End result is the same, if not better. You can look how you want,wearing what you want. Don't really see the issue.
So you're "extremely disappointed" by something, which you didn't even test by yourself, because PTS will start at Monday.
* slow clapping *
There is nothing to complain about this system whatsoever. People need to wait for full information until they lose their minds.
For years players of this game have been asking for a transmog system, ie the ability to transform one piece of armor of certain motif, into another motif. What we got (very late) was a costume creator. This is a bastardization of the original request (what are zos devs, half genie?). So now instead of the player base getting the simple system that they asked for, we can create ONE costume the creating and editing of which will cost an as yet undetermined amount of gold, and the ability to create more than one costume will be sold for real money via the crown store.
I am not against the crown store, nor against monetizing certain aspects of the game. I understand that revenue is essential to development and continued support for this IP. What is frankly bullspit is how ZoS twisted the players original desire for tranmog and created this outfit system completely mated to the crown store. And of course we still lack an actual transmog system, ie the ability to change the style "motif" of any peice of gear.

ESO+ers get crowns monthly anyway, quit whining.

That has nothing to do with anything and you know it. Mind coming up with an actual argument for why more slots should be locked behind the crown store, or do you just defend the crown store at every turn with "you get free crowns for subbing anyway"?

One free costume is fine too (although it really should be character-specific, not account-wide). The game needs revenue and selling cosmetics is a great way to get it.
They could also go ahead and give ESO+ subs unlimited costumes.
My only complaint is that it doesn't look like we'll be able to create a shirtless outfit (for male characters) by removing certain pieces (it looks like you'll need 7 pieces to make an outfit).

Uhh.... Wow, entitled much?

*yawn* so many people like to throw that word around like it even fits anymore. This isn't entitlement bud, I collect, learn and spend millions on motifs that take a huge grind and now to use those styles on my characters I also have to pay? Give me a break
Here is a question... how does this system handle the various 'material' looks armor motifs? I mean, can you apply a 'rawhide' version of chest piece or are you stuck with the 'rubedo' version? How does the system differentiate between the various material levels or do you have to 'create' an armor piece first to then apply to the costume?

Because Zenimax need to make money? And this should be THE way to make money. Seriously, I don't like crown store, I hate crown crates, and even I find it absolutely acceptable. You get a free costume for every character, which you can then change on whim if you feel the desire to do so(well, for gold, but c'mon, they said it's <=2k a piece). If between that, costumes already in the game and actual armor looks you still feel you need more, then yes, off to crown store you go. Just like you go there for race change, additional char slots and the like. This stuff makes perfect sense to be there, it's things that you can get by without but if you feel you need them you buy them with real money. I'd be absolutely stoked if stuff like that was all they put in crown store.
Admittedly there's also the question of pricing it, but I don't think ZOS are quite dumb enough to make it 5k crowns or something. I'm actually shocked they're introducing something that good(from the sound of it) and NOT locking it behind crown store one way or the other completely. Give credit where credit is due, if everything they've said so far is true, it's a great system, and the crown store "wall" is just fine where it is.
Uhh wow, where did I defend the crown store at every turn?
How about I use "reflect" on you. Mind coming up with a better argument than "whaahah I want stuff for free" and when people voice their opinion against you "whahaha you're defending the crown store at every turn!"
