any other... and the problems were there.

Actually for me on Xbox NA things have been significantly LESS laggy than usual.

Oh, sure, I still get the usual "unusually long" load screens...but I haven't been frozen-in-mid-jump-then-dumped-unceremoniously-back-to-home-screened since right before Midyear Mayhem - and that's something considering that campaign populations have swelled due to the event.

I have to agree. I was sceptical about Midyear Mayhem but they made performance a lot better somehow. I don't crash, I don't freeze, no endless loading screens, no falling through the world, my fps is stable and the ping is fairly okay even in high pop situations.

I was completely satisfied. I'm not a pvp guy, but I have some stamina alt character and tried to unlock caltrops and vigors. What I experienced 1-2 years earlier and that I read on forum that is total different that I experienced. Fluent gameplay.

I did it with four characters on the weekend. I like the double AP event, to me as a pve player it was a big help to unlock 2 very useful stamina skill.

A few time 0-1sec minimal random loading screen (too much new player skin maybe).
No lagg usually.

But I think to me it is because I changed my HDD to SSD. With HDD on pve zones for example stormhaven there was loading screens (with horse + rapid maneuver) without horse and haste skills that was ok with HDD too.

But on the weekend my wife and me explored craglorn with alts too. There were 2-3 times very long loading screens into caves. We waited, and there weren't disconnect just only very long waiting.

It seems long loading screen problem not solved in every case, but in most case.

Suggestion
In GW2 there is a very good idea for pvp lag problems. You can switch if you want different graphics setting on PVP and the most interesting part, You only see 1 skin, everyone is the same. Only a random slow memory usage skin + mount. Maybe here would be consider too.

It hasn't been to bad for me.

A few lag spikes and skill delay here and there. I disconnected once since the event started, but that was also after I had been playing for a few hours.

I just chose the least populated campaign I could find. It scratches my Cyrodiil itch, and got me the achievements I need, and allows me to spend more time on BGs since I'm not locked in a loadscreen in Cyrodiil.

On both vivec and shor I found that i had random DCs when initially going near a busy keep however after a few restarts it became stable and I could happily play for a few hours, I plan to login later and stay in the home area for 5 mins or so and see if it helps me not have any dcs at all.

I have crashed 1 time since the event started. No more than normal and performance has been fine. I have been in Shor.

I logged 3 times in Sotha Sil PC EU this morning. All 3 times I got crash to desktop during the huge fights.

XBOX EU, not nearly as bad performance as I feared for Midyear Mayhem. It's about as bad as any other day prior to Summerset, you hardly notice that the entire server is full. On really big fights, ok, your abilities go off way to later etc., but this is some serious improvement to the recent catastrophe.
