    Dragonknight and Tank.

My main is a DK Tank, Dragonknight is my favorite class in general. DK has a nice set of skills that are great for Tanks, they also have chains (although changes in Summerset may force me to switch to Silver Leash), and some great CC skills.

I've always enjoyed playing Tanks. I love that type of role, protecting my fellow group mates while being able to control the battlefield are two of my favorite things to do in MMOs. Plus the near non-existent wait time for Tanks in group finder for dungeons is always a huge a plus, it makes farming gear a lot easier for my other characters.

I love templar! Healer roles have always been my favorite in any game. It can be a lot of responsibility, but pulling off a hard dungeon/vet dungeon is definitely rewarding. I have my hours spread out across my charcters, but for sure my main templar has the most time.

Loving my Orc Stam Warden. Maybe it’s just my jacked up build that makes him so well rounded. Same with my Stamplar. They’re just tuff fun easy to play. For me anyways.

I main a StamBlade. So that guy holds a spot. And a lot of achievements.

I really suck at magic toons.

Hard choice! I’ve always enjoyed the Sorc role whatever MMO I’m playing. Magsorc is my main.

I have recently started playing a magblade and I have to say it’s pretty fun! Just feels more lore friendly using funnel health and invisibility as a vampire :’)

Hard to pick THE class because I rather enjoy playing several classes in roles that click best with my preferred playstyles. Keep in mind that I spend a lot of time in Cyro, or soloing group content

    DK - tanky mage.

    NB - mobile mage.

    Sorc - mobile stam DD.

    Templar - healing mage.

    Warden - tanky stam DD.

I started this game with an Argonian DK tank. He's still rock solid but he's mostly a crafter these days. If you like to tank, DK is definitely a class that should be on the short list.

More recently I've been playing a Sorc. I started him out as a stamina build sorc-tank, but for the last few months he's been a magic build DPS. He's a trash mob killer and melts everything in his path. I always appreciated these guys when playing as a tank because they speed up the dungeon run significantly.

I started out as Stamina DK tank, but now I play all roles over multiple classes. Can't say I have a preference for one or another. Also some roles are more or less pleasant based on content. For example playing Stamina DK melee DD in vAS has been one of the most unpleasant experiences I've ever had in this game (lots of deaths, underwhelming DPS), but playing Magicka Sorcerer in the same content was much more satisfying (almost no deaths, +50% DPS).

    Magplar and Tank.

They don't synergize al lthat well with the meta, so it's more of a 'cleric' than a tank. Nothing like healing/tanknig a vet dugeon with 3 DPS burning everything down.

Haven't had much success on the harder dungeons, though. DK takes the cake there.

I'm currently enjoying my runs-real-fast Orc StamSorc. Made the character to harvest materials quickly but I'm finding that I enjoy playing the character in just about any situation. The ultra high movement speed is way more satisfying that I would have imagined and StamSorcs have a cool set of skills that they bring to the table.

Started my playthrough as an Orc MagSorc, had no clue about the game mechanics. Once I hit lvl 40ish I switched it to Stamina and started slowly converting from a DD to Tank. Once I tanked vetCow in vetBRF with the Warrior-Poet set and Thunderbugs, I was already in love with tanking in this game and started lvling a DK tank. Now after some months and being more knowledgeable of the game my main has become an Argonian MagDen in BGs and a tank in vetDungeons. Favourite weapon line is also SnB.

I like Nightblade, purely for the gameplay utility of cloak, but my preferred class would be more along the lines of elemental druid otherwise, were there such a thing (think Dragonknight raw power but with lightning and frost), and my preferred role is to be very survivable (so, tank) and otherwise utility and support oriented (I like builds that can solo, but I'd rather be an off healer than any kind of DPS any day of the week). So, basically, I like everything and want to be able to do everything.

While I experimented with Dragonknight in the beta way back when, since launch on PC my main has been a Nightblade, and over time he's gotten more specialized as a tank, usually with a few off heals. Because of the Summerset changes, as nice as they are to tanks, I think I may finally switch him to healer/DPS, purely for the changes to cloak (I want the utility of going invisible, but I want it defense oriented as a tank, which with Summerset they're making it one or the other). This all is of course completely avoiding the challenge of trying to be an optimized build while still having the utility I like for overworld exploration. Nightblades are not the best tanks according to the meta, even then. But even with a subpar cake I prefer to have my cake and eat it too.

