WTF are you talking about?! GANGSTA SPEAK?!...wut?!
You do know that not everyone lives in urban America, has a low income, or relied on public education, right? The type of society one finds to be the norm is merely the one they grew up with and accepted as the dominant world view. It's likely that he wasn't raised in an environment where the manner of speech he's being introduced to by those he dubs today's generation was a dominant factor at all and frowns upon its impact on the PVP community, which once upon a time was more of an honorable lot built on pride and reputation.
Those were simpler times before dungeon queues automatically matched teams or addons threw out autoinvites. Getting a group or even a guild for game content meant having the respect of the server as there were only a few thousand in total on your shard and everyone actually knew each other. Ninja looting was a capital offense (no guild wanted you), improper quest mob share etiquette (players formed lines), and even just having an attitude in what should be an objective conversation (rudeness and disrespect) was enough to murder your standing. Being a troll back then was sure to end you up on black lists and good luck getting gear if no one will group with you.
MMO communities have fallen quite far in general and it has certainly poisoned the PVP community as much if not more than other areas of the game due to the inherent competitiveness associated with it. Where once respect was had for the defeated, today they are scrubs and need to get good (as even seen on the first page).

There's a very big difference between the sort of person described here:The elitist 1vX'r is someone to learn from. These guys have spent 5000+ hours in the game...or more. I could never be so dedicated to a game. But because of them and their dedicated sacrifice, I'm better at the game than I would be if they didn't make the personal sacrifice to be as good as they are.
And someone who is pretending/aspires to be that sort of person.
The actual—I'm not going to call them 'Elitists', that term is so damn cringey, but the players who are actually good at the game, most of them really aren't ***. There are *** among them, but most of the *** you run into will be people who aspire to be like these people.
Literally, I've heard the story of "This elitist was so bad at doing DPS, or healing" or "This elitist challenged me to a 1v1 with his meta build and I beat him with my 5x light hundings rage Argonian lightning staff heavy attack nightblade build" Like, isn't it so obvious to you that these people aren't actually 'elite' and are just literally roleplaying as someone they believe to be decent at the game.
Every single game has elitists regardless of genre. I've met fps elitists, racing elitists, mmo elitists, yugioh elitists, even hot wheels plug and play elitists.

I'm not sure what class you play, but for my Magicka Templar, I just stand away from the fight and cast cast Purifying Light on the 1 character every 6 secs if possible...
That leads to the 1 player:
1) eventually dying to the burst of Purifying Light...
2) coming after you (which is what you want so that the mob chasing him can bring their full might down on him)...
3) the 1 player retreating further away ( in which case you just leave and find something else to do)...

I am speaking mostly about ps4 na since that's the server i play on but in my experience these type of players tend to think of themselves as a better player then almost everyone else and also tend to be the worst trolls and lie the most or seem to cheat to get ahead i've seen it for myself and always put down anyone they believe is doing something they think isn't right such as running in a 24 man group in pvp or other things they frown up on i was considering maybe switching from ps4 to pc not sure but is pc this awful also where these kind of players exist and troll pvp zone chat and other horrible things

Wait....I'm a 1vx player! X number of people run over me like a freight train daily and only squat down repeatedly to check that I'm ok and sometimes even whisper scrub to let me know that they will wash my armour for me or potato which I guess they worry I don't have food.

1vX is nothing more than farming inexperienced noobs that barely have enough skills to fill 2 skillbars.
You don't see experienced players or experienced groups getting destroyed by 1 player.

You will almost certainly find a large skill gap between the 1 and the X, but that doesn't necessarily mean the latter are inexperienced. Plenty of people who have been playing since launch are still getting 1vX'ed.

with all due respect, your first sentence seems to show that you're not differentiating between "elites" and "elitists".
elitists are people who occupy a certain position that they consider superior, and then behave as though that position renders their entire persona superior.
in this game, great skill -- along with enough gold to make the most of all that skill -- would make someone elite. i agree that most of the elites in this game are way cool folks. they remember that they weren't born awesome at the game and will often even offer tips if something stands out to them and you seem receptive.
i think an example that a guy with 5 forum stars would be familiar with might be players who describe "PC Master Race" with a joyless smirk instead of a mischievous one. (yes that's right, we can smell your smarminess through the screen)
i think the "elitists" who aren't elite are better described by that censored term, y'know the thing besides opinions that everybody has and thinks everyone else's stinks?
