You probably bought preorder version.

No, preorders don't work that way. You just get the game and the preorder bonuses are in a one use code on your receipt. This is to prevent preorder bonuses from being transferred between other people. My copy just came with the Explorer's Pack, which contains Any Race Any Faction as part of the bundle.

From a store? It just has "Includes Explorer's Pack" right on the case. Bought it new, well over a year after initial release.

Then it was likely long after ZOS realized that the faction war was dumb.

I certainly wouldn't be mad. I never bought it as the alliances never really mattered to me. I always felt that having any race in any alliance was more for the min/maxers of PVP that wanted to be in the same alliance as friends but with a race from a different alliance. Tho I suspect there are those who like to roleplay which would welcome being able to choose any race with any alliance.

But if they are going to throw Any Race, Any Alliance into the base game, they might as well include the Imperial race sans bonuses (mount etc).

Yeah I intended it to be optional. A "loyalty package" available on the crown store but once per account.

I would suggest they could give some tiny reward to those of us who paid for it, though!

I mean, they don't have to... And I'm not sure they would, but it's till something that would be good to see.

Honestly, there are a few things in the crown store which would do well as freebies - Imperial, Any Race Any Alliance, Pledge of Mara (Shifted over to In Game gold?)... They could all be nice features.

...They could also give away a free Merchant and a free Banker at certain Vet Levels or for certain Quests too...
...As long as my Merchant gets to repair my gear and my Banker gets to allow me to access my guild.

I'd also pay for a Smuggler upgrade for laundering and less profit taken.. Dirty cute khajiit sneakthief.. She'd rob me blind if I ever used her kitty butt.

Or if they really make it free someday, then they better give me my 1500 crowns back and I keep the pet, or take away the pet too (I don't use it anyway) and give me 1900 crowns back

I got any-race-any-alliance as a preorder bonus on my main account, and I bought it later for my 2nd & 3rd accounts. I would be perfectly fine if they made it free for everyone. I see no legitimate reason to be upset if they made this change.

More quality of life improvements for new players may turn them into long term players.

Long term players means more potential income for ZOS.

More income keeps server on longer, lets me play longer.
