It costs gold based on the rarity of the motif. For example high elf is 100 per piece and telvanni would be 1000 per piece.

I'm not sure that I understand this. Costs gold to do what? Change the piece once it's been set in the outfit?

Yes. Each time to save the changes made to your outfit piece it will cost gold per piece, based upon rarity.

And in the live stream they quoted Telvanni to be 2000 per piece, not 1000. So... this can get pricey to change up a lot.

Edit: Or, if you want to spend cash instead, you can buy Outfit Style Stone from the crown store.

What if I have S&B on main bar and 2H on back and save that outfit style, then I swap the 2H for a Staff - would I need to create another outfit or edit the current one? I watched most of the stream but couldn't tell if you select all possible slot types while creating the outfit or just for the types equipped.

Would guess there will be a main bar and back bar slot. Doesn't make sense otherwise

I get that. But what I'm asking is - if I change a weapon type in a slot (2H to Stave, 2H to S&B, etc), would the new weapon in slot also have the style selected if it's different than the type/family selected for the original slot?

    You’re complicating this.

Each slot is its own still. Your outfit won’t flip, just the weapons as it does today. A staff can only be a staff, 2 hand can only be that 2 hand, etc.

Think of it as 1 or more costume templates that has each slot as a optional. Each item gets one slot....that’s how it’s being discussed. Maybe I’m wrong but this seems most accurate from Gina’s comments today.

The slot artwork only applies to the exact same type of actual weapon. So axe for axe and staff for staff, shield for shield and cheat for chest, etc.

Maybe this template has every possible weapon slot so you can add different weapons and swap actual weapons in and out so the template picks up on your artwork and makes it seem less.

    Of course.

You can leave any of the seven (7) armor costume slots blank on the template ... so that armor slot would not have a costume overlay when you apply the template.

    No.

As noted above, only motif knowledge was confirmed for this Update. Monster sets and clothing could be a consideration for a later Update.

So does that mean you can't mix and match outfit and armour? So I couldn't have my monster set with all the other slots outfitted?
You can use an shoulder and helmet to hide monster set. however the outfit is limited to crafted sets, you can not swap one monster set for another or use outer unique styles like vMA weapons the broom or looted clothes.

You can use low level designs however.
If you leave chest empty on outfit it will show the chest you are using, this is nice for showing equipped gear so you know you are not healing in medium night silence or why I don't like costumes :)

Yeah, I know you can't use monster sets to make outfits, I meant can you show equipped ones with a outfit active. My comment was in response to someone saying that to hide a piece of armour you just leave the outfit slot blank.

Honestly, I can see it going either way but ideally it will be an option to either show existing or show none. We'll see! :)

You pay gold to use that style. And if you know the crown stores motif on one character they all can use it.

Will there be a skin overlay? For example, I can be wearing full Rubedite and equip my Nordic Bather's Towel costume, and show off my character's physique / tattoos, etc. without losing any armor stats. Could there be a way to make a costume slot, not blank, but rather body colored? Like, running around in a fur Frostcaster's hood and shoulder pads, boots, and nothing else (besides the default undies, of course)?

hmmm rather expensive 7000 gold for a costume x 10 characters = 70'000 gold and thats just 1 costume per character and usually you probably want several

Are the costumes character bound? If i create a costume on character 1 can i use that on all other characters (i'd assume so?)

or do you basically just create a normal new costume that you can name even that goes into the costume collections and everyone can use at any time and dye however?

i read that all known motifs become costume - does that mean they become a source for the outfit to create or that i basically get a light/medium/heavy outfit for every motif i know and can use it as other outfits (i mean this would be assome)

Some of these are incorrect "facts" though!

Motifs are not account-wide, for example. As long as I'm interpreting what they said on ESO Live properly, knowing a motif on any character DOES unlock that style for the purposes of the Outfit system across your whole account, but you cannot craft every style on every character.

Also you can turn your axe into a dagger, but you can't turn your two-hand into a one-hand. Basically one-handed weapons are interchangeable and two-handed melee weapons are interchangeable.

    And wasn't Telvanni 2000 gold?

Almost half of your "confirmed facts" are false or misleading.
Motifs will now be account wide
Only available styles for the outfit system will be account wide, which are determined by the motifs any of your characters know.
You can dye all three slots on EACH piece
There are several pieces in the game that can't be dyed in all 3 slots. So far, we don't know how these pieces will work in the outfit system.
It costs gold based on the rarity of the motif. For example high elf is 100 per piece and telvanni would be 1000 per piece.
Telvanni costs 2000 gold. Although these numbers might still change after testing on PTS I imagine.
You CAN NOT change your axe to a dagger or bow to a staff.
You can change within weapon type, i.e. 2H to 2H, 1H to 1H, bow to bow, staff to staff. You absolutely can turn your 1H axe into a dagger, for example.

Motifs are account wide only for outfit system right? One would still need to learn a motif on a character to actually craft in that motif I assume.

Based on what they said, motifs being account wide is only in the outfit system.

Exactly, when you log into a character without the motifs their collections tab is updated to contain all of the known motifs another character in your account has obtained.

It doesn't seem like this will be possible as the outfit system will let you cover existing armour pieces with a new style.

I was hoping we'd be able to make shirtless gear finally. The few shirtless motifs that exist are pretty mediocre.

Does anyone know if the items in the chest count towards items in the home? I mean if I've only got 5 open spots for items in my home, and I add a chest, do the items count towards the overall item count and I can't go beyond the 4 left, after adding the chest? Or will the contents of the chest be separate from the item count?

I really hope they function like the other costumes as far as hiding items while still equipped. My guys would really appreciate being able to bare chest it without diminishing my stats to do so. I swear, why bother buying or making cool looking tats/skins if all you're going to offer is outfits and costumes that cover up everything?! There is an obvious market for these items, did they not see how popular and desired the shaman costume is?

Still don't get why this game is m-rated, there is zero profanity, your character never bleeds, in fact there is zero blood shown other than when a vamp feeds and there is barely any gear or costumes that show skin. Might as well rid whatever is making ESO m-rated and go for a T rating.

Based on the info provided on ESO Live, it does appear the costume templates will create a lot less demand for style stones, yes. However, we have yet to PTS test how the costume templates actually work and what role style stones play (if any).

Seems like players could create whatever hideous armor combination they want ... using whatever style stones they have the most of in inventory. After that, they would just overlay their preset costume template.

More to come on this question I’m sure.

I don't know if this was mentioned, nor if it's even on topic, but was there any info on hiding shoulders? Seeing as how this update will be towards outfits and accessories.

Not sure what you mean by this.

If you mean “hide” as in choosing another shoulder motif style instead of what your character currently wears ... then yes you can certainly do that on the costume template.

The rest of the costume template would be the style of your current armor (as long as it’s a known motif on at least one character).
