Can you be "aware" of the REAL issue here that "some" Steam players have??

"Some"... as in ALL...

UNLINK our game from Steam... You have been incompetent for weeks straight to keep an MMO running smoothly so give us that option already...

Thank you

Probably can't unlink Steam accounts, as that was baked into the contract that got ESO on Steam in the first place.

Give the option then for people to be able to run it outside steam on way or another during this mess... Even if it stays in steam

No, I mean, they probably can't do that, contractually. Steam is incredibly possessive of the microtransaction revenue stream in the games they sell. This means, if you purchased through Steam, it's probably, contractually, impossible to separate the account from Steam.

Yes it is easy. We all have an ESO account with a login and password. Simply allow the direct connexion.

And then get sued for breach of contract. BRILLIANT!!!

Maybe share how you did it so that the folks who are frustrated can do the same?

My understanding is, that's only possible if you had an ESO account before purchasing it on Steam and linking those accounts.

If that's not true, then stop complaining on the boards, and go poke Customer Service.

PLEASE let's not go thru this SAME thing that happens everytime (every week) that ESO in Steam is down...

We are well aware that you can do that IF you purchased the game BEFORE a certain date... A lot of people havent and these people CAN'T login even through eso64.exe...

Did you all, who cannot, open a ticket? You BOUGHT the game. You OWN it, they should be able to help. Or if not, create a new account and link it.

I am pretty sure if ZOS can cough up a good lawyer they can bail out of the contract. If they can prove Steam is the culprit here, it's basically breaching of a contract from their end...

That would heavily depend on the contract's language. Also the part where it would probably result in Steam pulling all Zenimax titles from the platform... Yeah, that'd be really worth it.

    1. ESO gets pulled from the Steam store.
    2. All the players who buy the game will be actually able to play, and give their money to ZOS.
    3. ZOS ends up having more money because Valve doesn't take their cut from the purchases.

This is a good outcome from every aspect.

    1. More likely, citing the breach of contract as an act of bad faith, Steam pulls all Zenimax titles get pulled from Steam. So that's not just ESO, but every Elder Scrolls title, Fallout in all incarnations, Prey, the Doom reboot. Meaning if you purchased Fallout 4 for PC, sorry, that game doesn't exist anymore.
    2. All the players who bought the game through Steam get to sit in Customer Service for three weeks while CS tries to figure out if you actually bought the game on Steam or are trying to scam them into getting a free game. Except, because every Steam Account evaporated at once, CS chokes and dies, meaning you never get back in.
    3. ZOS ends up with far less money to work from, as the entire PC division of Zenimax/Bethesda hemorrhages cash due to losing access to the largest digital distribution platform in the industry.

    Or, as I said, "BRILLIANT!"

Why dont you guys just play the game from eso64.exe in the steam folder? I have all my purchases available and there is no need to log into Steam

Because the ability to do that is limited to people who bought their account before November 2016, or something like that. I'm enough of an old-timer to be able to play through the .exe launcher, but anyone with a newer account can't do that.

In the case of ESO, it's not even that. It's a license to access the service, as I recall.

This is what? The third time this has happened in just about as many months? Have asked before and will ask again, what is my sub paying for? A game heading into 5 years, still constantly having major problems. How does this exact same problem continue to occur on a habitual basis? It's mind boggling:-D
