Got my Khajiit to level 20 last night. Got my free crown crate. Had purchased a few of the flame crates before, was kinda holding out hope for a different version of the rebreather, maybe some more gems. Nothing too special. I mean its a free crate, no harm no foul.
Pacrooti appears before me, his devilish grin burning into my soul. He throws out my cards and one erupts with flames behind it. "Huh", I think to myself. as I said I had grabbed some flame crates before, but don't remember that animation playing. To my complete and utter surprise...

Imagine my surprise. It's the Guar too, literally the one flame mount I thought was the coolest of the set. So my question for you: Do you remember the events surrounding you getting your first Apex? Which one was it? And which season? If you haven't gotten one yet, which one do you froth at the mouth for?

I think the wild hunt and lightning mounts looked nice. But the others less so. Dwarven ones looked goofy, skeleton ones were ugly and fire ones look like melted cheese. (Would've been nice if they were transparent fire effect, like from skyrim or similar to storm atro mounts.)MagDK main. PC/EU @AK-ESO

They're all too shiny for my taste. I just prefer the Senche type mounts since those are simple but exotic at the same time. Pity that the horse models are kinda ugly and that Wolves have a broomstick for a tail.@ Izaki #PCEU

But that's okay, because all 54 were free crates (18 crates per account, per server, for 72 free crates across NA and EU on my two accounts... I left the 18 free crates on the EU side of my secondary account unopened, so that's 54 that I opened). Never bought a crate, and seeing these kinds of drop rates, I most likely never will.

Mauin✭✭✭✭My first Apex was the Wild Hunt Guar. There were somethings in those crates I wanted on my second account, so I bought it some Crowns. I was not expecting to get that Guar, and I was mildly annoyed that I hadn't gotten it on my main account. But, oh well. My main account has something like 4 Apex mounts now. I typically buy at least one of the largest packs of Crates per season and I've had 2 Apex mounts drop from that (Skeletal Wolf and Flame Atronach Senche). I bought one, the Skeletal Guar, with gems. The fourth, a Flame Atronach Wolf, I got from the last bunch of free Crates.PC NA CP 1900+

✭✭✭✭I've never won an apex mount from a crown crate. I have two though, both bought with gems, which might give you some idea of how many crates I've bought. The first one I bought was the skeletal horse, the second the flame antronach senche. I'm really pleased with both of them, but the flame senche is my favourite out of the two.PC EU0 -

✭✭Fire guar and I was sad. I wished I could give it to someone who'd appreciate it. I won't/don't use it. I can understand why they are bound but it's a shame that so many folks want these mounts and I don't like them.

Marginis✭✭✭✭✭First crown crate ever. Storm crates. Storm senche. Lucky as hell. Pretty much stopped at that, said, y'know what? I don't like crates, but they're not that bad.
Then the next season came out. Then the next one. The super apex rewards killed me. Only one I ever got was the sweetroll. So much wasted money on crates. So much wasted. Would have loved to spend money on a lot of the rewards if they were available in the crown store and not RNG-based. But now they've left such a sour taste in my mouth. I was going to have every single senche mount in the game, until I ran out of money trying to get the super rare apex rewards you can only obtain via RNG, and can't even try to get with crown gems.
Sorry, I'm still just super salty. Well, super salty and legitimately saddened by the fact that ESO has loot boxes. I sincerely wish that ZOS would have tried harder to stay above that.
I would love my storm senche were it not for what it reminds me of.

Orticia✭✭✭✭I didn't get a apex mount though I could have and doubted if I should (fire atro horse). I got something better. One of those cake things that gives you enough gems to buy one. Decided to spend it on outfits and pets though as in the end that made me happier then just one cool horsey.1

Anyway I never buy crown crates. All my ESO+ bucks get spent on minor cosmetics or mount training/crafting research. Except one time, where I logged in for the first time in about 3 months. I had a bunch of crowns to spend.

Due to my unfortunate need for the Dro-m'Athra cub, I bought a bunch of Dwemer crates, and eventually got the Adamant Dwarven horse, which I still do not want... With the free Flame Atro crates, I got the Guar, which actually looks really cool, so I'm happy to use and keep that one."Best" healer PC/NA1
