No worries. Sometimes, you know, being new is really great, because you go read EVERYTHING you can find about the game. I've done that with every game I've ever played (eh - lots easier now with google for sure!) since the very first one: Stonegate - back when I was on a Xerox dos machine, and anything about the machine or games etc tended to be sent by mail (er - um - postal service as in snail mail) on mimeographed pages - nope, not kidding.... first computer in 1984, first CRPG in early 1985.

Believe me when I say: 1 - I am forever grateful for my early machines and experiences; 2 - I will forever wish that computers had been available the way they are now when I was in my 20s; 3 - I'm VERY happy with the state of digitally available information today.

Yep. My only real regret is that I was years too early to truly buy into the digital age. Eh, it's one of those things that's happened over and over throughout my life: I'm either way too early with ideas - or way too late.

Thanks :) I'm totally feeling like a dork, though. Still, learning this has been awesome! I'm imagining how much better every single NPC conversation I'll have from now on will be now that their heads won't be clipped by the twilight's wings and tail-- or the clannfear's head.

One of these days I'll understand what's interactive on these menus and what isn't... Eventually. Guess I'm now spending my first twenty minutes today logged in mousing over every single part of every menu just to see what I'm missing ;) Probably 90% of the game...

[quote="I agree with everything on your list 100% but what I hate more than anything is when people stand in front of doors and stuff. Are they pretending that they are guards or something? And you know it absolutely intentional so it's a good thing that players are intangible. Could you imagine if they weren't :o

Ah yes, the door thing! There might actually be a chance they ARE pretending to be guards or something due to RP, but the chance of that is very, very slim. You made me remember some buffoon who was blocking the entrance to the kitchen in Craglorn by summoning their merchant assistant and parking her right there. Alas, the merchant is NOT intangible, and this person took sadistic delight in ignoring people's pleas to move her. Fortunately I discovered that I could dodge roll right past her and get into the room, but it was quite annoying. So yes, I could imagine if they weren't, and it makes me grateful that they aren't.

Okay so why do you think they stand in front of doorways? I personally see it as trolling. How do you see it?

Personally, I use loadscreens as time to go get a drink or whatever, so that sometimes leads to me standing in a doorway if I'm not back quick enough. Genuinely didn't consider that it would be something that might bother people tho!

Today I wanted to talk to you about a little thing called common courtesy. I know there are a lot of people that play this game. And that means a lot of overcrowding in this game. And I know some gamers out there are Self-entitled, to say the least. So have the decency when playing ESO to stay out others people ways when doing quests. Especially when trying to see story content. I personally hate when some random player is just standing there and either loitering or "block traffic" yes you're allowed to stand anywhere you, please. But seriously do it elsewhere It's like when you're trying to watch TV and someone walks right in front of you. It's annoying, to say the least. I thank you :p

    1. Tea-bagging. It's childish trash and I imagine the person doing it must be either a screeching 12 year-old who snuck on to play mom/dad's game, or some creepy dude/female who smells like dirty dill pickles and foot cheese.

    2. Music playing in area chat or people yelling at someone in their actual vicinity. Mics have mute buttons, so handle it and use them. Your life and your musical taste isn't as interesting to other people as you think.

    3. Getting take-out and they forget to add a fork to the bag. I'm not obtuse to eating with my hands, but other people seem to frown on that, so...

    Wait for the best part.

You're playing a quest, and you have to gather some resources off the ground.

Then out of no where, some random player streaks in from out of no where , literally, and steals the resource you have to pick up that's right in front of you and you can't stop them because it's in PvE zones, they take it because they too are also doing the same quest.

    How's that for common courtesy?

I've seen that a number of times but I think most players are actually quite courteous. If I see someone next to a resource I'll generally leave it be unless it becomes apparent that they're not interested in it and I need it, but I won't try and steal it out from under them. I've experienced a couple of people try it on with me but not often, and then there's the occasional time a couple of us make a dash for the same thing but again not that common.

    Courtesy tips

    1. Unsummon your familiar when in town. You honestly need in town and besides, it's distracting to other players (This Applies to Sorcers)
    2. When you see another player headed for a resource, find another one there are plenty of resources in the game. Don't swoop in and take it just because you see another player headed for it. Unless you truly need it. And they don't
    3. Try and be helpful in chat, and make sure to thank the "person" for there help.
    4. Give someone a chance in a random dungeon, instead of kicking them out. They might be really good.
    5. Instead of telling someone to "get good" offer to help them out instead.

Does anyone want to add to these tips?

Why does it have to be that way? Just because it's an MMO and how is me doing a "quest" annoying to the other party exactly? That's what the game is about doing quests, crafting etc... and the reason I posted on this forum was to give feedback on the game. And I knew people would read and respond. Were all trying to have a good time, that's why we play games right? So a little common courtesy never hurts.

This. I have a Sorc. She dismisses her summon when she's headed for town. It's SO annoying to have twilights in your face at the wayshrine, the bank, the crafting stations.... Pretty much the first thing I noticed about this game's players.... SO annoying. So are the ones who pack the bank in Vivec while mounted.
Yes, find it annoying myself then on sorcerer so unsummon it, only has it on healer build so if I switch to DD or overland it goes away. Might have it up in elden root as I check pledges, switch to healer and browse guild stores or something.

You can Unsummon them. All you have to do is swap them out in your inventory bar for another ability. And congrats! You have unsummoned. Sure you have to go an extra step but it's still possible.

If you're on PC you can also use my add-on made for this purpose:

I try not to be impolite or in anyone's way in the game. I admit, though, I can be oblivious sometimes, and have on the rare occasion accidentally sailed past someone (not noticing them) on their way to a chest or resource, and only realised it after.

People standing in front of doors don’t bother me at all, as doors can still be activated.
