Well...
I have six characters...
One is the primary crafter, she does literally everything, Alchemy, Enchanting, Armour, Weapons, Provisioning...
The other characters sell literally everything with a gold value on it - and with maxed out Packs on each, the money can build up pretty fast. Raiding chests is a good way too. As is fencing stolen stuff - esp. if you've maxed out the amount of items you can fence.
Another good way is to sell full soul gems - 100 @ 30G will get you 3k. So start filling up those empty soul gems you find in chests etc.

Makes me sad.. If not for that, I'd be poor and happy!
I also guess that the poor half aren't in a trade guild so can't sell stuff and would benefit massively from a global auction house. I'm also guessing that the poor half mostly PVP and he rich half mostly PVE (I kind of class doing writs, farming mats/fishing etc. as PVE)?
Would be interesting to see the demographics of the kind of player with cash vs the kind of player with none.

I became a millionaire on EU (not my home server) without joining a trade guild. Nor did I sell via zone chat--my participation in the player-to-player economy on EU is solely as a buyer--I do not sell.

Factor in I play 6 characters at least and constantly change builds and ***, well that leaves me with feck all, plus when im not in Cyro i run around farming matts and pick up everything up but hardly ever get anything good.
Someone above posted they have 370 Kuta lol Ive never had more than 6 and Ive played since Beta.
Looking at everything I do I can see why I'm skint though if I just played 1 character and stuck to 1 build and only updated when a major update came out I too would be swimming in the stuff0 -

I farm a lot of raw mats, especially max level materials and reagents. However, the best way to get rich and keep it is to not spend money on gold sinks like motifs and houses. I'd probably have two or three the gold I have now if I didn't keep spending money on motifs and houses.1 -
