Bunny, do you play on PC/NA? If you do, what is your @ name? I didn't sell the dang thing, but I feel bad you got scammed.

I'll gladly eat some of the loss if it helps you feel better.

isnt this basically scam then cant i get my gold back, theres nothing said about you not being able to use them

Email support. They will restore gold in some cases (not sure if they will in this case, but it's worth a shot). This is partly ZOS' fault as expired items shouldn't be sellable.

Just note that the first response you get will usually be automated. Reply to it (even if it says they can't restore the gold) to get a human response.

    WHAT? YOU CANT BE SERIOUS

I'm afraid so, you can get the vouchers from the crown store for free during the event, they will start the quest.
They don't work outside the event.

The real question though, why the heck are they sell-able?
This scam could have been easily prevented by not letting people sell them.
    dry.gif

The ones from the second anniversary weren't bound, so you could trade them if you wanted. Not that there was much point. The third anniversary vouchers were BoP.

I've met a lot of really nice people playing ESO. Hope you don't let this ruin your experience. I agree with others that things like this should be BoP if the tooltip/description doesn't mention date ranges for use.

Technically not worthless. There's no utility with the item, but there is a small market for items that are no longer possible to obtain, like level 50 versions of the Companion's weapons, old ingredients, non-grand soulgems, or BoE Viper and Ebon pieces.

it's a scam if it's sold with deceiving info you'll get extra xp gain...and selling it for almost 100k.

It's a scam... I'd report such a player to a guildmaster...or call them out on such a thing..

Such practices hurt especially new and inexperienced players!

    Ughh :(

I am serious, actually, you know :) No one's paying you..it's justice, you see. I hate when people get scammed like this..I just am like this.

Like you said, it's just in-game-currency...but it's more pleasant to spend it on motifs, houses, or gear than being scammed and robbed. Especially, if you were saving those gold.

These things, like the last year's cake, should not be sold once the event ends OR the description of those items should automatically change.

So, if you're on PC/NA message me. My eso id is same as here. @duendology

And yes, tomorrow starts Jester festival.. and after that the anniversary (of eso being published) with the cake and extra 100% xp gain. :)

bought a non BOP belt from the hircines set... no joke, I actually had to look twice when I saw it in the guild store... it was cheap too.

Hmm, is there a market for the "other soul gems"? I should have a bunch in the bank :)

I just found a purple BOE worm cult ring on an alt I dont play much (clearly) and put it in a trader last night. No idea if it will sell, but there is some cool stuff sitting forgotten out there.

ZOS definitely needs to be careful about what can be sold, but at the same time, there are people that like weird stuff like this. In ZOS's and the sellers's defense, if 100k is a lot of gold to you (it's not to a lot of us), you should be sure about what you are buying when you spend it.

I appreciate you putting up for sale non BOP dungeon stuffs.. sometimes, players just don't want to have to deal with RNG. I wish all the dungeon stuffs were BOE.

Yeah, ZOS should not have allowed the cake to be sold... all the same, at that price, don;t you research first?

My thoughts exactly. For me, I have like 4 or 5 bound versions of the ring, so I figured I might as well list it for 6 figures and see what happens (PC/NA, ETU in reapers march in case anyone is looking). I didnt even know I had the thing until yesterday, so no great loss. I have been trying to do some long overdue housekeeping. I wouldnt pay for something like that, but there are some rich PVPers that might. haha.

Basically, you can still use the cake memento as a cake memento, but as you noticed, it doesn't give double XP outside of the event it's associated with. There's a pie that's the same thing, as I recall. Don't buy the pie, either.

Completionist? By buying a "cake" from the anniversary event one did not participate in?
Now THAT'S a whole new level of "completionism". lol
And in case you bring up other mementos, the difference between the cake (somewhat saying one actually participated in the said event) and other mementos is that other mementos do not promise to give you 100xp bonus and are not... "vouchers".

Also, I wouldn't consider the jubilee cake just a memento..

And it is a scam IF the description of the item is not changed when the time event is closed.
Like many people said here.. ZOS should not allow of selling such items...or allow them to be sold with the description changed to NOT MISLEAD new and inexperienced players.
