Outfit System - 270 Leg styles?

At 36:30 Rich says that there 270 legs styles, now as far as I know there are 57 motif styles in the game . Now we know that when you create an outfit that you can choose each armor piece to be either light, medium or heavy. However that would tell us that there are 171 (57*3) leg styles that a person can learn. Does this mean that ZOS may be introducing new styles with this system, or does that mean that we would be able to for example transmute gear into lv 10 breton style instead of lv 160 breton style for example. Or perhaps Richard just read out the number wrong.

What are your guys thoughts on this?

Pretty sure that when they first mentioned this, they wanted players to be able to access all the art for the sets, including the low level. I think the only art that we won't have access to are the original redguard and orc low level sets that got redesigned early on.

This is slightly wrong. There is currently 56 Motifs in the game, Clockwork hasn’t been released yet.

I have 56/56 motifs learned on 2 characters so far.

    @lillybit is right.

@CyberOnEso ... some of the motifs have multiple styles at low levels such as Dwemer (level 26 Dwemer staff pictured below).

Ok, now I give my seal of approval.

Lack of access to the low level models was originally one of the main complaints. Some of the lower level models blow away the cap level models.

the appearance of the various styles changed as you leveled up, though, with the progression through different materials.

perhaps that accounts for the additional possibilities?

@ZOS_RichLambert All I want to know is will I be able to put the dye where I want it on my outfits? We still have tons of armor/shields that have 2 or less areas that can be dyed. Some can't be dyed at all (Malacath shields, outlaw shields but only the center portions, ebonshadow shields have only two areas that can be dyed). Also several costumes are slightly glitchy with dyed areas such as the Telvanni mage costume on the sleeves where it loses its dyed area when standing still but suddenly gains color while sprinting on horseback (bug?). Will these finally be able to be customized how we would like or at least hope to?

Considering that he mentioned outfits using "only motifs", at least for now, I'd say that'a a no. Basically what you can craft in the outfit system is exactly what you can craft in the current gear crafting system, no more, no less.

My understanding from ESO Live is that you will be able to dye the costume templates in the very same way you dye armor currently ... so you’re good there. In fact, the dye tables are being renamed to acommodate the costume template UI.

This isn’t a bug with the dye table. The actual design of the shield/gear only allowed for one or two colors when the Art Team created it. I don't think this is something ZOS is looking into for this coming Update ... but we’ll find out when they roll out PTS next week.

Only existing motifs are available in the costume template. Not existing costumes in your collections menu. Maybe in a future update. If there are bugs with existing costumes, those should be reported in-game or in the “bugs” section of the official forums.

That’s my understanding too ... only craftable styles would be included as options on the costume template. We’ll find out for sure Monday on PTS.

What about Styles like the (old) Worm's Raiment Style, which is in game and never was able to be crafted. Will there be an option to craft is soon? I mean there is a medium and and a heavy option for the other sets (Hircine's Veneer and Ebon Armory )as well. Could you consinder this a style to craft soon as well? Or a other way to get this for the new system?

I think that's unlikely at the moment. For Update 17 it sounds like Outfits can only be created from craftable motif styles.

What, the 57 something motif styles as well as multiple level variations of older motifs isn't enough to satisfy people's need?

Here people are already demanding more motif looks, while I still haven't figured out which of 270 types of pants I want to wear once the update hits live :sunglasses:

They did the ESO Live show via webcam because there were technical difficulties (hardware issue) with the live stream. There was about an hour and fifteen minute delay from the scheduled start. Just FYI ...
