Considering that there are pipes in the game already, I don't know why we can't use them




EDIT: Found it! I knew I had another pic with a different example!

This one is somewhere in Eastmarch, I think... inside one of the quest locations, I believe.

Yeah, lets encourage all the younger kids who play the game to smoke tobacco or maryjane or dope or whatever the imagination can come up with. I know this is a game but for the same reason you can't advertise cigarettes on tv here in America lets also not encourage smoking in game.

And before people laugh about it just being a game, keep in mind the amount of people who lost loved ones in REAL life to smoking related diseases...

I don't have anything against it per say. Thing is, giving players the option to smoke is a major taboo. Legitimately or otherwise. Even if you've got a game where people smoke, it's incredibly rare that the player's character does.

Off hand, I can only think of one MMO that allowed the player to smoke (The Secret World, and it's reboot/relaunch), and a handful of games. (I suspect LotRO does as well, but I've never played it.)

Giving players the option to smoke is a fantastic way to get people crawling out of the woodwork bawling about, "think of the children." Even in M rated games.

Amusingly, they initially shot some of the early scenes with Ian McKellen compulsively snacking on something, (toffee I think,) and they were running with this entire idea of Gandalf having just given up smoking. As I recall, the issue was his dialog was so baddy garbled by the toffee, they had to loop it all, and ended up just going back to the smoking from the books. The DVD commentary tracks specifically cite the changing social perspectives on smoking between the books' publication, and the current climate as the reasoning.

So we ban horses for those who have lost loved ones to horse riding incidents?
Or fire, Ice, shock.
Get rid of that sun in the sky!
Many have lost loved ones to skin cancer.
Trees too and rocks.
Will have to completely re-write the quests where you're given psychedelic substances.

We ALL know smoking is a million times worse then everything you mentioned combined. The pain people suffer from all smoking diseases whether done to themselves or done to an innocent child just because they were in the car when the parents smoked is immeasurable.

You really want to bring some really stupid comparisons into it? Bringing something into the game that has caused so much pain to people through the years would be a huge disservice to everyone who plays.

Now if you would like to try again go ahead, but lets stick to similar arguments and not apples to oranges.
