Wait... I mentioned earlier that I use Moltern Whip not Power lash... because I made the character just before morrowind and had already picked a morph and didn't realise I apparently required lash to be any use.

How do I sustain?.... Heavy attack every second rotation and witchmothers brew.

Although to be fair I don't do enough dps to get into vet trails. :( but I have enough for everything else. Err its close for Vet DLC dungeons.

PTS PATCH NOTES I just leave this here:

    'Heavy Attacks & Off Balance
Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy will now only consume the Off Balance debuff if the enemy is successfully stunned.
This means that using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance boss enemy will not consume the Off Balance effect, as bosses are immune to crowd control effects.
This new behavior also applies to the Power Lash ability. You can use Power Lash on an enemy until the Off Balance effect expires or is consumed.
Using a Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy player character will now stun them, in the same way that it stuns monsters.
This new behavior also applies to the Power Lash ability. You can use Power Lash to stun enemy Players.
Using a fully-charged Heavy Attack against an Off Balance enemy will now restore double the amount of resources.
Boss enemies can only be set Off Balance once every 15 to 20 seconds. After the first Off Balance debuff ends on a boss enemy, they will be immune to subsequent Off Balance debuffs until this immunity duration is over.
The Off Balance visual effects are now larger and more prominent if the enemy has a larger model size.

Reason is simple, ZoS hates Mag DKs. It's been like this since launch.

I just wish they would add a class change feature if they are just going to continually butcher a class that is already in a terrible state.

    @Stamden

Um.... Magic DKs were essentially gods in PVP and far and away the best DPS class for basically the first two years of the game. Again, I agree they currently have some issues, but at least stick to the facts. The reason they have been hit so hard with the nerf hammer is because they really were that far ahead of every other class for a LONG time. Of course, ZOS didnt handle it very well, but acting like ZOS hated them since launch just makes you sound silly.

Two years is far exaggeration. Once they removed Vamp DKs (reducing the ult cost to 40 w/ battle roar), DKs were fine then. But then they overdid it hard. Our sustain got gutted, inferno AoE removed, talons ranged was halved, skill costs went up, standard got nerfed like 10 different times, etc..

DKs have been suffering ever since.

Hmmm... Something doesn't add up there.

Leave that there and what, act like I didn't read it before posting. Read the line that says 15-20 second cooldown.

I would like it if people left their class warfare comments out of the discussion altogether. I have max level toons in all classes for both stamina and magicka and ZoS has adjusted *all of them* negatively in some way or another. The problem is Magicka DKs have some things that need to be fixed to make them competitive in end game PvE. Templars should hopefully get Sweep and Radiant Destruction fixed this patch which just leaves Magicka DK in the doghouse currently.

My favorite for DPS was Magicka DK, but the nerfs to sustain in Morrowind made it so we have to use Flame Lash to have any sustain, so we complained that our class was dependent on Off Balance. Of course ZOS decides that a nerf to off balance will make things better, because "hey, now your procs don't consume off-balance anymore."

Anyway, I would like to see a buff to Battle Roar magic return or a magicka skill cost reduction to compensate for the loss in sustain if the intention is for off balance to only be up ~26% of the time.

Unless something changes for the better I think it is time to dust off the old Magicka Templar and give her a shot again...

What tripe. MagDK + Dunmer was by far and away the best combination at one point in this game. So nah, it hasn't been that way since launch.

MagDK was long the best DPS and PvP gods until 1.6. Then they took a year long rip. Became good again with OP desert rose meta. And back to eh after the nerf, and became pretty awful with sustain changes and foss nerf.

Yeah this is pretty much how it was. Initially amazing, then nerfed into the ground and borderline unplayable, then Desert Rose made them somewhat playable again, and then that got nerfed aswell. So here we are today,.
