    People of all ages play this game. Some parents may prefer that their kid doesnt read about certain apendages that people decide to throw out in zone chat. Turn if off in options.

    Some body told me that they reported me for calling them something (in game).
    Not sure why this person didn't have their filter turned on. They wouldn't have read it otherwise.

    Well, the fact that "style" is censored can sometime be a bother when you craft for someone.
    I mean, even if that word is part of a sexual position, how can it be censored when it"s such an important part of the game ..

    Don't remove the filter if you don't want to, but at least, correct it..

    I have to say the OP has seemed to find a stance for some common ground...a few posters whom I often disagree with their views...I find myself agreeing with totally.

    Oh I forgot I should be policing everything I do because the M 17+ rated game I bought. There's teen games for a reason and if someone younger plays I have no problem with it but it is not the job of the players/game to do the job of the parents.

    Again I get it's not a hard turn off but, It doesn't work in the first place

    Either
    1) update it so it doesn't censor blanket letters and works like it should
    2) Get rid of it, there's plenty of ways to get past it AND, it censors useful words more than I've ever seen it filter out profanity

    I've noticed that zone chat becomes very quiet when I have the profanity filter turned on (in Cyrodiil)

    Belated, but it's kind of annoying to make a new toon only to have half the chat censored - and then when I ask what was said it was completely harmless. I don't have a problem with profanity filters, but the one in game is just *bad*. It catches far too many things unecessarily, so if someone *did* want to use it, they'd find a lot censored that shouldn't be.
    PC/NA: Primarily Daggerfall Covenant.

      Haha. This thread actually made me think - how about advanced options. Guild profanity on, group profanity light to medium, map chat profanity off, trade chat profanity compulsory ... or was that PvP ... help me here... lol.

      With the system in place to have it on as a default suits me fine, I never found it inconvenient even if I turn it off on occasion - more to avoid the odd glitches than to actually listen to the creative (or not) profanity out there.

      I don't know if they ever considered that some words they might want to block are actually *in* other words that aren't bad.

      If that doesn't go through, try therapy minus the y, plus eutic.

      HAHAHA! No idea! There's even a space between the R and M so I was caught off guard as to why it censored it still. So whenever I see the "Whi*****e" in area chart, I know it means "Whisper Me". :D

        Sorry, not a valid reason. If a parent is buying this for their children then they should know the consequences of playing an internet only game with random people. Police your own kids not me. Also if you've ever seen a zone chat there's tons of stuff that gets talked about in there that would never get filtered by that.

        "Snowflake world"? If you can't control your anger and profanity in a forum, you likely have bigger issues...like growing up. You can swear with your friends, you can even swear in the game (and turn off the filter). You may need help.

        Reading comprehension is hard. I want to be able to see the profanity so I know what people are saying in the forums without having to use guesswork. "Bad" words don't affect me because I'm not a whelp that needs to be protected from such things.
