...How on earth did you get a Master Writ? Are you level 50 already?
Getting to lvl 50 is the easiest part in Jewellery crafting... Yes, it requires some effort, but couple of dailys and pledges every day and you're done. Grinding mats and new pieces for research is nightmare.
I'm a Master Crafter now, and I was so happy to see crafting in ESO on the beginning! But then they nerfed crafted sets making most of it useless, later came P2W research scrolls, now the grindest of grinds... I'm so dissapointed I research Jewellery only to get the title and cool hammer - such a bitter achievement
Well, congratulations!
I took a different approach and focused on always having items for research. Since the Arcane/Healthy/Robust items we had from before were only going to cover me for 3 days, I worked on the Psijic quest line, then a friend made me an Infused ring with a trait stone I got, then I finished the main quest for the necklace and found an Infused necklace in a rift.
Now I'm working on pledges and PvP for the next traits, along with doing jewelry crafting writs on all my characters in hopes of getting a Swift ring and necklace. My crafter just hit level 18 this morning, but this approach has made it quite fun to do.
I'm also only refining the bare minimum until I have all the passives unlocked. And only using survey maps if I really need them.
as far as I know, (and i hope I'm wrong, but its what I read) you only have a chance for swift jewelry in max level writs.
And so gold jewelry will remain rare...just as they intended, and thats just fine actually because the difference between purple and gold is marginal at best. The only people really hurt by this are those who run 2 crafted sets...but its the cost of running 2 crafted sets I suppose.
In my humble opinion the numbers should be reworked. Compared to all other crafting professions jewellery crafting will cost 10x more, because you need 10 times the materials to upgrade. And I am not talking about the prices in the moment, because they are for sure much higher, because the system is new.
The same situation with master writs, i got a master writ for 105 vouchers and have to craft legendary jewellery. I will never do that, because it costs 10 times more than a blacksmithing 105 voucher writ.
Similar situation with the gear. Its easier/cheaper to farm or buy purple or gold gear than to craft it.
I totally understand that ZOS wants it to be special, but i think 10x more special is far too much.
Stop whining, you wanted it, you got it. Nobody says that anyone must craft golden rings after 4 days. And that is good.
for a moment. just for a moment. consider master writs. master writs that require legendary materials... and award 70 vouchers. now... confider the USELESSSness of doing said master writs, given how much of a loss they currently are. they actualy make 10 voucher psyjic ambrosia writs with their perfect roe requirement - look good by comparison. becasue even perfect roe is faster by FAR to farm in comparison and you only need 2 of those to complete a writ, not 2 green, 3, blue, 4 purple, and 8 golden mats TOTAL.
if you must, absolutely MUST make gold jewelry ultra rare... then either amount of vouchers needs to be adjusted, or requiring legendary jewelry to complete one. preferably both.

Agree. BUT let us wait 3 months at maximum. I expect a healthy market of ALL materials for jewelry crafting. It's just the normal hysteria at the beginning of something unknown.

except... it will never be anywhere near a market for the rest of the upgrade mats. especially gold mats. why? because you will STILL need 10 times as much. already, on pc at least tempering alloy is twice as expensive as rosin or wax (and has been long before jewelry crafting was even introduced. in fact it dropped in price slightly since everyone is trying to spawn the JC nodes, and yet.. its STILL twice as expensive and likely to remain so because its used to upgrade most weapons to gold). and JC nodes share spawns with ore.
base materials will drop in price, but upgrade mats? will STILL. BE. unduly expensive.

This is a gold sink that needs to be reworked.
3 nights of farming AP got me up 4 levels in JC
I should just run dolmens for 10 hours.
People are whining about this way too much. The system is perfect the way it is right now. Crafting should be rewarding to those who are willing to invest time and effort into it, and not be instantly accessible to anyone without such effort.
People im MMOs yearn way too much for instant gratification, which is exactly what this system does not provide. That is a good thing since it means stuff won't get shallow and boring a short while after release.
To sum it up, the jewelery crafting system is excellent.
Props to Zenimax for implementing it the way they did.

note that the option has been out for a week and you have already gotten to level 50 in the skill which advances by decon and by crafting so... that does not scream "too much required..." compared to **equipment** writs which require tons of motifs to generate any significant drop rate with master writs.
Since writ vouchers are neutral currency, it does need to be roughyl on par or in the neighborhood of the other equipments but the motif setup cost is the monkey in the wrench.
By not including style *and* making the "fuel" work like difficult metal working or silk - its just strange at the moment.
Not happy with the current stage either.
What they should have done was not make lesser materials, and have the rewards for doing the writs more vibrant than what they are now which is what having max tier writs should be doing is by having a better chance at drops but from the looks of it its no where near as good as Tier 1.

IT'S SUPPOSED TO BE HARD.
They WANT it to be hard.
They want trials and arenas and the gold vendor to still be viable and worthwhile.
This wasn't some "Oh, here's another skill for you all to use on a regular basis." This is a "I guess people are getting sick of spending 7 months without seeing their specific jewellery in the golden vendor, maybe, I guess, if they're willing to work for it, they can upgrade their jewellery...."
Crafting should be rewarding to those who are willing to invest time and effort into it, and not be instantly accessible to anyone without such effort.
EXACTLY. Thats my point. It is not rewarding at all compared to blacksmithing, sewing,, woodworking.
Any other method to get gold or gear or other stuff is much more rewarding
How is it not rewarding? The main point of jewelery crafting is threefold:
The first application of it is being able to craft set jewelery to give players more flexibility with their gear setups. This it achieves.
The second application is being able to upgrade gear you use that was previously not upgradable. Agility, endurance and other similar jewelery comes to mind, as well as trial jewelery for people who find themselves unable or unwilling to run/grind veteran trials for the gold versions. This it also achieves.
The third application would be to once again give players the ability to further customize their gear setups by being able to craft or transmute jewelery to have any of the new traits, or even the old ones for existing jewelery that was previously unavailable with said traits. This is achieved as well.
I really see no issue with the system whatsoever.

What is hard? A grind multiplied by 10 is hard? A grind is a grind, its length doesn't determine its difficulty. You say trials should be viable? Their sets alone make them viable, not the quality of the item. Gold vendor you say? What is viable about a rng seller, which is literally korean-mmo-tier? As I said, who is crafting jewerly with JCrafting? Noone, people use it for transmuting their existing gold jewelry.

I'll have a large enough data sample soon. :-)

Oh, I'm sure it will. The reason why other mats are so cheap is because people are sitting on tons of them. I remember when I hesitated to upgrade things to purple. Now I have over 2000 Elegant Linings, so it's not even a second thought.
Give it 3 months and we'll have far more stable pricing for jewelry mats (and I'm tickled to see that Platinum ounces are cheaper than Pewter ounces at the moment.)
