Why no weapon dyeing without outfit system?

Why can't we dye our weapons without using an outfit slot (like we can dye our shield).

The problem is many of my characters have multiple weapon setups. For example my warden has a PVP setup that is 1H+S / 2H. A DPS setup that is Bow/Bow, and a tank setup that is 1H+S / Ice Staff.

I would have have to have 3 outfit slots just to dye those weapons. Seeing how it costs $150 to unlock a 2nd slot for 15 characters, and another $150 for a 3rd slot if needed, it's just ridiculous.

Well this just keeps getting worse, I would have thought it was a simple dye slot that you could use the dyes that you’ve unlocked if so no thanks
    Aussie lag is real!

No weapon dyes without outfits because someone thought they could market the $4 "outfit change token". If this is how they want to play then fine, I'll take the gold-only option for everything.

I'm actually exceedingly surprised. They had a perfectly-functional monetization model for cosmetics up to this point. It was all one-and-done big up-front expenses, and then you were free to play with it forever. That's been the case for skins, jewelry, body markings, hairstyles, costumes, mounts, pets, personalities, and everything. But now they want to *** around with a per-use expense model? No, *** that.

You can apply a dye to the weapon slot without changing the style of the weapon. Then it'll apply no matter what weapon you use.

For example, if you don't like red weapons, you can dye all three slots "rank 1 materials" and your weapons will be iron-colored.

the issue is that dyeing weapons is ONLY a part of the outfit system

Agree, they made it much more complicated than it could be :/ Paying just to dye a weapon...
For example my warden has a PVP setup that is 1H+S / 2H. A DPS setup that is Bow/Bow, and a tank setup that is 1H+S / Ice Staff

But even though simply adding color to weapons will count as outfit, you actually can save styles and colors for all weapon types within one outfit. I was very worried about it too. For example, using only your free outfit slot, you can equip and dye each weapon type you will use; select style and color; be sure to save each of them. I've tried it: my free outfit slot has saved my chosen styles and colors for all these: 2h, dual wield, bow and - for fun - staff :) I can equip any type of those weapons any time and their appearance changes accordingly.

I feel like there was an internal compromise on the debate by making weapon dyeing an available feature instead of a core feature. So like the Outfit system as a whole, you can spend as much as you want on it to customize, but turned off it does nothing to affect the most basic gear rules.
