Valije✭✭✭I don't whine that much usually, but since I got the early access, almost always I get home from work, the EU servers are down...
I hope you understand if you keep downtime hours like now, after the first 30 days the amount of people that pay the monthly fee will be not that much in EU.
Different servers -> different maintenance hours. Having a "EU" server down in EU peak hours is a nonsense, the same as having a "US" server down in US peak hours (I am sorry for the australinans).1 -

Sundays10:00 CEST is a bad time look at it and se if you patch for 3-4h you will hit prim time on a sunday 12.00 CEST. I work as a it-admin and all server patch and updates are done at night to make for less down time. so I don't se the point in making down time on sundays.

no, its *** bullshite. u pay for 5 days early acces, and out of the 5 days, ive been able to play 2 because of downtime. Iff they dont fix this *** by the end of the month i wont resubscribe.

Prime time in the Eu eh, it's Prime time in Na as well, you didn't pay for the five days early access you paid for the game, they gave you five days early access, you may have said to your self " Self I'm getting in five days early, and that's why I'm buying this version of the game".
When in fact you didn't purchase five days early access that being said Yes I agree it does suck hahahahaha. What was supposed to be 3-4 hours is now what five hours? I believe na shard came down at 1 pm edt or at least that's when I logged off....

You have got to be kidding. This is the worse managed early access ever.
You clearly were not around for FFXIV, early access was unplayable at any time day or night as they had no server queue and no afk kick feature so people would stay logging in 24 hours a day. Consider yourself lucky this game is being handled as well as it is, its predecessors weren't so (and by that I mean every other mmo launch I have ever seen).0 -

Why did they say it would be back up for launch in 3-4 hours? Isn't launch at 7 tomorrow? What is going on?
The servers don't get shut down between now and launch, they're just doing what they need to do for the transition, once they come back up we can ply from here on out as if it were live... After all it mine as well be...Brave New World.0 -

I agree with the lack of warning though. If this was planned, they need to be more forthcoming with their down time information. If it wasn't planned, they should definitely not be passing it off as such.
I'm not "asking" them to work a few more hours, I am paying for it. If you are not prepared to cater to an EU audience properly in an online game, then don't advertise that you do. An EU mega server implies use by EU players, who live in EU time zones and have EU jobs. I work in the financial markets and we manage quite nicely with time zones and such things - I don't call my colleagues in Chicago when they are not there and I schedule phone conferences or virtual meetings around times when they are. This is not rocket science in the year 2014.
Please stop defending really poor decision making. They are raking in more than enough money on this to pay 3 or 4 employees overtime for a few weeks a year to patch a game sever at a time that better suits the paying client. How is this even a discussion point ? I am a client and I am paying to play this game at a prime time when I can virtually guarantee that others that are time zone matches will also be playing, because that's what they told me I was buying. With that comes the expectation of certain services. Do you go to a restaurant and think it ok if they bring the food when it suits them best to do so ? Oh, so sorry your meal is 5 hours late. There are no legal requirements for them to do it differently, but would you really ever go back there and think it was a great place to eat ?

Erlqueen✭I've read all this thread with my usual of what the heck attitude but Sunday maintenance has to be a mistype surely?
I'm looking forward to (hopefully) playing this game during the next month before subscription payment kicks in.
I'm hoping that all the BS that has gone before will be forgotten within that first few joyful hours of getting back into the game (if it ever let's me).
I'm usually quite laid back about this things, it is after all just a game and there are others that I can enjoy just as much instead, but seriously I'm thinking more and more of just playing for the time I've paid for, write off the price I paid for the game, and go back to playing a game where the customers actually seem to come first.
and before some troll comes along to say sarkily "We'll miss you" whatever... don't bother you are missing my point. If I'm considering this then there will be a lot of others also thinking the same.
I know that some hiccups were bound to happen but this is beyond the pale
It could all have been handled so much better.

FF XIV early access was in fact very buggy, but seriously i was logged in for 2 days straigh without problems (that was better then waiting forever in queques)
Btw FF XIV is one of other MMOs that keep both NA and EU server in North America (Canada in this case).

EQ2 didn't have an afk kick. In fact, I don't recall if they ever added one.
If you're the only one in an instance it'll close it after 30 minutes afk, booting you offline, but that's the only thing I noticed. Closes instance to save on server resources.
You used to go afk in merchant mode in your house to sell things for consignment instead of using the broker, so you needed to be able to be in game without an auto afk kick.
I know FFIV has that merchant system thingy but I don't know how it works. Havent played it.0 -

✭✭✭✭✭Thinking about it a little more, the absurdity of taking down the EU megaserver at players' prime time on a Sunday morning could be better understood if it was a convenient (for which read "cheap") time for the maintenance team - but as I understand it, the maintenance is planned on a regular basis for the team at 4:00 am on a Sunday - can there be a worse time to ask people to work, let alone a more expensive one? It's not like you even tell us how long the maintenance is planned to take. Late morning? Mid-afternoon?2 -

Dont be dumb... "prime time" is from 8pm to 11pm. What you're referring to is called "early fringe"... and its from 5pm-8pm.
About the week maintenance... What you guys have to understand is that this isnt WoW and yes, while we're burned from the 8 hours a week of "U NO PLAY" zenimax is taking a different approach on maintenance - In DAoC we never had a "U NO PLAY" day every damn week... only big patch-days and still they didnt last as long as WoW's regular maintenance does - still to this day I wonder what Blizzard does with all that time every freaking week and worse than that I wonder what the *** does that has to do with my Diablo and why cant I play it on tuesdays - Now this is something that people should be pissed about yet they accept it... because its Blizzard? Because its WoW? I dont know...
As for the "sunday" maintenance. Well the odds that I would play on a sunday at 9am... are slim to none and that would happen only if I was still up, because I would NEVER wake up at 9 am on a sunday and even if I do, its not to play ESO. But still... I have to agree that doing maintenance at weekends is a bad practice - a very bad one actually - it shouldnt even be contemplated let alone approved - who was the BRAIN behind that decision - Do you need Donald? Or do you have someone there who can fire him/her with style? A person that is capable of regurgitating such garbage certainly can come up with a lot worse - kill it with fire before it breeds. Seriously... its a terrible idea.
About today's downtime... you all whiners shut up. They're preparing for launch, fixing stuff and getting all that ready... they fixed so much in this last month its almost unbelievable - show some respect for their work - I'm from europe, stop with those "prime time" bs comments... who cares about your prime time? Cant you understand? The US guys have been without playing for 10 hours just a day ago while we just collected the fruits of their patch - we should consider ourselves lucky we only have 3 hours downtime - plus its thursday I'm sure you can endure one night and then you'll have all weekend and week to play the game... just go watch a movie, read a book, get laid for the first time, I dont know... so much stuff for you guys to do... The game will be up in no time - just relax and let zenimax do their job and then you can play all the time you want - just let them RELEASE THE GAME OK? DO YOU LET THEM RELEASE THE GAME? Thanks... well i think they will but: The North American and European megaservers will first be hosted in North America. This gives us a more efficient way to address any platform issues that may arise at launch. After the initial launch phase is over, we will move the European megaserver to the European datacenter.Is there any reason why they can't schedule the maintenance for the servers independently? what i think there doing now is moving the EU servers from North American datacenters to European datacenters!
