Artaeum Pickled Fish Bowl - working or bugged?

I really don't like how this works - pretty much punishes people for playing together if you have more than two people who want to fish. It also strongly encourages griefing, and even if it's not intentional, people are getting into fights when randoms come up to fish a hole with two people already at it.

Really poorly thought out, and I hope it's actually just a bug, but we'll have to wait until Tuesday at least for an idea if this is working as intended.

I fully tested it tonight. It requires 2 people fishing at the same time at the same spot. 1 person does not make it work, and three people makes it not work. Not sure if this is WAI, or bugged. every time I cast with 2 people per hole I got x2, when I did solo, or with 3 people I got One drop.

I think it's pretty safe to say that we have confirmed the double drops happen in duo fishing, and no effects for solo or three people of more.

Devs, can this really be the intentions for this recipe? Like others have said, why punish solo and group fishermen? Already people are complaining about trolls, griefers and just plain random people ruining their expensive food and fishing by joining a team of 2 people fishing. Did you honestly not see this coming? If 100 % increased droprate is deemed too powerful for solo fishers, then make it a proc like plentiful harvest perk, and make it have a % chance to proc double loot. Don't lock out solo fishers from using this food at all.

Like I already said, and I'm sure all Master Anglers can agree, the time spent fishing is perhaps one of the least rewarding activities at all, compared to node farming, motif hunting or just about anything else. And most people fish solo for the majority of the time. Having a food that specifically requires you to be in a 2 man group defeats the whole purpose.

Could you at least confirm whether this is a bug or not? The current implementation seems to be so clumsy, that it most of all appears like it's bugged.

2nd account will just sit and watching in first loot he got(Autoloot OFF)

I only did some quick testing with it in Arteum and Summerset, got normal drops while fishing solo and double drops when fishing with someone else.

If this recipe is working as intended, and nothing is changed in the future, then you're bound to go fishing with me in Summerset in perpetuity. I don't know anyone on PC-EU who fishes this much, and I need another person to take advantage of this silly recipes. Match made in (fishing) heaven

catch a fish but didnt loot it
alt tab to your main account and enjoy doublefish every turn

just alttab time to time to 2nd acc to be sure it will not be kicked for afk

This item is definitely not working correctly and if the intent was to only have it affect 2 players, why? Like everything else in the game, I can't control random players running up and zerging what I am doing, whether it be pvp, leveling, or fishing. Finding a fishing spot with just one person on it in the new content is practically impossible and finding someone with the dedication I have to work on older content is close to the same. Please fix it to work within zergs and for solo players. Currently in Summerset/Artaeum most fishing spots have 3-5 people on them.

From what i've seen. When solo fishing with this food , maybe 1/10 are double. When fishing with 2 people you get double fish 100% of the time. And when fishing with 3 people it seems like it is 0%.

When you are with 2 people it's not 100%. I still occasionally get a single.
I have tested it a lot.

ZOS this needs to be addressed please. If you take your sweet time on this people will likely have moved on due to the markets being saturated or achievements reached.

I fished for about 2 hours with exactly one other person and in nearly every case, it was double drops. This recipe is absolutely insane. With a minimal investment of finding one friend, you double your efficiency when fishing. No other buff in the game is this powerful. If you are fishing and not doing it with this drink and exactly one other person, you are now losing out. If anything is wrong with the recipe it's that it will warp the "fishing metagame". Before, you were encouraged to fish with others and certainly not penalized for doing it alone. Now you're very much encouraged to fish a very specific way to maximize your time.

It has nothing to do with you seeing your partner's line being in the water. Once they press the 'cast line' button/key it counts. I tested it with the other person in the same room and it's 100% confirmed. You always get 2 'fishes' when the other line is 'properly cast' and always 1 'fish' when you are fishing with only one line or more than two lines in the water. The bug/feature will be fixed tomorrow, so be happy that you saw it before it's gone

I got the recipe yesterday morning for Pickled Fish Brew. When I saw the phrase about fish being attracted to you, I assumed you would get some perk if you used it while fishing (so I made a batch).

