Nope. Yes, my answer was as informative, if not more, than the OP message.

I have never found it to be seizure looking though.

Many players in many games choose not to PvP because they cannot deal with it very well and I am talking about games that do not have AC.

As someone pointed out, if you want to PvP get used to this because it is not going away and this thread will not zero bearing on Zos' stance on the issue. In fact, several times in the past two years Zos double downed on the most basic part of AC heaving indicating it is here to stay.

Or even end game vet dungeons.. I can't even play these now with out people complaining that I'm not doing the dumb stuff to get the extra DPS? Do you get kicked or hassled for not doing it in pve?

Sorry to hear you seem to have been removed from a group. However this is not exactly dumb stuff.

There are good guilds at every dps capability. I expect you can find one that meets your needs.

It used to be much worse, they've sealed up some of the really ridiculous stuff you could do before. Now as long you you're light attack weaving, you should be fine.

Also, if you're getting kicked, I doubt it just because you wont do any animation canceling. You're most likely not pulling enough dps. If you're on PC get Combat metrics, if not just hit up a target dummy, and work at improving until you can consistently pull at least 20k. If you're having trouble try looking up a few guides. You don't have to go following them word for word, but they can give you some good general advice on how to improve your build.

honestly? i hate it. i hate that its a thing, i hate that its necessary, i hate how twitchy it makes combat. and I'm seriously considering writing a thank you post to ZoS for NOT tuning questing/normal difficulty content to require it and asking them to NOT listen to the "game is too easy!" crowd and keep it as is.

do I wish i could do end game content? yes. yes I do. but... at least the rest of the game can be done without it.

You do not have to learn how to do it. That is a choice.

BTW, seriously doubt there is a raid team in game that requires AC. The only AC in PvE that one will find commonly performed is weaving a light attack in before each skill. Actually AC on a skill is very rare outside of bar swap.

But do you know what this does.. It forces people like me to just rally for casual pve content from the Devs over PvP or vet content.. And slowly this will decay the content requesting from PvP or end game elites.

end game content can be done without animation canceling, you just need to find other like minded players who is willing to take you for handicapping yourself. Animation canceling requires a degree of skill to learn and practice and if you remove that then combat will go to feeling slow and clunky.

Animation canceling exists so that you as a player can react defensively (blocking/dodging) when you see an enemy mechanic that could kill your character. It keeps combat flowing smoothly and allows you to prevent a death that would otherwise be caused by you being stuck in an attack animation.

As a result, animation canceling isn’t going away any time soon.

A good rotation, light attack weaving, and good gear have FAR more to do with DPS than animation cancelling. I highly doubt you were specifically kicked from a vet dungeon group for not animation cancelling. You were probably kicked for doing sub-par DPS, and just assumed that meant you were kicked because you “weren’t animation cancelling.”

These threads are always so tiresome/repetitive/ill-informed and I honestly don’t have the energy to beat the dead horse again, so I’ll leave it at this: You don’t need to cancel animations to do 30k+ DPS or to be successful in PVP. End of story.

I don't know why the hell people still try to pretend that animation cancelling is like advanced physics or something. It's two button presses every 1 second. You don't need to be a super human to do it.

light attack weaving IS animation canceling. before you jump down my throat, you are canceling animation of a light attack with your skill casts, thus speeding up combat. you. are. animation. canceling. oh you can weave LA without actualy canceling any animations, but becasue that is significantly slower then using attacks to cancel LA - your dps doesn't actualy go up. ergo. you HAVE to animation cancel to do better dps.

also. people constantly confuse understanding what to do with actualy being able to do it. a button press every half a secon, and not just any button press - specific sequence of button presses, is harder for some then others.

Because like all things it can get really advanced.

Such as, switching bars to cancel endless hail or rearming trap, shield canceling dawnbreaker, and consistently weaving through all of the process. Learning to apply buffs/debuffs optimally, just optimal rotation in general.

In my experience on templar and sorc animation canceling and rotation optimization makes a 20-30k difference.

Maybe cancelling the animation should cancel the whole skill then? Basically a skill or light/heavy attack only gets effective at the end of its animation, and not the beginning/somewhen during the animation anymore. That way you can still block/dodge, even though you lose your attack by doing so, without being able to abuse the system.
That could even bring new strategic questions, like if its doable to finish the attack and then dodge immediately or if you should play it save and dodge now instead.

Not correct. Considering AC has been around for more than 4 years it is an empty statement to say it is decaying anything.

Plenty of people have cleared all vet trials without AC. Most that have cleared HM of all trials do not AC except for weaving a light attack and when they are bar swapping anyhow.

Granted, it seems you are a little salty about something, but you have yet to actually provide anything substantial to back up your the generalizations you are making.
    DanteYoda wrote: »

And it is clearly not an exploit by any stretch of the imagination. Surprised someone tries to claim AC is an exploit when the developers themselves have said it is legit.

I dunno what sort of people you come across in group finder, I've never seen anyone get kicked for not animation cancelling. It's usually a kick if someone has very little contribution to the team e.g snipe>la>la>snipe or liquid lightning>ward>wall>roll dodge>ward>ward

I don't understand why so many people keep asking for the wrong thing. Animation cancelling is fine and needs to stay. What people should be asking for is for the skill not to register if it is animation cancelled.
