Idea: Custom Assistant Costumes

As we now have the outfit system as well as costumes and armor for all the PC's why not allow the assistants to wear a costume that their associated player has both unlocked and selected/dyed for them.

This would make them more unique by reusing the 1/2 piece costumes on them.

As an example or 3...
Treasure Hunter - Merchant
Merchant Lord - Banker
DB Robe - Smuggler

This would help make the multiple replicants of these assistants more unique and give us another way to show off costumes especially if we are using the newer outfit system ourselves.

They showed us some new assistants last year. They need to come out with those models. I refuse to use Nuzimeh personally and the dark elf is so ugly.

And make them upgradable. With padsives and skill points that affect them like the one we sell stoen goods to.

Have you seen the merchants or bankers run behind their master riding his horse at full speed?

    Shame on you guys :'(

    A mount would be better.

I understand why you would say that...
But as all NPC's have voice acting (No matter how annoying it is.) I was trying to suggest a way to reuse those existing assets to at least allow for an improvement of the existing assistants looks with minimal cost and overhead for ZOS, to give players the option to at least recostume them.

Fair point, a mount (If the player has collected at least 1) could be assigned to them along with a dyed costume, infact that could be used to showcase the mount's full upgrades since those NPC's should be able to afford maximum riding skills by now.

i like it. i can imagine a dev considering this idea and balking at all those "loading resources" being spent on a model who isn't even a customer, though. still, i'd love to dress up Tythis as a Telvanni who dotes on me, or (considering how aggravating his interface and "AI" is) just making him look absolutely ridiculous to shame him. i'd spend full price at the Outfit Station, gladly sink some gold, for either option.

Guessing his costume would be the Nordic beach towel then. :D

As for the resources they are obviously only in use when player summoned, just like the current mounts, polymorphs, mementos, emote animations, etc.
    Vampire skin - all
I posted about that too, here: [Class Rep] Vampire Feedback Thread
For the non vamp look they could add a stage 0 fully saitiated vamp which has your pre vamp look, normal eyes etc.

The crown skin that was available with the flame red eyes (Sorry I can't remember it's name) had an awesome preview - red glow behind vamp pupils etc. but the actual skin just has the fire glow eyes and ubersmooth skin.
We need that behind pupil eye glow option maybe even with other vfx like flames, doom glow, frost mist, storm lightning, etc. for all vamps/magicka classes.

I agree! I really wish I could dress up my assistants, any options of suggested here will do - outfit station, costumes :)<3
Giving them a mount to follow me would be great too, although compared to simple costume customization, this idea would be too complicated to actually make  But ability to to at least customize their visuals would justify their high cost, cause it is really high for just two basic services :/

Three if you get the Smuggler via the Thieves Guild DLC

You need to complete Zeira's personal quest, The One That Got Away, which is the true "final quest" of the Thieves Guild. This unlocks at Thieves Guild Rank 10.

As for the costume issue, yes with outfits there would be, but as I mentioned most costumes are literally 1 piece with 3 dye slots and a few including a helm/hat which is 1 additional item/hidden with a further 3 dye slots for those.

With the selectable costumes limited to those already in the players collection*, and the potential option of linking a player owned mount* from the same collection it's at most 9 extra bits of information needed: costume, hat, 3 body + 3 hat dyes and the selected mount. But then their existing costume would become their default option costume, hat and dyes accordingly, leaving just their selected mount info to add.

*Has the added effect of potentially increasing demand for additional costumes and mounts.

Their mount would require 3 checks to be used: Assistant is summoned, player has summoned a mount and assistant has a mount selected for them. Basically the way a new player cannot ride a newly acquired mount, without having to select their mount first - even if they only have the one.

It would also have the effect of force dismounting and blocking assistants mounting whilst in buildings, delves, etc. because their associated player would be force dismounted in these locales, no player summoned mount - no assistant mount.
I've tried to think this out both as a player and for the ESO devs so that it should be easier for a small team to add without cutting into other/future content, which is why it suits costumes more when compared to the data required for a players gear/outfit.

It also allow for future changes/additions to them such as:
    • Character Packs - Basically assistant skin and voice packs, to be added to them the way Collectors Edition Wardens can reskin their Ultimate Bear.
    • Assistant Ability Unlocks - Such as guild bank access for Guild Officers who have this access at normal banks. (The idea being to make the guild bank more manageable for guild leaders, without them having to drop helping their guilds to go find a bank.)
    • Etc...

Don't give a flying duck what they look like, I just want to be able to kill their scrawny arses. That banker chappy runs away from me far too often. Let me teach him who pays the bills.

Already explained why that happens here: https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/comment/5014807#Comment_5014807
From when the assistants were introduced it's been a feature/ahem bug
The idea is they spawn in and come running up to your summon co-ordinates, but you have moved so it runs to the summon, then re-targets you and runs to where you were again, re-targeting you....

    Example with key:
    B = Banker, S = Player Summoning Position, T = Bankers Target, P = Players Position

    __________P_ < Player summoning Banker/Assistant
_B___P___S_ < Banker/Assistant heading for players ORIGINAL position, Player headed to Banker/Assistant
_P_______B_ < Banker/Assistant has passed the Player and is now re-targeting them from behind the Player
_T__P_B____ < Banker/Assistant still targeting where the player was but the player has opened the interaction window
_B__P______ < Yes the Banker/Assistant wandered off to the previous player location and then comes back

Ideal scenario, summon Assistant and wait for them to get to you
Best case ZOS fixes them to either lag the server constantly pinging you or makes them more static.

But based on the Non Combat pets spawning in facing backwards I wouldn't hold my breath for a fix, but at least you know why the Assistants, especially the Banker are idiots and keep running past you.

Hope this helps make sense of it all...

I've always thought Nuzimeh is a merchant, shouldn't she have enough money to afford some new clothes, or at least have bought the same outfit in different colors?. There are instances in the game where "multiple Nuzi" are out, and having my version with at least a different shade of sash or shirt would make it easier to pick her out of the group and dismiss before moving on.

Also, variety in hairstyles, costumes and hats that the player has purchased to be used on the assistants-Tythus in a wedding dress FTW!
Ebonheart Pact, Nord Templar/healer on NA Xbox server. My main toon WAS a tall and foxy redhead - now she has been gamma-irradiated and has green skin and black hair. 3 other characters I only use for writs. Can't be bothered to create multiple toons - EXCEPT now my WW is getting spooled up for Cyrodiil - Blood For The Pact! IRL cranky sometimes redhead chick at large in Las Vegas, NV

Nice to see at least some players are in agreement about my costume and mount suggestion for the assistants, designed to be easier for ZOS to add to the base game with minimal additional overhead (Shouldn't cause lag) which is a benifit to all players.
As for the outfit alternative sure if you want it as a paid DLC!

With 7x4 data per assistant, mostly limited to armor pieces with upto 3 dyes on each, that would make being near a bunch of assistants worse than a cyro lagfest!!!

yeah, plus how so many players neglect to dismiss their assistants before launching their next grand adventure.

sure, i can settle for Tythis in a wedding gown and antlers.

Agreed but ZOS seem to prefer players use the non RP method for dismissing them, by going into the Collectables menu , selecting assistants and unchecking your 'pet' assistant.
