The solution is simple. Cancel your ESO+ and stop every transactions. I did it. If everybody do it, they will have no choice to do something.

it is called "direct connection" just like LOADS of players before One Tamriel can do it too even if they have it on steam....
I am pretty sure if ZOS can cough up a good lawyer they can bail out of the contract. If they can prove Steam is the culprit here, it's basically breaching of a contract from their end...
That would heavily depend on the contract's language. Also the part where it would probably result in Steam pulling all Zenimax titles from the platform... Yeah, that'd be really worth it.
1. ESO gets pulled from the Steam store.
2. All the players who buy the game will be actually able to play, and give their money to ZOS.
3. ZOS ends up having more money because Valve doesn't take their cut from the purchases.
This is a good outcome from every aspect.
1. More likely, citing the breach of contract as an act of bad faith, Steam pulls all Zenimax titles get pulled from Steam. So that's not just ESO, but every Elder Scrolls title, Fallout in all incarnations, Prey, the Doom reboot. Meaning if you purchased Fallout 4 for PC, sorry, that game doesn't exist anymore.
2. All the players who bought the game through Steam get to sit in Customer Service for three weeks while CS tries to figure out if you actually bought the game on Steam or are trying to scam them into getting a free game. Except, because every Steam Account evaporated at once, CS chokes and dies, meaning you never get back in.
3. ZOS ends up with far less money to work from, as the entire PC division of Zenimax/Bethesda hemorrhages cash due to losing access to the largest digital distribution platform in the industry.
Or, as I said, "BRILLIANT!"
Yah, that doesn't work for everybody. I've tried it. It only works if you bought the game before Dec. 2016 or somesuch. Anything after that date, and it won't let you.Why dont you guys just play the game from eso64.exe in the steam folder? I have all my purchases available and there is no need to log into Steam

You can, I have done it, been playing steam-less every since. For over a year now.
Maybe share how you did it so that the folks who are frustrated can do the same?
It cannot be done unless you bought the game 2 years ago
Did you all who cannot open a ticket? You BOUGHT the game. You OWN it, they should be able to help. Or if not, create a new account and link it.
um, no.... you bought a licence to use it. you don't own it.

1. ZOS is, by all means, an independent company. I'm not seeing why this would result in every Zenimax, the big Zenimax' games be pulled from the Steam store.
2. In this case, it would result in many people who can actually play the game and give ZOS money getting the game. After all this trouble, perhaps it would still be beneficial for the company. How much is lost... a purchase worth 20€ (minus what Valve takes!), for a person who will most likely end up spending hundreds in the crown store?

In the case of ESO, it's not even that. It's a license to access the service, as I recall.

I am curious -- genuinely so, I'm not being snide or blaming anyone -- but what was the attraction to buying ESO via Steam in the first place? Why buy -any- game that requires a third party platform to be up and running and you to be logged in to said platform before you can play the game you paid for? Plus it complicates customer service concerns if anything goes wrong.
I have used Steam minimally, for Skyrim, for a "Stacking" game a friend gave me, I'm not sure if for anything else (maybe Obduction is via Steam?). It's felt far too intrusive and clunky. I feel terrible for you Steam account users that are having such issues playing ESO and of course there's nothing to be done about it now, you're trapped.
But why did you go that route in the first place? What are the benefits? There must be something to attract people to use this roundabout method of game access for games they could just as easily buy directly from the source. (Assuming they can, maybe they are in countries that have Steam access but no direct purchase power to Zenimax?).

I have often wondered why people put their gaming into the hands of a third party instead of dealing direct. Just does not make sense to have a constant middle man to mess things up.
In other words, anyone thinking of linking to steam, think twice.
"We are aware that some Steam players are having issues logging into the North American and European PC/Mac megaservers. We are actively investigating and will let you know when we have an update. Thank you!"
"Some"... as in ALL...
UNLINK our game from Steam... You have been incompetent for weeks straight to keep an MMO running smoothly so give us that option already...
Thank you

Not in my case and many others.WarMasterCyp wrote: »If you launch it from the install folder there is a specific executive file that allows you to launch it with out steam.
