Wands

This has probably been said before, but I want to bring it back up.

Can we get wands - One handed resto/destro staves - that do less damage and each only get 50% enchantment buffs, but allow us casters to get 5/5/2 set bonuses, instead of 5/4/2. Please? All I'm asking for is the equivalent of daggers for casters.

It has been said hundred and hundreds of times before. Many people on the forums are strongly in favour of the idea and the theory-crafting options would be amazing. Like all cool ideas there are people who don't want it added.

For context, I believe that dual wield and 1 hand and shield were given the extra weapon set slot because they are in melee range and more at risk than characters that stand back and cast. Two-hander is the exception, but it's skills used to be the easiest source of healing and stamina damage shields. If 1 handed wands only worked at melee range then only templar and dks would use them, if they work at normal range or without some penalty then I wonder if anyone would ever run 2handed staves if the 1 handed wands were available.

At the moment magicka builds and stamina builds are not well balanced, so magicka do not need the huge buff of a 2-5-5 set-up with sustain.

#1 tip (Re)check your graphics settings periodically - especially resolution.

i think it would really depend on the skills involved. I'd really love to see more weapon options for magicka users but the above posts are right about the power you already get with staves. It's easy to forget about it when it's your only good option.
I'd love to see like a wand+rune or orb that allowed some different magicka tank options.

I had a thought awhile back about a Conjuring skill line where you'd equip a book that was specific to the conjured weapon complete with badass animations for casting (Pulling a greatsword out of the pages or ripping the book in two as each side becomes a dagger). Then the skills would all be similar but change slightly depending on the weapon and the perks would work sorta how staff perks are different depending on the element. It would just be melee range weapons (greatsword, one handed, daggers) and give you more of a battlemage vibe.

umm there really should be a magicka melee weapon 3 out of 5 classes have melee in there kit and if they gave it a filler I'm pretty sure there would be a lot of melee sorcs and wardens running around.

I really doubt it would become so op look at there wardens I know some people say there op but there really not stam wardens are good but not op magwardens are crap. tank wardens are the strongest but mostly annoying becease they have so much healing.

One way I tried to balance was by filling the wand tree with hardly damaging support abilities. So like most if u wanted to do damage with your weapon you'd use 2h. If you wanted a full 5/5/2 you'd use wands mixed with class abilities.
Thought that was back before certain class skills got destroyed.

While I am not against a dual weild magical weapon set I don't believe that I have ever heard of using two wands at the same time. I've always thought of a wand as tool that you can only use one at a time. In fact most stories and mythologies have represented them like staves as a focus. Some are also imbued with charges /powers /spells which can just be fired off. However even with that I don't remember anyone using two at the same time.

Not that combat in this game a always makes sense....

This is the Elder Scrolls, not Harry Potter. Wizards use staffs.

Skyrim let us dual wield staffs. It looked completely ridiculous, but it worked. Either that, or ZOS needs to finally let us one-hand and spell like a proper Spellsword.

Yes, Wizards use Staves but what about Witches!?

I Very Highly doubt that Harry Potter was the first Fantasy Franchise to create the idea of Wands in fact it is a common concept in Most Tolkien-esque themed Fantasy games, realms and stories...

I think witches used daggers instead of wands. Regarding TES Lore, I've not seen anything similar to a wand, except those in Daggerfall (useless by the way).

But daggers, there are plenty, even Tantos and Washizakis (TES 3)

What we don't have is spears, which are more in Lore with first TES games

I agree because it would breath new life back into magic builds. I hate playing stam character ( no offense ) but the problem arises when ZOS gets involved because they start nerfing stuff that isn't broken like perm block for pvp not pve and why are they even trying to mess with off balance. This is beyond there skill not to just implement but to maintain. Look at the lag and glitching in game right now for console. Regular xbox can barely handle game as is much less more. Would love it but won't happen and probably shouldn't happen with ZOS's ability to muck up simple things

I like the idea. One of my favorite 'weapon sets' in any MMO was in Guild Wars - my necromancer with a magic wand and a voodoo doll.*

When my Nerevarine reached the rank of Wizard in the Mages Guild, she was told she had to get a Wizard's Staff. In true Morrowind fashion, she then hunted down a rogue Wizard and took it off her dead body. Politics in the Mages Guild is murder.

My Champion of Cyrodiil also had to get a Wizard's Staff, but that was a long drawn out process of gathering wood from a necromancer infested grove.

Witches in the Elder Scrolls, on the other hand, do things like leave naked Nords stranded on the side of the road after stealing their axe because said Nord got drunk and a little handsy.

You can use a wand in one hand and an orb offhand in the other hand like the wizard in Diablo 3
