How many mmo games did you play before eso?

I've tested 65+ before testing ESO...and add another 10 that I bought but didn't test so about 80 games over the years.

The first online multiplayer game I tested/played was the game Yserbius for the folks over at The Sierra Network! -)

    Eve online

    Champions online
    Aion for about a month
    Star trek online
    The Secret World
    Guildwars 2
    Elder Scrolls Online

I've tried out quite a few MMORPG (GW2, LOTRO, the like) here and there but they didn't stick. The only other MMORPG I've played actively (very actively) was RappelZ, which you've probably never heard about x)
PC/EU - PVE 2H stam orc petsorc (meta, what meta?) ww - terrible dps - mediocre player - fun times - free ww bites to whomever asks so don't be shy if interested

In no particular order: Guild Wars 1, Everquest 2, World of Warcraft, Runes of Magic, Perfect World, Aion, LOTRO, Rift, Guild Wars 2, SWtoR, Champions Online, DC Universe Online, Secret World, Final fantasy XIV, Wizard 101... and a bunch of Asian F2P MMOs that weren't worth sticking with.
I have a lifetime sub for LOTRO. WoW is probably my favorite and the one I've spent most money on.

I tend to hop between MMOs, playing them a few months in a row and then moving on, that way when I return the game is fresh and new again. Often either my husband or my daughter (or both) will join me in whatever my MMo of choice is, but I don't really join guilds anymore.

EsO is fun and set in my favorite gaming setting, I love the single player games. It does however have an unfortunate tendency to feel the need to reinvent the wheel, and then misses more often then hit in my opinion. One Tamriel is a brilliant change to the game though, and moved the game up high on my list of favorite MMOs.

    Not a single one.
What brought me to ESO it's just the Elder Scrolls world.

Came late to modern MMOs. Got hooked by LOTRO then later tried Path of Exile DDO and Neverwinter. Then ESO. Still here with occasional nostalgic annual return to LOTRO.

    ...nuff said

^^^^ That. And we won't even get into MUDS or BBS games.

MUDs do not really fulfill the requirement of the first M in MMO though - I played a few, at most around 100 characters concurrently, but most of the time far less than that. A few of those are still going strong, even to this day.

I'm aware. Hey, they were really cool and innovative at the time though. :) Anyway the point I was trying to make, and apparently failed to, is that I have loved "multi-player" (from the small to the gigantic) games for a long, long time.

None. I had to learn everything from scratch. Even had to look up the more usual abbreviation and jargon to make sense of zone chat. Since I started playing ESO I haven't had time to play anything else, and most likely I never will, since I'm already in my 30s and my gaming time starts to dwindle. It's pretty exhausting holding a full time job, doing the house chores and playing enough to stay at a decent level over multiple characters & roles in both PvE and PvP.

Later edit: I forgot to mention it, but I actually tried one before ESO but I found it unbearably boring, due to bad graphics, game-play and general feeling of emptiness, probably because it was F2P. It was called Runes of Magic or something like that. I gave up after 3 days and never looked back.

I picked up ESO because I played other TES games before, and I liked it since I joined the Beta. I didn't buy the game until much later though, until it became B2P since I didn't consider it worth playing enough to be worth a monthly subscription. I played for almost 2 years without subscription, until it became advantageous enough to have it. I think it was double bank space that swung the scales.

I'm glad to see some Dark Age of Camelot players. Best MMO I ever played in my youth. Apart from DAoC and ESO, I didn't play that many and not for long. I guess it never clicked again until this one.

Dofus was enjoyable. Conquer Online was okay (but both were more like a pastime than a unforgettable experience). I almost got into Rift but gave up after some time.

My first and only game was Rift, played for 3 years then started looking for a new game when I got fed up with cash shop antics. One of the reg streamers i watched left to come to ESO so I figured I would check it out, that was a year and a half ago. There are some things I miss from Rift, mainly the auction house and you could sell mounts from lockbox to other players for platinum. Rift's lockbox are way worse than ESO's,most times you only got 1 item. ESO is my first Elder Scrolls game, and I am enjoying it,warts and all,but their cash shop game is starting to resemble Rift's.