After fishing for roughly 6 hours (using PFB) yesterday and today (total), here is what I found:

* 1-person at the fishing hole: no effect
* 2-people fishing (casting their line) in the same fishing hole: there is a noticeable effect

Roughly 80-85% of the time you will receive two items per cast: most of the time you will get 2 fish (not ways identical fish, but they will be the appropriate 'type' of fish for the body of water); Infrequently you will get 1 fish + 1 'fish trophy' (i.e., rare fish). Very Rarely, however, you will get 1 fish + 1 'catchable item' (seaweed, wet sack (if in Artaeum), or bottle (if in Summerset)).

* 3 or more people with their lines in the same fishing hole: no effect from the Pickled Fish Brew. That being said, there is a problem with fishing in Summerset (largely Artaeum)-- too many people crowding around too few fishing holes. Fishing holes in Summerset / Artaeum (and everywhere else) don't work like the ones that were specially set up for the Winter's Festival fishing event. During that event you could have 20 people using the same fishing hole and everything worked just fine.

Generally speaking, fishing holes are ideal for 1-2 people (always have been). Three people will only slightly shorten the life of the fishing hole. Four people cause the fishing hole to live a 'half life'. But, when there are Five or more people, the fishing hole will die a very early death (roughly after 2x casts).

In case anyone was wondering: Pickeled Fish Brew does nothing to increase in the 'quality' of what you get.

What I didn't test: Whether one or both people need to be using Pickeled Fish Brew for both to get the 2-person fishing bonus.

Assuming PFB's fishing buff is working as intended-
Not a punishment for large groups -

This is NOT a punishment to larger groups - the more people using the same fishing hole the shorter the life expectancy the fishing hole has. What's the point of getting a fishing bonus if you can only cast your fishing line 2x before the hole dries up.

You can't expect ZOS to up the life expectancy of fishing holes to accommodate large groups ... that would make fishing spots prime real-estate for bots (except when done temporarily for anniversary or holiday events).

Loosing fishing bonus 'when others join-in' -

To any '2-person' fishing team getting miffed about loosing your fishing bonus when others want to join in (which should only be an issue in Artaeum) -- keep in mind that there are more people wanting to fish in Artaeum than there are holes for their poles (if you thought dirty .. grow up ). People crowd around Artaeum's fishing holes and put up with how frequently they despawn (run dry) because that's all they can do if they want to fish there. It's not like coming back later will be much better. You may want your fishing bonus, but they just want to fish.

The tooltip is deliberately vague.

Well no, it doesn't directly help with RNG, you don't get "better drops", but it works like the plentiful harvest perk - you have an RNG chance for ADDITIONAL drops per bait, so more than just 1 drop per 1 bait, as it currently is.

However, quite a few people have mentioned that this only works when 2 and only 2 people are fishing together, so not 1 solo person, or 3+, that is my major complaint and concern.

"Maybe drawn to you" has nothing to do with what type of fish as well (white, green, blue or even purple in one zone).

Just writing my experience/knowledge after two hours of testing.
The item basically gives you a double chance at loot.
You don't need to be grouped with the other person to get the double loot and the other person does not need to have the buff food as well.

Solo: No effect.
Duo: Guaranteed double drop as long as someone else has a line in the fishing pool when you get a catch.
Trio: No effect.

Personally I think this is silly.
I think it should work no matter how many people are currently using a fishing pool, and even when you're solo fishing.
There's enough incentive to group up for fishing as it is with improved drops - this just further penalizes solo fishing.

It works with EXACTLY 2 lures in the water at the time of you looting. So you'll get it most of the time with 1 other person, some of the time with 2, and none of the time beyond that.

I am quite upset about it, on the basis that expensive craft just ticks down when no one happens to be in my area looking to fish.

I got a few double drops by myself and few in large group but they were rare. with me and one other person also eating the food we got just about all double drops for almost 2 straight hours. even had a double bottle pull.