I would deffinately revisit my sorc once summerset hits. With the addition of the silver leash morph and the new bound armaments its going to be very interesting.

    Nightblade.

I kinda learned to do all roles since I relloed every combo possible on the same character, stamblade, magblade, sap tank, healblade, gankblade and so on. My favorite was Sap Tank pre-Morrowind patch, but the nerf to siphoning attacks killed the playstyle. I still play tank so maybe that's can count as my prefered role. In PvP I play DD/Off Healer with Transmutation + DPS set.

Dragonknight Tank. Well over a years worth of actual play time.

Their tankiness and Crowd Control was too good to give up for other classes and being able to control and dictate the battlefield is my way to play. Do similar things in PvP too, love denying people areas or movements. Do the same on my Warden and Sorc tank.

Magplar. I don't have any other classes over level 25.

I've played templar in every roll and main spec. Very fun skills and animations

He was originally a recreation of my favorite Skyrim build. I made a nord mage who only was allowed to heal and damage with dragon shouts. I would choose a tanky damage dealing companion and run around doing nothing but stayin alive and healing him. Was actually much more difficult to play than it sounds. And very exhausting. Everything took forever to kill. Fun tho

As an altoholic, I cant pick just one.

For Ranged PVE DPS, I love my mageblade. Yes its meta, but once you get the hang of the class, it just feels right. Good movement, good surviability, and the only dynamic rotation that truly rewards skill.

For Melee PVE DPS, I love my stam sorc. Again, good mobility, great raw stats, and tons of AOE damage, even if the single target is not in first place. They also have great resource management and self heals if you are doing solo content like VMA. My first melee love was magic DK, if it does make a comeback next patch, I will certainly test the waters.

For PVP, I love my magic sorc. I have the most pvp hours on a magic sorc, with mDK in second, and stamblade in third. I love the range burst on magic sorc. Nothing feels better than lining up that perfect burst combo and watching your enemy turn to dust. I also like the resource management and mobility. The only real drawback is that shield stacking is not what it used to be when out numbered, and a good stamina player is very difficult to counter 1v1.

Nightblade is my favorite class by far but as for role, they all kind of suck IMO.

I typically like healing in MMOs but ESO makes it very boring; you're more a support DPS with some healing thrown in. Your whole job is either painfully dull because everyone is fully capable or painfully stressful because they're squishy, standing in stupid or something else that makes your life unnecessarily difficult.

Tanking I typically hate doing and while I have a DK, Warden and NB tank, the role has the same problem as Healers; Buff totem support with very little variety in decent sets/abilities just makes it meh for me and the typically low damage they deal doesn't help either (god I miss Sap Tanking :disappointed: )

Stamina is very restrictive in general. Only Warden is relatively different from the rest as it doesn't overly rely on weapon skills for its rotation because it has plenty of class abilities it can use without having to rely almost entirely on outside support to fill the gaps. Idk how StamDK does it with only 2 stamina morphs in their toolkits and some supportive Magic Skills like Molten Weapons to back it up. I still prefer my Stamblade as they do have some great stamina abilities but Stamina DPS in general are just copies of each other with a handful of skills thrown in to differentiate each other but not enough to make them feel unique.

Magic DPS is probably in the best spot in terms of diverse skills/sets/etc. only weapon variety is lacking. Fire and Lighting Staff and that's it. I mean, you can technically go SnB or Dual Wield but your sustain drops like a rock in water for it.

IDK, maybe I'm just being overly critical but roles in ESO are pretty bland when you think about it.

Yes, definitly. Obviously not the same thing as the original Sap Tank, but still better than live. The Strife nerfs will hurt though, it will cost pretty much the same as Sap Essence, while doing a lot less for us. Might not be worth the slot anymore to be honest... Replacing it with the new Dark Cloak seems the ideal.

EDIT: Obviously it needs more testing, I use Funnel Health, maybe Swallow Soul it's worth the slot. We will see.

I think my favorite right now is warden tank. I’ve always been partial to the idea of aqua-/cryomancy and since the ice-themed class tree is based around tanking, it’s the most effective way I can play the game in that style. Pus the playstyle itself is fun enough, and I’m definitely better at tanking in this game than the other roles. I’ve been playing warden tank seriously since late last year I think.

I also really like my magdk(s), though. My first vr16 character was a magdk when not tanking, so I’ve spent a LOT of time with that playstyle and still enjoy it. Don’t have as good of an estimate on time spent on these ones.
