I once tried to help out a lowbie on his bow la spamming build when he qued into my vet scalecaller, he called me an elitist and said that high end players are toxic. Some lowbies take build critism badly

Tbf, some higher levelled players lack the delivery when speaking to lower or newer players. If i had £1 for every time I've heard someone take it upon themselves to hand out advice, then sit there and scratch their head wondering why other players took their advice as condescending claptrap, I wouldn't be sat here typing this, i'd be on a Yacht, surrounded by a bevvy of beauties in the Mediterranean.

For every bit the "lowbie" lacks skill wise, some self important player lacks in self awareness. Always find it strange why some people can pass on advice and never ever encounter a hostile player, whilst other self proclaimed helpers get nothing but abuse. Many a times I've sat there irked listening to their awful delivery and I wasn't even the one getting the advice.

Empathy is a dying emotion.. People can no longer feel for others and talk to them like machines.. Its the biggest issue the human race is facing imo..

Yes this is probably a stupid post but for such a beautiful game why do people still have to hate, I may never understand.

When you don't have much that's really important to care about/get worked up over in your life, you have to focus that energy and criticism someplace.

When you are impatient and immature, you don't consider how your words affect others.

Put those together in an MMO where players are anonymous and shake until salty.

    In-game it's not too bad.
You get the unhelpful/immature responses in zone chat to people legitimate questions.
PVP can get the teabagging and "lol" comments.
Dungeons get people complaining about the other players (I do speak up when it comes to fake tanks or healers). I PUG all the time and I never offer unsolicited advice to individuals, I'll give pointers to the group about mechanics etc, but that's it. Never kicked someone (but will accept vote to kick if they are a fake tank or healer).
    Trials... All sunshine and rainbows!
Overall not as bad as a true F2p can be, but not as good as I found GW2 to be.

    The forum though...

So I am sure not one to judge people at all but during my short time period on this game I have definitely ran into quit a few people who talk crap on low levels they play with and I just don’t understand why they do so, if you have such a problem with people why stay in a group with them and not just leave? Yes this is probably a stupid post but for such a beautiful game why do people still have to hate, I may never understand.

It's funny when you're healing in a normal non-dlc dungeon, and low-level dps refuse to follow even the most simple mechanics. They stand in red and continuously run around at random like chickens with their heads cut off. Then they die repeatedly and call the healer trash.

I see you have met our elitist neckbeards. They dont like anyone that doesnt spend 12 hours on the game a day and doesnt take it as seriously as a heart attack. Because of their almost nonexistent real human contact, most of what humanizes them has been overwritten by the fact that they are a legend in their own mind and that being good at a video game will be the crowning achievement in their life.

    I typically just ignore them.

I played WoW for about 14 years, and that game and the players were fine for a long time. However, as time passed, a few years ago, Blizzard reduced the number of employees and it became noticeable in the support area. People got rude in-game, and then in chat, without negative results.

Eventually, there was a program you could get called Gear Score. It would evaluate everything you were wearing/using, and assign a numerical value to your gear. From then on, people looking for other players in chat would use that gearscore number as a minimum level of qualification they wanted you to have to join their pug/raid. Like: LF Healer xx raid, GS 875 or higher.

That program was heatedly discussed in the forum, and it got really ugly. And then in chat. I mean really ugly. And afterwards, it seems the playerbase never really recovered from that. When I left WoW last year, for good, the server I was on was a regular cesspool. Over time, it just got worse, and Blizzard never did a thing about it. Then, several years ago, they suddenly started this program where players put in a complaint about you, you would automatically get banned, immediately. Then you would have to contact a game master is you wanted to file an appeal, but by that time, the ban was already over. So, that was abused, and I don't know if they still have it, but that was poorly thought out.

This game, so far, is very nice. I don't raid, so I haven't seen anything bad, and I hope it stays that way.

Whoa. I didn't know something as simple as gear score would become so toxic! :open_mouth:

In ESO, the "requirements" so to speak tend to be based on either your CP or DPS. It's much more prevalent in raiding and also Vet Hard Mode of DLC dungeons. For the vast majority of ESO's content those things barely matter.

Something that people who never encounter rude people should know: You are blessed. Seriously, you have Radiant Apex Mount luck. The RNG of life favors you. And I think this is a good analogy, because if you won several Radiant Apex Mounts, wouldn't you think that it's normal and other people complaining about not winning them are just complaining over nothing, making it up, or not even opening crown crates? We only know what our own experiences are...unless we listen to other people and do not assume they are lying.

I have a friend who had never been maliciously mudballed or griefed in this game, and she was boggled at my and another friend's tales of being followed by mudballers or people who were angry about being duel-request-denied because that just wasn't real to her. I had the feeling she thought I was exaggerating. One day I tp'd to her to show her something, and some rando came out of the wayshrine and started mudballing me repeatedly for several minutes. She was flabbergasted. That *never* happens to her, she'd never seen it before, and so to her this was not a real thing that happened, until she saw it happen to me.

You may not run into rude people in the game, and that's GREAT for you, it really is, you have a rare and unique fortune. But do NOT assume it means that other people aren't encountering the worst dregs of human garbage in this game on a regular basis, because some people *do* have bad luck with the type of people they meet, and it colors their view of what the game community is made of. Be glad if that isn't your experience, but don't snort at others who claim differently. You haven't been them.

Some people take it too far but with that being said new vet content is not at all noob friendly.

At some point somebody has to tell people that 8k dps + squish is terrible and makes it a waste of everyones time to even try certain vet dungeons.

Hopefully after that they understand that for future refernce its kinda rude to que up as a damage dealer for vet dungeons in the acvitity finder until they invest some time in learning to play.

Theres a ocean of difference from being an elitist snob who expects everyone to speed run HM everything with no wipes and somebody saying "hey you might want to try this skills and armor sets" for the harder content

@Drdeath20 stuff like that is completely understandable I remember the other day I ha fro do one of my undaunted dungeon challenges and it was a vet dungeon and I did atleast try it to see and our other 2 players fled and the guy was nice to me and just told me being level 73 champ wasn’t high enough and I scared the others away and he even took the time to let me try the first part out just so I could see the difference in difficulty and then I just said thank you and I would leave the group and I wished him luck, I love finding people like that who would rather explain things to someone or talk to them about something then just yelling and talking about someone

Ive come across a ton of players like that. That was really nice of the guy. I generally give most groups 15 minutes and/or ~3 wipes. Usually after that ive had enough. No hate messages, ill just leave.

I feel that the 15 minute penalty in group finder is a double edged sword. Most people dont have hours to play and if they drop into 2 or 3 soft groups on hard vet content is a huge time suck. About an hour and 0 dungeons completed
