Yeah I'm having the exact same problem. Already happened in the beta. Running on a 2x Xeon e-2650, 32GB DDR3 and GTX 780ti
  • RoswellCrash
Hopefully it's an issue to be resolved.

    I'm running 2x Xeon X5650, 12GB DDRs and 2x GTX 580's
I've just completely uninstalled the game and I'm currently re-downloading it, it's a bit annoying, but still playable.

I experienced this in Beta and it is still prevalent as well. I have two systems, one has the problem the other does not. Also the purple textures randomly change on my setup and they mostly do not affect my character, so I can be looking at a NPC or another player and their face is purple, spin away and look at them again and they might be full color again. I can also log out and back in and everyone that was purple now is full color.

System 1 - that has the issue
    Dual Xeon 2.4 E5645, Dual Quadro 5000's/SLI 334.95 Drivers, 96GB Ram

System 2 - Does not have any purple textures
    Dual Xeon 3.1 E5-2687W, Dual Quadro K5000's/SLI 334.95 Drivers, 128GB Ram

I have uninstalled the game, wiped the directory and re-installed. I can't find a fix for it and not sure were to look as it can be random on what gets changed to purple.

Drakzon, exactly my issue too, we all have more than ample hardware requirements.

Hopefully something can be done soon.

I didn't get any answers when I posted in Beta, I don't think it is a big rush for them to look into, just my feeling on it.

I did find two other threads on it.

Maybe try an older set of drivers and see if that helps? I know, it's a crappy suggestion, but maybe that'll work as a temporary fix..?

I'm not at home right now, so I can't check on one of the systems I used it beta. But, I also have a dual Xeon system I use as my workstation and I haven't upgraded the Nvidia drivers in several months and I didn't have this issue in beta.

Just an interjection, Looking at this thread and the ones @Drakzon‌ linked, the common link to this problem seems to be Xeon processors. Maybe I overlooked something, but that's what I saw.

From my own experience, I know there was a while (haven't tried in a long time) where a particular series of the AMD processors caused similar issues in Mass Effect 1. It is entirely possibly that the issue is related to the processors. It's highly unlikely they optimized anything for server/workstation processors.

As a side note, from all the benchmark tests I've seen, comparisons, and random articles. Xeon/server processors are not in the least designed for gaming. Yes they are designed to push large amounts of data, encryption, network packets, ect. But their core logic is designed to be geared towards those things specifically, not processing AI commands, passing graphics to the GPU, and other functions related to game processing.

In a similar manor, graphics cards like the Quatro are not designed to process game graphics. They are specifically designed to handle vector images, not rastor (png, bmp, jpeg, ect).

Now does this mean that they CAN'T handle it, certainly not. It just means they're not designed for it, the drivers won't be designed for it, and they won't handle it as well as a GPU/CPU that is designed for it. It would be like trying to trying to go off-roading in a Civic with street tires.
And so did many brave men, women, and beast fall to the end of Beta, never to be heard from again. All that is left, is whispers of the adventures they had.

Might try disabling one of the CPU's tonight see if it improves, if so I hope they fix this soon it's clearly an issue they can resolve with a bit of support.

Has anyone found a fix? I am running a slightly older pc (Asus M4A79T Deluxe with AMD Phenom II x4 810) with a newer video card (EVGA Nvidia 650Ti Boost) and i had these purple textures during the first beta but they were gone in the more recent betas, and they have returned with live, my drivers are all up to date, and i've tried the different changes people have posted here on the forums but none have worked.

I just got home and checked my drivers. Apparently, they are older than I thought. They are from the February 2013 time frame: 314.07

I had this happen once where many, many, many textures were missing and replaced by the pink placeholder and the only thing that fixed it was to completely wipe ESO and reinstall it ...
    :(

Lamprey, tried drivers back to 320, the ones you are running are quite old but will try them tomorrow to see if it cures the issue.

SirAndy, I have done that as well but it did not correct the issue.

My bios allows me to disable the 2nd CPU, and unfortunately it worked. I no longer have purple textures while playing. I don't know why this computer has an issue and my other does not unless it is related to the chipset.

So my fix is to reboot, disable the 2nd CPU and reboot and enable when I am done playing. :(

Looks like you guys downloaded the Prince and the new power generation version of the game.

This is the only fix I know.

MsConfig>Boot>Advanced Options>[check box] number of processors>[select value] 16 (or less)

Games runs fine with 16 or less cores.

Roswell, Not sure that is what the issue is either. The system that I have never had an issue with has 32 cores. Disabling the 2nd CPU in the bios is the only way I can get it to work on the 24 core machine but I plan on trying your MsConfig way when I get home tonight, maybe I can set it up for a dual boot config instead of always going to the bios to swap it out.

Just an update, MsConfig and setting it to 16 cores worked great, no purple textures and a much better performance swing than disabling the 2nd CPU. I ran all night at a solid 60 FPS on Ultra High settings.
