I know this is a game but for the same reason you can't advertise cigarettes on tv here in America lets also not encourage smoking in game.
And before people laugh about it just being a game, keep in mind the amount of people who lost loved ones in REAL life to smoking related diseases...

Its up to people to educate their younger kids about the dangers inherent to smoking.... not stick our heads in the sand and pretend it doesn't exist. By ignoring the issue and pretending that it isn't there all you are doing is creating curiosity and inadvertently encouraging your children to try it.
Your reference to not allowing advertising in North America for things like alcohol and tobacco is one of the causes why it is used so much by young people. Look at Europe where they don't have the same level of problems around teenage alcohol drug abuse and they don't have the same advertising laws. You can explain to the children watching (at YOUR home, they aren't in the game) how its almost as dangerous to the polygon body as other things in the game like walking on lava, the blade of woe (sound effects especially), summoning Daedra, human sacrifice, and grunting out heavy attacks that kill someone without even denting the armor they have on. People laugh at death all the time in game, especially after dying.
The mature rating also carries with it some responsibility. Its your choice as the user when its appropriate to play this game that forewarns you there is adult content present.

All of those things add pollution to the air which causes more cancer and sickness than any cigarettes can.
Also...there isn't one actual case of second hand smoke causing cancer..if you truly look at the da6a..it's only PRESUMED and not hard data. There are plenty of counter studies to show second hand smoke as harmless and the likely cause of the lung cancer is pollution..seeing as many people get lung cancer who are never around smokers.

Cancer is not the only sickness caused by smoking, darling. There's pulmonary emphysema, air tract infections, asthma flare-ups, cardiovascular diseases, low birth weight in newborns, just to mention some.
