Yeah this has long been one of the issues with it. It seems to look for keywords regardless of their placement within any other letters.ZOS_Edward
A problem I am seeing with the profanity filter right now is that it censores too many things unnecessarily.
Sure, you can turn it off, but suppose you want it on. If you play on EU and speak let's say German you actually have to work around things that trigger the English profanity filter that just happen to appear in German sentenses. Without trying I am almost certain that the spanish word for black can't even be written because of the English filter.
It is too strict to the point that people who would prefer it being on, turn it off anyway as it just disturbs the flow of a conversation. I would like the option of having a selection of multiple language based profanity filters for at least the main languages of the game (English, German, French and Japanese?).

For example today a friend informed me freestyle is filtered because part of the wording is slang for a sex position. However the very common British insult beginning with W works fine. The list needs to be reviewed and fixed with considerations for language and not filter partial words due to some of the word being an term on the list.

Why? You haven’t really given us a reason why you want it gone.

Including the forums? If so, I can't find it. In our increasingly PC snowflake world, I have grown tired of the constant snowflake-protecting rules on the forums I visit. I do not need a profanity filter and would like to have mine removed.
I was referring to the game itself.
The forums have rules against profanity and attempting to work-around the profanity filter. We will continue to enforce those. There are plenty of other places you can have that type of conversation other than here.
Believe it or not, some people are bothered by bad language and don't want to see it.
I don't really buy that it's too much of a chore for you to spend a couple of seconds changing one little setting on a new character. Especially as you're probably changing other things to set everything up how you want it anyway.
So the way I see it, the only real reason you'd want it removed would be so that you could swear at people without them being able to avoid it.
I guess it takes the fun out of calling people names if they can't see it.

It is actually quite funny to see what the game sees as "profanity" and leaves you wondering how exactly that could be even remotely fall under the category of "bad" words.

I have 13 max level character and I have deleted more max level toons in the past and having to turn the filter off has never been a problem. Taking 3 second to click settings and click turn off profanity filter isn't going to kill you. If you want an easy way to not have to deal with it then either don't make any new characters or stop playing. It's not that hard to fix it or turn it off

Would it not be reasonable to make settings account wide?Surely this is not the only setting.
