I haven't actually, since the combat even looks boring, I'd doubt it even fun to play with.
For other MMOs developed during the sme time ESO fares well . An active dodge and block system with breakfree from cc (when it works lol) . So many games do not have these simple additions we enjoy . New games have more stylized combat , BDO for instance . Sure the animations are always better on newer games but ESO has a more fluid system with its counterplay . BDO has no real cc break . Eso has most everything needed to feel engaging , including interupts .
But it feels much worse to hit a sword, or mace compare to BDO. If I'm on BDO forum, I'd make a thread about how BDO should have cc break. But now I'm on ESO forum, so I'd love to see some change to the combat animation
Ya of course but like I said before ESO can not handle anymore graphically . Devs are trying to reduce what we see because of lag .BDO is very beautiful combat but node wars lag insane . Pop up graphics everywhere in combat . Here there is more graphics stability . Which is much more important when fighting other players .
Where did I say "there is no permanent end-game player-base"? No seriously, where is it? I'd love to know if I messed it up, or did I make it confusing to readers.
My original response was directed at someone else, not you. @Wifeaggro13 was quoted and for some reason you replied to it. I'll correct my last response, but I honestly don't even know why you replied to me when I was taking issue with another person's quote.
Do you want something more like this?https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XlRmU7yfW0I

(would be a nifty way to sneak in additional animations!)
Id say as with anything there's always room for improvement... But when I compare this games combat to other mmos with magic/melee weapons this game is leagues ahead.
Just for curiosity, but which MMO are you comparing ESO to?
And to be honest, if you enjoy ESO, good for you mate. I'm just curious, that's all
Can combat in ESO be improved? Sure.
Is it at levels OP want us to believe?
No it is not nearly as bad and idk why would anyone play a mmorpg where they find combat badly designed. Suggestion to OP: If ESO combat is below ur standards, go play something else.
deepseamk20b14_ESO wrote: »I can see some of your points. One difference between this game and many other is this isnt a tab targeting game. Yes you can tab target but not in the normal MMO sense where you tab target and can literally be facing the opposite direction while running away and still hit the person. Those games look fluid because they just play an animation without having to really worry about doing a lot of checks especially not having to worry about a hit box. You can even cast a skill and go out of range but as long as you cast it prior to it goes off. Obviously that doesn’t really happen in ESO as much. Also LoS isn’t as big of an issue in other games.
I’m sure there are a few other action combat MMOs out there that don’t do that and maybe do combat better than ESO, I just haven’t played them. But I came to ESO from FFXIV and gave BnS a try for a few months and combat in those games were easier and a bit boring (especially FFXIV). People think rotations in this game are monotonous, play one of those games lol.
I dont think its that bad.
Its WAY better then any single player ES game overall. Maybe theres no spellcrafting fun but besides that its way better.
Its still better then many MMO's cause there just haven't been that many good mmo's since this game came out. And WoW era combat doesn't work anymore. I can still live with the graphics, there good enough still and that cartoony style is a bit more timeless, but the combat is horrid.
ESO's combat is a big plus for me actually. I really love the fluidity of it that comes from having no ability cooldowns aside from the GCD, and only being able to have 5 abilities on two bars. With most other MMO's that I've played, you typically have to deal with varied ability cooldowns and then by end-game having dozens and dozens of abilities to use all the time, which is very cumbersome.
Plus block/sprint/dodge/interrupt all being built into the game instead of abilities is always nice.
Oh yeah, and being able to target things by looking at them instead of having to click tab to change the target every time you want to fight something different.
The issue about creating a poll like this is being embarrassed with how few actually ageee with you. Only 15% basically agree with OP at this point. Granted, OP seems to want so to be more like BDO based on a comment he made which probably sums things up.

You misspelled better. Most MMOs have archaic combat systems, nobody is as good as ESO.

Try playing ffxiv. Number one mmo of 2017, yet the combat is a snooze. There are no layers, everything has a global cooldown and a multi second channel time and the effects are nowhere near as well done. Yes it's a classic mmo and a game that's older than eso, but it's also higher rated. The only challenge in that game in my opinion is healing because you need to start channeling a life saving heal two hours before the target takes damage.
Really, eso is in the top 3 for the top MMORPG mmos for 2017 for both combat feel and visuals in my books (im not comparing to games like fortnite or destiny 2 due to them being different combat) The combat is very interactive and has a complex system that is fun to learn.
In short im willing to put up with the odd swing of my axe that doesn't perfectly pierce a targets skin in exchange for the depth (interrupts, blocks, roll dodge, ground AOEs, target dots, shields, evasion) and beauty that eso offers.
My only gripe with eso is smart heal. But it's something I've learned to live with.
